    It’s expensive but if u can afford it buy it it’s by far the best bow I’ve ever shot

  • @paulcoffey4221

    What most here don’t get is that most of the weight in a bow is from the limbs, limb pockets. The risers themselves don’t weigh much. Everyone complains about the weight but if you look at very hoyt carbon made. The weight diffeeence spread vs aluminum has always been the same. The difference now is these newer bows have more beef. Bigger limbs, bigger limb pockets, thicker riser which makes a better built bow in my opinion.

    • @livingadreamlife1428
      @livingadreamlife1428 3 роки тому +2

      This is true. A studier and stronger bow was needed to increase limb stress and, as a result, speed. I would agree that a little heavier bow that offers superior performance through a faster speed, is quieter, offers a much smoother draw, and allows a heavier draw up to 80 pounds is well worth the extra ounces.

      @@livingadreamlife1428 You do a good job on the videos. The problem with most bow reviews out there is they all hammer on the weight thing too much instead of explaining why it’s probably a good thing.

    Shot the RX5 and RX5 Ultra side by side against an RX3 yesterday...Quiet, draw cycle in 30 inch close to RX3, wall on RX5 and RX5 Ultra is better. Dead in the hand, the best that Hoyt has done. The RX5 Ultra concedes about 11fps (I draw 27 1/2 inches) to the RX3 and to the RX5, but the draw cycle is a lot smoother. Mike's Archery review is dead on accurate, thank you.

    My favorite bow of all time has been the Hoyt Alphamax 32 bone collector edition hands down! It felt amazing it shot perfect and was just all around a great bow!! Now this is all my personal opinion but hands down the best bow I’ve ever owned… and I’ve had a lot since then but can’t ever get back to that feeling of that bow!

    How would a dovetail sight be feasible with that picatinny sight mount? And is the arrow rest dovetail mount removable? Since it takes up space and chunky arrow rests like Hamskea doesn't fit...

    • @MikesArchery
      @MikesArchery  3 роки тому

      The sight mount is a rail that sandwiches on the front of the riser as seen in the video. The rest mount is machined into the back of the regular rest mount and doesn’t take up any space. A standard rest can still be mounted as it always could.

    • @MikesArchery

    I shot this bow the other day. One thing I noticed out of the box the finish up by the top limb pocket the paint was starting to chip off in one big piece about as big as a dime. I noticed that finish that od green or what ever there calling it is a very very thick paint. Do you think it’s prepainted weight there listing. I’ve seen 3 of these bows so far with that color were the paint is chipping off before you even set it up. Let me know what you think

    • @MikesArchery
      @MikesArchery  3 роки тому

      Possibly could be pre paint weight. It definitely has a thick coat of paint/cerekote or whatever they are using. We have had some customers that are concerned about chipping as well. There wasn’t any problems on the one we received but I could see there being an issue if it starts chipping in one spot and continuing to get bigger.

    Bow manufacturers need to stop putting new bows out every single year. The "new" tech on bows just doesnt justify the stupid high prices of bows these days, especially when you lose so much value almost immediately. It has become a very "fad" sort of industry. Thank marketing I guess.

      Chill out bro. It's the inflation, or you can call it devaluation of the American dollar . Blame the government and the FED for that. Spending too much, "printing" money from thin air is creating just that,... inflation. The annual inflation rate is always a lie. It has nothing to do with reality.
      It's not manufacturer's fault.

      @@trackhoehunter2544 I assumed it would be obvious, to everybody, that nobody forces a purchase. You prove me wrong. But that goes without saying. Its just my thoughts. People can spend their money anyway they want. And obviously, again, if people are willing to talk themselves into paying crazy prices for minimal or diminished returns then then of course companies will keep pumping out very similar products and charge more $. Why wouldnt they?! Just my own personal opinion. I love bows. But I dont feel the technology in bows changes enough year to year to warrant a new purchase for a while. Id much rather they wait a few years and come out with something worth paying x amount of $ due to new tech. But again, why would they when people pay up year after year for a similar, if not identical, product as the previous year. Like I said, good marketing will have people with more $ than sense throwing their credit cards at these things just so they can end up on archery talk classifieds for sale this coming fall. But hey, more power to you or whoever to have at it!

    I live not too far from the Hoyt factory and in the past was a huge Hoyt fan, so I was excited to go back to Hoyt after a couple of PSE’s. Bought the RX5 on the recommendation of a pro i trusted!
    Just sold it after 2 month of RX5 disappointment. Worse new bow experience I’ve ever had. It’s heavy, slow, awful draw cycle, points like crap, aims like crap, and shoots oh so average. The HBX cam is god awful, rotator cuff tearing draw cycle, that is still ineffeucent. The valley is gushy and the back wall is fair at best.
    It has more than hand shock if any other high end bow I’ve shot!
    The balance is strange, just uncomfortable, even though I outfitted mine with the Hoyt ultra rest, HHA integrated sight, and the Hoyt carbon 4 arrow integrated quiver. My buddy bought one the same day and his is up for sale too.
    I shot mine after I bought it against the Mathews V3, Elites, PSE and primes and honestly as a former Hoyt guy it was the worst bow on the rack out of all of them. My 9 year old EVO 6 is better in every way except noise. The RX5 is quiet.
    I’ve never sold a bow in my life but I could not get ride of this POS fast enough. Had to loose $600 bucks just to get rid of it. I think I’m going with the V3 but want to shoot the EVO EVL.
    Oddly enough I’ve never had a bow that I’ve noticed that is this difficult to carry into the field! It’s just strange, I have to keep switching hands and it’s never balanced or comfortable, all of which is distracting during the hunt.
    Did Hoyt miss the mark with the RX5, sadly by a country mile!!!
    Please before you buy one shoot it against literally any of the flag ship bows out there and you will see it is just not up to par with others! Save yourself $500 in the process.

    That’s ONE thing that drives me nuts about a lot of these companies’ (full disclosure - I’m sponsored by one of them but I’m not sayin which one, lol) claims - they’re disingenuous. In the old days we called that lying. I mean, when you have to start pulling of NECESSARY items just to, “make weight” it’s just seems as sketchy as fighters nearly killing themselves to claim a weight that won’t match what it is when they step in the ring. WHY can’t they just be honest and tell you what it weighs when you pull it out of the box?? Or tell you actual, real world speeds? It ain’t just Hoyt, by any means; but this one sure seems to have a lot of ‘disingenuous’ built in.

    Nice. I like it, but it’s not a price I can justify talking my wife into allowing me to purchase. I’m more looking at the Bowtech Solution SS or SD now and letting my wife keep that left over $500 savings. When it comes to new technology I think the new BT would be better for me 🤔

    And I don’t not buy into keeping up with the Jones’s bullshit either……marketing tactics and very misleading to most unaware customers

    Hoyts been sleeping for years. Glad they finally ditched the cam and a half and went to a more binary system. But overall I was let down. This would of been a great bow from them 3 years ago. But no turbo model, bows heavy, draw is mediocre. IMO much better options out there from pse, mathews, and bowtech.

      Yes, they definitely missed the mark on the weight for sure. At this weight there is no benefit of carbon vs aluminum

    My bear cruiser g2 will shoot just as fast, just as accurately, and weighs 2 lbs less. Lmao what a joke ! And I could buy 3.25 of them for the price of this Hoyt !!!
