I heared from my elders that it's main practices are banned during British era. It is sad to watch such deadly art being practice as showcase thing nowadays. Our government should consider and promote our native arts. We should have tournament for the player and to retrieve our art.
Well maybe you are right but according to history during aurangzeb's period Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj started his mission of hindu swaraj from Pune in Maharashtra to the southern region and created a line of defense so that if anyone wants to capture southern region then he will have to face his swaraj maratha empire.

Kalaripayattu(Kerala), Gatka(Punjab) and Thang Ta(Manipur) are the most well known martial arts in Bharat. Btw the original name of Thang Ta is Huyen Langlon, if I'm not wrong.
Jai Parashurama 🙏🚩
Now all three martial arts included in khelo india youth games..
@GOUTHAM KRISHNA it's very unfortunate
One of the true examples of ancient rich Indian Culture...
Urumi... Is the most deadliest sward in the world... Becoz it can hurt and attack on 360 digree and by it can be easily portable by tuisting through the waist like a belt...
In kerala history even the british soliders can't hold infront of (urumi)even with a rifil...
That scene in pazhashi raja (film)👌
Hard to delfect ..Bro train cheyyarundo
Disadvantage is that you need space and so an army in tight formation cannot use it.
it's just as dangerous to the user as the opponent. Just a single cutting edge and almost no hand protection. Go up against a HEMA fighter with a double edged longsword and you will very soon have your hands and forearms slashed to pieces.
That must be why India was able to conquer and colonize England. Oh wait, that did not happen.

Kalari, silambam and valari these are some of deadly martial arts practises of South India are still in practice in some rural areas of South India. I heared from my elders that it's main practices are banned during British era.
It is sad to watch such deadly art being practice as showcase thing nowadays.
Our government should consider and promote our native arts. We should have tournament for the player and to retrieve our art.
Silambam & Valari both comes under the kalari marshal art form or called different techniques in kalari. That's truth....
That is our real culture of sanatan for self defense. I am proud to see this video. ☺️
Don't miss out the last 30 seconds

Free style kalaripayattu is really nice.
I think this is why aurangjeb and other mughal never captured south india.
Twisting swords
Looks similar to thangta thang means lord parshuramas weapon. Thangta is a martial art practiced in the state of Manipur India. Love to all Kalari practitioners from Manipur.
Kerala martial arts
its not too late, for us Indians to regenerate this legandary martial art. In actual sense Kalaripayattu should be as famous as kung fu and yoga , since KUNG FU was created by the ideology of KALARI PAYTTU. even though there was @#* British influence. TODAY there is no countries dare to effect our culture or heritage.
this not just kalari , there are so many hidden powers and facts that we Indians are hiding from this world .
..............jai hind.................
This is all staged and choreographed. The moves and techniques are all correct but you don't slash with katar daggers. You stab with them.
They are showing the concept.
if you were expecting real killings here, I need to refer you to a good doctor.
FYI, at one time, this Martial Arts was used for real killing on battlefields (and not on a stage). Unfortunately, most witnesses (spectators- if you would like call then so) were either killed or were the killers themselves (as soldiers).
Who said u will not slash with katar??there are double edged katars and attackers aim at killing the opponent as fast as possible, so if the blades are sharp they will use both sides to slash as well as stab with the sharp point.
+Seven09 but this concept are awesome😍😍😍😍
