Thank you everyone for watching the video! If you liked the video, I would appreciate if you could like, comment, and share the video with friends. If the video is a success, I will incorporate more underwater footage in future videos! Thanks!
Just curious about no weight. Seems like you get out there far enough but other guys use some weight. Maybe more weight from a actual beach. Just a quick ?
Excellent video! I have noted that in some areas, the near shore crabs tend to be those undersized females, and the males hang out farther offshore. Thanks for the instructional bits; I gotta get my snares out!
Always like those GoPro shots. Also like those epic ocean kayak vids, I’m always on edge that you’re going to run into something big and scary out there LOL. The catch and cook vids with Ish always make lunch look so good. See Ya.
Yeah, I might have to try that, since the way I've been doing it is by grabbing the two or four back legs. The problem with my technique is that it sometimes breaks the crabs legs off. And that ain't so cool if if isn't a keeper.
It's a good possibility that you caught the same female a couple of times. I think that it's a good idea to have a plan when landing the crab I usually have a small net, sometimes a crab is not snared but just holding on to the bait and you can still net them.
Speaking from personal experience I would recommend checking your crab snare every 6-10 minutes, especially if your using squid as it’s easy for them to pick out of the cage. I generally use chicken and out crab most people around me who use natural bait fish, the chicken is cheap and lasts long. I’ll usually cut 1big piece to fill the entire cage so it’s nearly impossible for them to take out (sometimes 2 pieces). Great video btw, I’m looking forward to seeing more crabbing videos!
I did notice on the video that the crabs started coming in to check out the bait around the 5 min mark so you could be right on checking the snare every 6-10 min. Might have to do a side by side test of chicken and squid to see which performs better!
great job and good info.In my experience If you cut the squid and expose the guts the crab will respond quicker due to the smell rather than just putting a whole piece or two in the snare.
Yeah . . . one of the two crab snaring videos I am currently editing, the one from this past Saturday, March 31, I actually show how I started putting cuts in the squid now before putting it in the snare. Cuts, but not cut all the way through the squid, so that when the squid piece breaks and gives way, it'll hopefully be enough movement to clue you in that there is a crab down there. I should have that video out in a few days. I am putting together a video first from the snaring I did this past Friday night, March 30. I did so much snaring this weekend I think my right arm is going to fall off.
Attaching the underwater camera to your crab snare is definitely one of your great ideas! We need more underwater footage! Do you know how deep the water is over there?
wow that is some AMAZING footage! Best snare footage ever seen. you're so lucky you not only got it to land upright, but also caught a crab on it! Perfect demonstration of how easy it was for a crab to walk into the loops, and then show them tightening. Although I liked the simultaneous pulling action shot, I wish I could see the ensnarement full screen. great vid! nice crab. I'm coming up this weekend to do some crabbing!
Nice seeing that you pointed out/tagged the other creatures in the Go Pro footage. I always tie my Crab Gage to the snares so can not forget them..plus one extra in car as the "just in case"..nice video as always.
Great video, the camera on the bait box showed me what I wanted to see. I was wondering about how much the snares moved with the current. Took guts to put the camera on the snare where you were crabbing. I've lost a number of snares the one time I went there.
Great underwater footage. It seems that if we could view more of this kind of footage, it might give us all ideas of new crab snaring techniques, and for those who make them, new ideas for snare design. The water was super clear this past weekend. Was that one of the Go Pro box type cameras?
I gave it a like. Not the worst video ive seen and ive snared there, takes stones to risk your go pro there. Cool under water video so it worked out for you.
Don't look down upon Asian.Slippers to the beach is more convenient.People wearing anything is their choices.Thats the way they like it。Don't you have your slippers in your house? You just never wear it out. Or you have no money buying it?Or you discriminate against slippers?
Cool video, really like the underwater shot. It is true that “objects do look bigger and wider on the GoPro,” I thought that crab was 7 inches and I yelling pull the snare, pull the snare :). I wonder if you can buy a WiFi camera and connected to your snare and view the image on your phone live so you will know when to pull. It might have a depth and distance limit though.
Yeah I don't think the wifi would work under water, would be cool if it did though! Objects do usually look bigger on the GoPro because the have a wide angle lens. Thanks for watching!
Yup, been out there a few days ago and caught a whole bunch of females that were just a hair shy... Love the underwater go-pro view...when the crab got snare weeeeeeeeee! Lol. If there a way, I've always wanted to see underwater view while fishing
Thanks for watching! I think it will be a bot tougher to see underwater while fishing because there are more moving parts and the water is deeper. But we will see what we can do!
Great vid man! We've been freediving for them, and dropping crab pots for years... but after seeing this we're going to have to give snaring a try! Looked like a really fun day! Let's do a collab vid some time!
Is that program better than the Go Pro Studio? Go Pro Studio is all I've ever used. Sometimes it doesn't cut the clips in the places that I mark it at. It's okay, but frustrating sometimes.
What kind of line do you use and at what pound test? I tried it once with 45lb mono on my traps on a windy day and the winds kept on blowing all of my loops shut! Did you ever have that problem?
I don't make these, I just bought them at the local tackle shop. I believe it is somewhere around 100 pound mono. I never have any issues with the loops closing
@@myriahjasmine1341 Could I also be so bold to ask you if you'd like to go out sometime to do some fishing and trapping? A beautiful woman who fishes is a rarer than a whale encounter. I actually am planning to do that exact idea! Next time out on the kayak I am planning to drop down a crab pot with the GoPro strapped on.
Just curious about no weight. Seems like you get out there far enough but other guys use some weight. Maybe more weight from a actual beach. Just a quick ?
Is it just me, or is anyone else excited sandabs are so close to shore! I've been on a mission to find them in HMB on my kayak.
Would love to see more underwater shots, very cool to see what's going on at the end of the line.
I have been watching every snaring video with underwater video this year. Thanks a lot. It helps me improve my snares!
Glad I could help! Its always interesting to see what is going on down there.
More underwater footage please
More to come!
Great footage! Loved it... Keep doing them please! Can't wait to see your next video..

Goodshit so out the gate you can use two poles the inside the gate one pole only
Yep! Unless other restrictions limit the amount of poles. For example, one pole for rockfish and salmon regardless of where you are fishing.

thanks you 👍
Crab- Hey free meal in a tiny cage.
10 minutes later
Crab- WTF?
How much do those crabs weigh?
Never done any snaring, making my own snares for this season and They are turning out great. Bout $2 a snare.

Where is this jetty?
Can you tell me what size line you are using please?
40 pound braid
So that's not illegal to use two poles one fishing for crab one fishing for fish I thought San Francisco Bay was a 1 pole only
That is true that the SF Bay only allows one pole. This was not in the SF Bay though. Perfectly legal in the open ocean as far as I know.
