    Roy you allow your students to learn to feel confident in their skills. You have no ego which is awesome! You one of my favorite teachers in the world!

    It’s insane how easily the higher belts can switch levels. They can have absolute mercy or can tap you out effortlessly.

    Roy you are such a great instructor. You can tell you allow them to practice their lessons with you and that gives them confidence. I wish you were my instructor.

    I love that Roy can allow students to work, and is able to tap without ego. Such a champion.

    I could follow quite well this roll. However there are videos of him from 10 years ago, where he already rocks with some of the fluidest jiu-jitsu I ever saw. Now he's 10 years more experienced than that, it's just beyond my comprehension what he knows inside his mind...

    I love watching a black belt that knows how to let his students catch him.

    Roy Dean ... your videos are unique. How you explain each technique, the angles, the slow mo rewind in between as well... at first I didnt see the point of it, but now when it comes to these techniques , surprisingly it helps. If you dont understand the move being done normally. You will definitely understand it when its played in " rewind " and slow mo.
    Again, thank you for the content and knowledge.
    Sincerely, White-Belt from Huntington Beach CA.

    How was that final move a submission? Does it have a name? It looked a little uncomfortable but I don’t see how it’s a choke. Was he just tired?

    Not super flowy. Looks more like letting the lower belt work? Still nice though. 👍

    • @bryanjordan8876
      @bryanjordan8876 4 роки тому +2

      Exactly, lol. The lower the belt, the more they will try to come out on top, the less flowy it will look.
      Roy was toying with this guy, but it's nice to see the blue belt have to work for his position and submissions.

      Bryan Jordan he was purple but yes Roy does let people work

  • @mjolnir9855

    Did you all see Roy push the guy's hips over to the far side to cinch in that triangle? A teacher helps you beat them. A subpar coach always has to win out of fear of "looking less than." But when you are so good that you can show your skills are higher than everyone else's, then you start not caring about winning for the sake of winning, and you start caring about how to pass on the art and actually make others BETTER.

    Can someone explain to me why he lets his lower belts tap him? I’ve recognized this and seen it many times now

    • @GordonMarkHarris2
      @GordonMarkHarris2 4 роки тому +1

      Luke Thomas, likely several reasons. He wants to see how good they are and how much they have improved. He wants them to be aggressive and to be confident. He wants them to know they can do what they want and he will roll accordingly. Afterwards, he “turns it up” ever so slightly as an invitation and a reminder that you have more to learn and that was significantly easier for Roy to tap them than they could likely realize. (Just my take on it all)

    • @jonzwikk1582
      @jonzwikk1582 2 роки тому

      ive noticed the same thing. i think he just wants to show them that he isnt an egomaniac and doesnt mind being tapped by his own students
