I'm a knife enthusiast who has studied unarmed hand to hand combat in English Boxing and Kickboxing. I watch endless videos on sword/knife fighting both armored and unarmored. Without a doubt, the combination of Churika and Paricha (Sword and Shield) is a complete system. It uses leaps for harnessing gravity to power strikes and forms for defense. The military utility of kalari is written all over the movements.
Great art brothers. Respect from Assam. You people have such a great art but I haven't seen much south Indian movies where fight scenes were choreographed according to this style. Please make movies based on traditional and enthnic kalari!
There are great movies based on this martial art form, like "Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha", "Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja", "Kadathanadan Ambadi", "Aromalunni", "Urumi", and so many more.
@@home24x79 Well, it was first the ancient art of Kalaripayattu which was invented. The British banned the use of Kalaripayattu weapons, as they knew it was too strong for them. One strike from an Urumi would kill you, your race, and your ego. Keep your comments to yourself, infidel.

Kalari is great
Me too! I am a taekwondo red 1 belt but I have recently been interested in sword fighting
Real martial artists respect every martial art. It is the internet fanboys who trash talk.
