    Shot the RX-5 yesterday, love the bow besides the weight. Just cant bring myself to buy a carbon bow that weighs/costs more than most alum bows. we weighted the bow with just a whisker biscuit on it. 5.2 Lbs. Hoyts advertised weights are the bow without anything rubber on it.

      My biggest issue is not so much the weight, carbon has a lot of advantages other than just the weight(not so much with this bow vs other carbon bows)...but my biggest issue is the price for a bow with a riser made in good ol communist China....REFUSE to do it. Maybe if it were Japan or Germany...or another country that is known for actual high quality...but Fk China.

As far as performance is concerned I have a bit of a trick question: I am one of those individuals with a 28.5" draw. Does this mean I would get better performance out of the Ventum 33 @ 28.5 than the Ventum 30 because they will be at the upper respectively lower end of their mods?

    I'm glad Hoyt went to a different cam system I mentioned many times for the past few years hoping it will minimize cam lean from the past models.

    • @stavroskandianopoulos1755
      @stavroskandianopoulos1755 3 роки тому

      Binary systems do not reduce cam lean. As a design probably tent to have more cam lean to other systems if your draw style causes even a little torgue. This is the reason why elite and bowtech have applied tuning systems to their bows.
      Anyway having or not having a feature designed in your bow to cure the cam lean is not so important because the bow is going to shoot well. Most of the time cam lean in binary cams is minimal and is corrected when the bow is drawn.
      If the cam lean through is clearly visible and the angle
      of the cam leans a lot toward your cable rollers then you have to reduce the pressure at that
      spot.
      Hope I've helped you a little....

    • @raymondjones1866
      @raymondjones1866 3 роки тому

      @@stavroskandianopoulos1755 I'm aware with cam designs and induced horizontal nock travel caused by the roller guard I would think there would be some kind of inner yoke system to reduce cam lean but Mathews has that patent.

    • @stavroskandianopoulos1755
      @stavroskandianopoulos1755 3 роки тому

      My opinion is that all things equal (as soon as it's a quality bow overall) binary cam system bows without any kind of yokes are the epitome of bow-cam
      design because of the simplicity of function, reliability, ease of string replacement (or even self making)
      efficiency and feel,
      (as long as you are not overbowed).
      Mathews are too complicated machines for me to
      tinker with and although I aproove hoyt's new binary direction (and a three track especially) I'll miss the hoyt's I loved to hate.

    • @raymondjones1866

      @@stavroskandianopoulos1755 the new Mathews are super easy being a center pull design I replaced strings and cables already minus the yoke cables I will change them on the next string replacement they get very little wear I twist the string to get the ATA spot on and control cables equal in the cam timing windows the geometry of the cams will hit the draw stops even with the arrow centered on the burger hole and a level arrow to shoot perfect bullet holes in paper I really didn't need the optional drawboard for my Lastchance bow press honesty.

    Hello there guys!!
    Very thorough review as usual...
    My only objection is that although you praise the smooth hump-free draw-cycle, the way you draw the bow is not the optimal.
    In order to get the full advantage of the smoother feeling, you have to have a more linear draw.
    Drawing the bow at first toward your chest and then bringing it to your anchor point costs you time and doesn't make sence.
    Lowering the bow's pountage to the point that you could spread it so your sight is aiming at the target and your draw hand reaches your anchor point will give you more time to aim, feel your shot better and fatigue less...
    That's what I do...

  • @halfstep67
    @halfstep67 3 роки тому +1

    The advantages of a binary cam over a cam 1/2 is the binary actually has an effective valley. The binary is smoother drawing, better nock travel, easier tuning, more adjustability in the valley from short to long and unlike the cam 1/2, adjusting the valley doesn't effect the nock travel. The binary has better tune-ability thru all the draw length adjustments. The biggest mistake Hoyt made with going to a binary is that should have done it several years ago. By design, a cam 1/2 is a single cam. When you get into the upper end of the performance scale, the cam 1/2 draw cycle starts to get noticeably harsher that the binary cam at the same speeds. Years back, the single cam bow ruled the market but there came a day when the performance was not as good as the cam 1/2 and binary and the single cam quickly died. Now the performance of the cam 1/2 is following that same path, It will soon die. The binary is the better cam design for shoot-ability and tune-ability and is smoother with a better valley.

    It's worth pointing out, though I know you didn't mention it specifically in this video but did in the Ventum review about Hoyt going back to the Xact grip and while it's sort of true there is a difference in the dimensions of the grip itself. I say this because an older XACT grip dating back to the RX-1 does not fit. It wants to fit but just barely won't go on. When comparing them side by side the new grip has a harsher lower curve and has less material on the upper portion where it slides under the shelf.

    maybe this picatelli thing is better, then you no longer need a sidebar + stabilizer on the other side of the bow to correct the counterweight of your visor. So again lighter in the hand.
    But would that RX 5 also be good to shoot at a target? Because a shorter arc is faster, but not forgiving. So a small mistake means fewer points on your score.
    And what I don't like is that you always have to have a bow press to change the roundels to shoot a perfect bullet hole. Then the Bowtech Reckoning is better in that area with the dreadlock system. No more bowpress required.

      @@ochiAUT I agree, they all have strengths and weaknesses, just depends what u value more. I was at the bow shop last night testing bows and I ordered an 80lb rx5. I couldn't tell the difference in weight, it shoots like a dream, it'll be warm to the touch, and I can get it in 80lbs to make up a little bit of speed, from my shorter draw length. I just dont think budget is a reason to denounce a bow. Is the warm to touch worth the extra 500 bucks? Thats to every individual, I've never owned a carbon bow, guess I'll find out

    Wow, a carbon bow that costs 700.00 more than the aluminum version and weighs the exact same at the same specs?! Haha hoyts logic makes as much sense as any of these changing corona virus mandates and statistics. Par for the 2020 course Hoyt!

    It’s damper, not dampener.

      Gonna have to disagree on that one. It doesn't make the string more damp. It dampENS the vibrations.
