The best thing I loved about all these dudes like Fred Durst/Wes Borland, Jonathan Davis, Corey Taylor, Chino Moreno etc is that they were unafraid to be themselves and were total originals. People talked a lot of shit about nu-metal but when you look back on it now, they did something new, that they loved, and they did it with their best friends. That rules.
Thats the point
I saw something in my feed where they were singing to Alanis Morrissette and I was like 😲 them too...? Wait, I vaguely think... i remember watching that in my youth. Im not even sure :/. Anywho, the fact that so many ppl in general on the internet think I'm a fake person.... my doucheys bfs peeps think I'm made up too 😅. Nope, im real. Bitching, angry, upset, over emotional, snappy & blah. Yep, im in this hell w/ yall as well 🤗, fr. Hello 👋.
Very well put!
Facts!
the problem started when it was fucking force fed down our fucking throats. to the point that new jacks were forced to try to emulate that shit but failed MISERABLY.
and if you read the lyrics to this song, it's one of the hardest songs in all of rock music.
I still say Wes Borland is a tragically underrated guitarist.
Absolutely, just like Adam Jones never really gets any recognition either. It's sad that only cookie-cutter mainstream guitarists like boring ass Zakk Wylde for one example, get all the attention.
He's so underrated he's overrated by all the people that say he's underrated.
@rocket grunt i'd agree that he's underrated in the sense that he's not recognized for his skill on his own, the way certain other guitarists are. he did have massive success with his band, no-one can deny that.
@@henrikpersson4698 Because anyone who PLAYS guitar knows what was does......It's all super easy basic shit anyone can play, yeah Wes wrote it, but nothing he does deserves any special amount of attention. It's all easy
Just because he wear underwear in concert? You're right hommie
There is something about the 90s. Limp Bizkit is just a sample. Marilyn Manson. Korn. RATM. Deftones. Alice in Chains. Faith no More. Pantera. Machine Head. Guns n Roses. It was a rather fun decade.
i honestly think all those bands will never make a song as good as this
Good Charlotte is more mid to late 90s, but you can't forget them, lol
And Beasties Boys
By far the last decent musical decade. All the modern music out there is nothing short of diabolical!
No music like it today.
I don’t think most people realize how next level the riffing on this song is. Getting something to sound this fresh in the scale of double harmonic major is no easy task. Wes Borland truly has something special when it comes to writing riffs
Says Wes: “I can solo ok, but my riffs I’ll put up against anybody’s.”
This bass line is pure groove
that G# string tho
This song was before it’s time. So incredibly heavy and those funky bass lines make this song so good.
The 90s tunes are still banging
yes
Dude rocking Frank pfp, I gotta watch that movie again!
Baggy trousers, frosted tips, wallet chains, bands that don’t all sound the same.
It all feels like a lifetime ago 😞
"bands that don’t all sound the same"... actually, that's what the song's about... band that all sound the same
Nu metal died because they all sounded the same.
I remember going to Ozzfest '98 at age 17, every single band had a unique style and sound. Warped Tour and Ozzfest in the 90's were the fucking best.
@@vicstevensn2684 The problem is, idiots call music that ISN'T nu-metal NU-Metal. For instance, Deftones are not Nu-Metal. Korn, Limp Bizkit, Hed P.E., Mudvayne etc, those are examples of Nu-Metal. Deftones as well as Incubus derived their styles more from things like Faith No more, if you listen to early Incubus it's pretty much ripping off FNM and RHCP completely. If you listen to Deftones they use the same style of screaming and singing that Mike Patton coined with FNM back in the 80's. Those are just two examples of bands people mistakenly call Nu-Metal. There are plenty of others. It's like people calling bullshit screamo metal Emo, emo is Jimmy Eat World and Death Cab for Cutie, not shit like Asking Alexandria or Emerosa, that shit is outright screamo metal, not emo. In final though, you are right, actual Nu-Metal all sounded very similar. Probably why Cory Taylor decided to go back to his lame pussy band Stone Sour until he could find a way to make Slipknot less nu-metal and more relevant again.
@@voided_reality6863Deftones I know are not a "nu-metal" band but they did have some nu-metal or rap-metal elements in earlier work. Adrenaline? Around the Fur? White Pony? Might be because of the interest in trip hop.
Limp Bizkit (likely unintentionally) sent a great message to the kids on this one.
DON'T try to emulate others. Be tourself, whoever that may be
Always be tourself 👌🔥 stay true
I don't know why people hate Limp Bizkit. They're a great band.
Three Dollar Bill Y'all is a top 3 album
Got that right
Because apparently it’s ‘cool’ to hate on them. And people just love to try and be ‘cool’….. they’re idiots don’t worry about them. Limp Bizkit did loads of great songs over the years and these same jokers ‘dissing’ them now are the same ones that were loving them back then.
@@avastaley3379 I guess so haha. You're right. I should not stress myself over them haha
@@johnshadoe just noticed your comment was like 2 years old haha, sorry hope you didn’t mind me replying. But yeah Bizkit are ace was listening to them yesterday at work :) hope you are well x
Say what you want about Limp Bizkit, but their first album was sick AF
I remember when I saw them perform on MTV Spring Break summer of 98. They played Faith (via George Michael RIP) I called a buddy up and said "Damn did you just see that performance it was awesome!" Bought 3 dollar buy soon after.
@@mgtowarena9636 that's awesome man. Kinda jealous haha. Fun fact: Deftones were asked to play spring break first but they turned it down so MTV asked Limp Bizkit
@@derickhines2367 Ha! Well, let me clarify... I saw it on MTV Spring Break on TV :D my original comment makes it sound like I was actually there. I never really been that big of a fan of Deftones. I like Rage, Sevendust, Tool, Korn, Five Finger DP, some of my favorites.
Only one I ever liked
Their first 3 albums were fire but I agree, 3 dollar bill y'all goes hard!
I first heard this song 23 years ago and it still has the same impact it did then. Thank you Limp Bizkit!!!
2000 ...its atill 2000 / sure fred durst agrees limp bizkit forever baby 👍
yes
Wes Borland's riff in the chorus is one of the most simple, HEAVIEST riffs ever recorded. Natural harmonics make everything heavier. Not to mention Sam Rivers' AMAZING bass line in the verses. Limp Bizkit had one of the best "backing" bands of all of nu-metal, too bad Fred Durst made it more about himself on "Significant Other".
Interesting take. Significant Other was my intro and I never looked back, hearing this track makes me regret that
That's why this is their only good album. I still listen to this shit to this day
Ever recorded? 🤔
RAPCORE
that ending riff is just colossal, hardcore and bone crushing intensive mayhem. one of the best riffs i ever heard!
in my opinion;
02:40 "rearrenged" bass riff
03:16 "my generation" guitar bridge alike
Burak Sahin holy fuck I never noticed
I noticed those too, if you notice those, you're are definately a huge limp bizkit fan lmao
and full nelson and stuck are almost the same song
jk
Limp Bizkit will always hold a special place in my heart. The style of the late 90’s / early 2000’s just couldn’t be beat. I work in a morgue; and my scrub pants are wide legged and my co worker always says they remind him of JNCO’s 🤣🤣
I remember when I got my first pair of jncos, thought I was the shit lol took months of begging my mom! I’m happy to see that style is coming back now although it is crazy to realize I’m old enough that it’s cycled back, I remember thinking it was crazy when bellbottoms became popular in the early 2000s and my parents told me that they did it first 😂
I bought a JNCO shirt in grade school that was so big I can still wear it as a normal-fitting t-shirt 20 years later, haha. Love that shirt.
This is Limp Bizkit's most underrated song, aside from 'Hotdog,' imo.
+ParadiXe311 The Truth is.
ikr
+ParadiXe311 Depends how old you are/when you started listening to them
I remember when this album came out I bought it soon as it was available in Australia, this was instantly my favorite (and indigo flow) and has been ever since.
Uncl Dolan I kinda prefer Clunk.
The rap section is absolutely perfect and the breakdown is so fucking violent
+ParadiXe311 this is their first song
First album is an incredible piece of art
I still say John Otto is a tragically underrated drummer
this music video is about as 90s as it gets
Shit, haven't heard this in a long ass time, I miss this Limp Bizkit.
+Jorge Leitner You're not the only one.
DAN MEN Personally I'm not much into what they started doing after Results May Vary. Actually, even that album didn't appeal to me as much as the first three. Their music back then was awesome in my opinion.
+Jorge Leitner we are getting old... I used to make fun of guys saying "I miss the 80's" now I miss the 90's.
+deenns albares the eighties sucked
+Jorge Leitner the truth was awesome though
This is album is fucking sick
I'm 60 years old now and this is still one of my favorite LB tracks. I also like ABBA Dancing Queen and Elvis Jail House Rock...go figure
That’s actually cool as fuck. I’m a 41 year old metal head but I love Grand Funk Railroad and The Kinks. 🤘🏻❤️
In July I will be 37 years old, I really like Limp Bizkit, Nirvana, Iron Maiden, Bee Gees, ABBA, Pantera, Helloween, in short, there are many metal bands that I really like. I will be a rocker until my old age. I can't live without rock n' roll, metal and pop music.
In April I turned 25 and Limp Bizkit is the shit. Hardcore and real as fuck, describes my attitude pretty well.
I also like Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Cypress Hill, and Sabbath. Rock on man independence
This song feels like its just barely keeping in tempo, like its just barely keeping up with its rage fueled rant. It creates a raw energy I really haven't heard anywhere else.
This was my jam about 16 years ago 😂
this is still my jam!
Me too! I really miss their style from the 'Three Dollar Bill Y'all' days.
and what happened...
i saw them in Oakland Raiders game last yaer at end of the game it was a 3 hr show
nice to know beautiful
This was the absolute shit in high school in the late 90's. Anyone who lived it knows what the fuck is up....
Korn away
Seeing them open for Korn & Helmet in 1996 and wipe the floor with both bands...yeah, it was a wake up call. 😂
I miss my anti-skip cd Walkman....kids these days will never know the struggle.
I still have one tho
Yeah, now they're dealing with inferior audio quality and music that skips because of a bad internet connection 😀
I had an anti-skip minidisc player.
Took it to college, some dude goes "woah, anti-skip, so that means I can do this?" Shook the living fuck out of it.
Definitely skipped after that lol.
Wes Borland and John Otto are to very unappreciated musicians. Very underatted.
Would listen to this constanly after school, just being frustrated with life while bed room moshing. I still consider this their best song and it will forever have a special place in my heart.
Otto's drums are always impressive and clean
I can still clearly remember the joy I felt 20 years ago listening to Limp Bizkit albums. I can remember it SO clearly. That's the thing that will never fade and most amazing thing about music.
This is me now. I never heard a song from them and just found them today! Any song- or album-recommendations?
@@madame-moon Hi! Personally, I went in this order: Significant Other, Chocolate Starfish, 3 Dollar Bill. HOWEVER feel free to go 3 dollar, Significant, Chocolate Starfish in order they were released :)
I, particulary remember the 1st time i hears significant other, short after its release. I remember where I was, who I was with! good old days!
yep..almost drove off the road first time i heard It'll Be Okay in early 2000. Was in my 40s when i got Starfish after hearing My Way. then got more albums for my car. saw them w Metallica n Linkin Park 2003 in Orlando. Lucky me. 60+ and still dig the great LB songs.🎉
This takes me back to sitting in my basement, rolling bombers and getting ready for my sophomore year of high school. Broke up a lot of weed on this CD case.
Dude same but this year in a sophomore and we did that on the 22nd of February
*high* school
Lmao me too man
That's unfortunate. I was busy breaking up weed on an Enter the 36 Chambers Wu-Tang cassette tape while rolling fat ass blunts. Limp Bizkit was for driving around being a moron, not chilling and smoking weed.
@@voided_reality6863 HEY. Are you telling someone how to enjoy their music and/or pot? Stop that. You know that's against the rules.
After all those years I realised that This video is a literal metaphor of trying to be fly
Wes no makeup
Fred no. Cap
Sam no hair
John no hair
This is one of the most meaningful songs one can possibly hear !
Vevo, you realize this was from 1997, not 2005, right?
Maybe the vid is from 05... cuz I was wondering why I never seen it back when this song was tearing up them family values shows
ugn669 The video is 100% from 97.lol.
UA-cam was created in 2005
The date is when this video was uploaded to UA-cam not when it was released. One would assume people would know how UA-cam works since it's been around for 14 years....
@@kylew7180 You're wrong, the video was uploaded in 2009.
The credits say: Music video by Limp Bizkit performing Counterfeit. (C) 2005 Interscope Records.
Which is obviously not true.
Korn has Fake
Slipknot has Surfacing
Limp Bizkit has Counterfeit
+JR Design I always thought "hole in the earth" was their best song.
SOAD has Sugar
taylor swift has shake it off
Linkin Park has Heavy*
Josh Morris Limp Bizkit also has Trust?
Legitimately had no idea they released a video for Counterfeit BEFORE the Faith video. This is crazy
You'll never admit but LB bassist is one of the 2 cornerstones of the band.
"(C) 2005 Interscope Records" ?! What? This song was released as the album's first single in 1997!
+the smark shooter OK then n_n
Actually, it's because this is an audio remaster from 2005. Go look at the description for "Sour", that is labelled as 1997
must be talking about the greatest hitz release
as a grow older, this is prob their most underrated hit song.
Say what you want about "nu metal" and LB, but Three Dollar Bill was, and remains, an amazing album. At least top 10-20 for the last few decades.
They were this underground mixture of old school hip-hop and almost suicidal punk. They headbanged and bounced but dressed in a street hip hop style. They were so vital and fucking cool when they first came out. It's a shame they became what they did. Bizkit would be remembered much differently if they stuck with this sound
I strongly agree, they had that classic raw underground nu-metal style and attitude then it changed a bit during the significant other days and after that they become mainstream
Bro they still rip, get over it
@@hwgavin WHO is RIP
Broh they make great tours after hate in 2000s Limp Bizkit come to EU,ASIA SOUTH AMERICA and make great party’s and a lot of money they make a lot of.

I'm 26, when I was in jr. high and high school limp bizkit was huge. I went to a limp bizkit concert the other day and I was talking to some people that were 18-20 and they hadn't heard of them. I'm at the age were I can say "they were before your time" lol. I remember older people saying that to me when I was young. Limp Bizkit is on tour now, you should check em out. It was fun seeing them, I never saw them live back when I was your age and they were really popular.
Man, I miss 1997...
Me toooooooooooooo!!!
The 90’s was best decade ever I could be prejudiced because I was 16 when this song came out but nothing beats 90’s music period!
Rickardo Blyad xD
1997, great year for me. Emotions, party, beer, fights, and good luck
Simple times before 9/11 and the rest of the world went to shit after that
When i listened to this song my neighbors listen to it too! 25 years later and i feel the same feeling listening to this song!
This makes me wanna put my red Yankees on and bump my civic hatchback on the way to sell someone an 8th.
I saw Bizkit Live, before they were big. I didn't even know a song they played. After there show I was a fan ever after.
Best thing that've ever happened to me was growing up in the 90's,
second best thing was Limp Bizkit..!!
I had this on my walkman and i remember i was skateboarding around my hometown and i was wearing my low pants and my adidas tracksuit shirt. I had my earphones in and had my hat (botson red sox) on backwards. I was skateing on this 40 year old womans drive way and she told me to piss off and i laughed and skated away. Year was 1999
k
Cool story bro
sounds like a great time lol
I was wondering how sometimes when you hear a song that in the beginning you’re not really too fond of it but after a couple a while you like it I think that’s how you know sometimes songs are deep and layered. People might make fun of Fred Durst Limp Bizkit but every concert that I went too they fucking blew the fucking doors and roof straight off they rock the entire stadium every single time he is a phenomenal front man
justo me acaba de pasar eso
How can anyone hate this?
April G counter..
Easily.
This is one of their hardest songs. Brings me back
Their first 2 albums were great. Problems started when Freds ego got too big which lead to internal drama and their 3rd album being kinda trash.
JonnyPhive an artist's behavior should not be kept as a bias on their musical work.

Man, I wish LB were still like this. This was, and still is, the freshest, edgiest thing in my collection, and I crank it out almost every day. Props to Fred, Wes, DJ Lethal and the rest of LB for being so amazing!
Used to listen to this when I was a teen in the 90s and it would literally piss everyone off in the House
Limp Bizkit, WWF, Jerry Springer, and South Park. Late 90s middle school vibes.

It's more like Marilyn Manson copying the outfit that Wes Borland wore in this video. Manson didn't start taking off until his second album in 1999, titled "Mechanical Animals." However, Limp Bizkit were already becoming a household name in 1997 with their debut "Three Dollar Bill, Ya'll," which featured "Counterfeit."

I just translated this to play on the Super Mario World engine and for the first time realized how freakin' amazing that bass riff is in the verse. The whole song is great, but that particular bit was completely hidden under Fred's (amazing) vocals during all my childhood listens to the song... it was cool to uncover it when trying to port it over and really get to appreciate it. What a great band.
Almost unreal to think this song is nearly 20 years old
The days of baggy JNCO's and KickWears. Oh, man! Don't forget the DC's and Alien Workshop skateboards.
2019 and I’m still rocken this album Y’all
GAWD DAMN, SIMPLER TIMES!!! This album is still untouchable, imo.
LB is seriously underrated and hated despite being innovative and talented... they had chops yet made music stripped down to bare essentials. In the day it wasn't since Flat Duo Jets or Flying Lizards that I have been impressed with anyone who took musicality and stripped it down to bare essentials to invoke emotions.
It was funny seeing fred durst with a beard. When I saw them a few weeks ago he came out wearing this hat with a wide brim like you would wear for doing yard work, some polarized glasses, a white hoodie and white gloves.
