    Loved your video! I watched how you made the snares first but needed to know how you use them and boom, you had another video! Just about the time I was wondering if you ever catch more than one at a time, boom, you caught two! I wondered how long they had to cook for and once again you provided that info too. That shows what a great instructor you are, really appreciate it! Now, what do you marinated your wings in, lol.

    Make sure you put them in upside down! Then the legs won't hang up on the side of the pot! Nice catch! Thanks for thte tutorial! Texan looking to go crabbing!

    Are you able to see any movement on the rod tip when crabs are on your snare?

    • @BackFishing
      @BackFishing  2 роки тому +2

      Sometimes when conditions at slack tide are right. When the water and waves are not crashing and moving your line. Otherwise, just a gentle 3 ft pull often tells you if you have a passenger on your snare by how heavy it feels. Good question.

    I don’t see too many vids of people fishing w snare on Oregon Coast, mainly Cal folks. I wonder why that is.
    Where abouts on the coast are you?

    • @BackFishing

      The Clam type trap vs Snare is definitely more popular here in the Oregon Coast. Here in Oregon there are so many areas where you don't have to cast far to get crabs. I've seen people hand line and toss those Clam type traps. I'll do more videos on snaring and where it's best suited. Thanks again for your question. GL 🤙🏼 🤙🏼 🤙🏼

      Interesting. Yesterday I used a crab hawk and also a snare at Westport Washington. I found the the crab hawk got more crabs, but they were smaller and when they were legal size, I lost many as I tried to hoist up the pier. The snare got less crab but many more legal size, and were more secure when bringing up to the pier.
      Each technique has it’s pro and con depending on the environment..I am learning that a day crabbing is a lot more fun than a day salmon fishing. Thanks for all your great videos.

    Is multiple pole use allowed without any license upgrade?

    • @BackFishing
      @BackFishing  Рік тому

      You are allowed multiple poles with the snares just like you can crab with 3 crab rings or 3 cages. GL

    Kill the crab first. Check. UA-cam

    • @BackFishing
      @BackFishing  2 роки тому +1

      I usually dispatch them by knife through the middle top of the crab's apron but I gave it to a friend for Thanksgiving. I've seen on UA-cam videos people just dropping them in boiling water which they say is quick and humane. Another way which I don't agree much is putting them to sleep by ice and then dropping them in the boiling pot. I like my way with the knife. Which method works for you dispatching the crabs? Maybe there is better way.

    Putting live crabs into boiling water isn’t cool. Won’t watch any more of your videos based on that alone.

      Sorry....I gave this to a friends mom. This was unexpected. Some people actually prefer this method. Quickest way for them. I have heard icing them too, but I dispatch them with a stab in the abdomen. Different strokes for different folks. You have a special way which is more humane? Pls. share.
