Hey Chaps! Big question... do we like the HUGE touchpad?
The extra reach you get from it on the 3k resolution really made a difference for me. I always run out of space when dragging files across the screen on smaller ones!
it is okay. i do not mind it
@itcamefromabox fair enough!
Agree with you mate, the touchpad is a let down for this product. Also, nearly fell of my chair when I heard this thing has a manufacturer claimed 22hr battery life! Seems like someone somewhere is running a bet to see which company can make the most ridiculous battery life claim on these snapdragon laptops!
Nope. Regarding your question, yes, it is dumb
Love mine! Build quality is top notch, the 16" screen is fantastic, great keyboard and trackpad. Performance is great, not best for gaming, but more than enough for heavy mutl-tasking 👍👍
can we play apex/fortnite?
hows the battery life on norma;l usage?
@@SanathNarayan On low settings sure, but at this price point, there's much better options for gaming! Battery life with heavy multitasking got me 7-8hrs. Now just media alone almost gets to the 20hrs which is nutsss
Hi,,, did you check if the screen supports S-Pen?
@@mao9008 No s-pen support :[ the screen is very responsive so I'm surprised they didn't include that support 🤔🤔
Yeah exactly Gaming and Google Drive aside these are now ready for prime time. I really don't consider Games a major negative too. There are much more equipped Gaming PCs.
13 real hours of battery life is a game changer for me, especially if the fan stays quiet. Will wait how it elvoves and potential deals. But finally we are not forced to move to a Mac.
😂 even reviewers get confused which version they have 😂
There’s like 5 different kinds of galaxy book too!
@Thetechchap yeah it's just funny that it can happen and the names r terrible
@@Thetechchap 0:41 0: 1:15 1:57 2:04
@@markpond8136what’s the issue there?
@@Thetechchap yeah when they announced it I was like... so is the edge supposed to be better than the ultra? worse? or what
i hate that the touchpad is not centred
Num pads are useful though.
@@bradavon if you need a number pad that badly, get an external one
It is centered for the 14" one.
@bradavon and who said it's only can be centered with the main keyboard part..? The numpad us good, but if it's part of the keyboard, then the designers should find the new center of the keyboard instead of keeping the trackpad on the same spot like without the numpad..
@carlwheezer1544 having an external one kinda defeats the point of portability. People use numpads for their jobs especially with excel.
Samsung wanted to pull an Apple with the trackpad and over did themselves😂
The trackpad and lack of facial recgonition.
And yet Apple's trackpad is actually good and is haptic while Samsung had driver issues with the trackpad for years.
Non-expandable storage too. That's close to a deal breaker for a Windows laptop.
@@ArthropodSpidey Remember all the years of Apples butterfly keyboard? Don't flatter yourself! 🙄🙄
Every laptop that has off center touchpad is a no go for me
Yh I agree, why would they even positioning that way in the first place ? , it is just weird
@@Omar-kl3xp They put it so that it is centred on the keyboard since that laptop has a numpad. That way you can switch between typing and mousing easier. But I agree that it looks bad.
Yeah that trackpad kind of ruins it. You have almost no palm room on the left hand side, and no haptics?!??!? Seriously just copy the MacBook trackpad and call it a day. Diving-board trackpad in 2024 is not okay.
No. Macbooks trackpad is not nicer to use by comparison. Smaller trackpad and normal click is much better. When I switch from my work MB Pro to Asus Zephyrus, it feels much nicer and I don't misclick
@@MartinzWthat’s definitely a lie ,MacBook trackpad in my opinion is easily the best trackpad out there and it is been like that for over a decade at this point .anyone that used windows laptops and MacBook knows that MacBook trackpad are just better . Samsung could just copy the same tech and make the trackpad better for their laptop like it is insane that in 2024 they still deliver trackpad like that when this technology existed for over a decade.Btw I have tried many different windows laptops ,I have tried dell , ASUS and lg too ,none of them came close to MacBooks trackpad ,that’s one of first things I noticed when I switch between MacBooks to windows laptops .At the moment I have a fell Xps laptop and a MacBook m3 max for work .
@@MartinzW you must be a masochist to like that kind of trackpad. Who misclicks on a MB trackpad lol I don't think I ever have. I mean maybe if you have tap-to-click instead of press-to-click turned on.
@@chuck7415 This is so weird to me. I haven't used press-to-click other than to drag and drop in at least 5 years. Why do people prefer it over tap-to-click?
The track pads not that bad, just kinda shocking at first. Great palm rejection and much smoother surface than I felt on the Surface 7. Glad I got mine.
This laptop is absolutely amazing. I've had it for 9 days already and the trackpad is not a problem. Battery life is amazing and size and weight super!
I absolutely love mine. The track pad size isn't an issue for me to type on at all. First Window's machine that I'm actually keeping and stoked about. The screen is top notch, keyboard feel is 10/10. It's fast, dead quiet and the battery is superb. The only complaint I have are the speakers. Not the best
My Surface Laptop 7 with SD X Plus/512GB arrived the other day. Man it's good. As smooth as the M1 Air (haven't used M2/M3). Seems to me unless you Game or use Google Drive these are now for everyone (Adobe apps coming soon). Significant improvement over any Intel laptop I've used.
how long does surface laptop7 last
With a video loop back test he did, a UA-cam Andrew Marc David did the loop back on Surface Laptop7 and got 22 hours.
I mean google drive will probably work in a few weeks.
That preview pic has so much greeting card energy
haha.. thank you. 🙃
Not over reacting. The ridiculous trackpad size was my deal-breaker too.
Samsung settings look a lot more sane than the native Windows settings app. 🙂
I agree! 😅
Dont they even have different looking settings for the same thing ? I tried to do the energy setting and its a total mess.
The only problem I have with Samsung laptops is that in Canada there is only option for the weird bilingual keyboard.
C'est la loi qui l'exige. Le Canada n'est pas monolingue comme les USA. Si ça te dérange, vas te déménager là-bas. Bon voyage.
@@tally1604 stop talking your nonsense the Microsoft model one doesn't have it and I have a Dell and an Asus laptop at home both bought at BestBuy in Canada which does not have the crap French weird keyboard on them!
@tally1604 That might be a Quebec law but it certainly isn't a Canadian one. Both languages are official but that doesn't mean French keyboards for all. No need for the rudeness.
They have done great. But why can’t more companies do simple naming.
M1 with Pro and ultra.
M2 with Pro and ultra.
And so on it’s fairly simple
Yep agreed, even their phone chips are easier to understand (8 gen 1, gen 2, gen 3 etc)
Because, unlike Apple, windows machines come in a lot of varieties, even from the same vendor. Thay is how Apple gets away with only 2 simple names.
Excelente video Arturo, seguimos vientdo los módulos y demás videos
The ultra mega trackpad trend is definitely annoying. I have my pointer speed high enough that a huge trackpad isn't necessary, so it ends up just being wasted space.
Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra with Snapdragon x gonna be the best tablet with that amoled display
Unfortunately, it's not gonna have an X chip
@@eemoot no problem according to the leaked benchmarks, the sd 8 gen 4 is more powerful than most laptop cpus.
@themonkeyman2790 Yeah, that's good, but only the ultra will have the 8 gen 4 most probably. I already have the S9 Ultra, and it's super big. I love it, but I want a smaller one next time. So that's unfortunate.
For future model:
Center trackpad, make it smaller, haptic
Remove numpad
Make chassie the same thickness on the side
I need Numpad
It already exists. Get the 14 inch model.
Too many issues for me. Lenovo Snapdragon X Elite version is better. The biggest advantage is synchronization with a Samsung S23/S24 phones and using Lightroom & Adobe Photoshop on those cellphone photos.
It's annoying Samsung is keeping their Quick Share app for their Samsung ARM PCs only but for Intel PCs there's a version of Quick Share on the Windows Store for any Intel PC, not just Samsung's Intel PCs 🤔
I swear all you people loved the Mac books large track pad, now no one likes large track pads lol.
@sugarbait That is because Apple does the trackpad right. There has to be the right size ratio based on the size of the laptop. Plus since this trackpad is off-center it makes the trackpad look way worse being larger.
My big problem with these laptops is not the big trackpad it is the app support that bugs me.
Great video, what fan mode were you on?
for benchmarking, the high performance mode. Otherwise the default balanced
@@Thetechchap Great, thanks
I guess you the only one who pointed out the issue(Thank you) with big trackpad and uncomfort it brings for typing due to its size.
Thats my concern ever since I saw this huge trackpad in 4series galaxy laptops
Helpful review. BTW, Please compare Intel 7 ultra powered Galaxy Book 4 pro with this Snapdragon powered Galaxy book Edge.
Edit: 7ulta, not i7.
7 ultra
@@leohart7468 ya sorry, my mistake, not i7. It should be core 7ultra. As a habit I said i7.
the main advantage is battery life U7 only last for ~4.5hrs but thr Xe can last for 9+hrs
My main problem with the trackpad is not the size but the fact it is not centered at all
I was in two minds. Go for the 14 or 16 inch. Went for the 1tb for the "better processor"
Muscle memory with older laptops and smaller track pads, but you get used to it.
Going to do a Marathon of Tom's videos to see if I get the 14-15 hours.
Anyone noticed a difference between edge and chrome? Task manager shows Edge uses more Ram, not by much but because these processors are very new, want to get the best performance/battery life.
I'd like to see comparison of some x86 apps running on latest Intel laptop CPUs vs on Snapdragon. How good is the translation layer? Because many Windows apps are not getting an ARM port any time soon: it's not like anyone can drive the transition to ARM like Apple were able to do. Windows ARM will still be niche in 2 years, plenty of consumers and business customers will still be playing safe and buying Intel/AMD. Most devs are not going to port their apps to ARM for a tiny percentage of users.
And these predictions are based on what, exactly?
@@OluwadiyaKehindeThe past 5 years of Windows on ARM
Windows on ARM is becoming popular.
Will u test the 14 inch model?
32GB RAM or replaceable RAM and I would have bought it. Went for the smaller Yoga Slim 7x instead :')
Thx for the video, how would you compare the OLED display to the ASUS G16 2024? I noticed that the Samsung screen is 8-bit and I believe the ASUS G16 is a 10-bit display.
The massive screen bezel.
Interested in the comparison of Book4 Edge with the Book4 Pro Models with Intel Core U7
This one stands out for me due to the oled screen and its anti reflection technology samsung uses on the s24 ultra. Love the phone screen and might love this laptop more. But yes, i will be waiting for the next gen Snapdragon, haptic trackpad, SD card, change the usba to usbc on the right side and better speaker. Then it will be a real competitor to Apple or any other brands.
Could you make a video on how these snapdragon processors performs while using video and photo editing software, blender and other stuffs .
Premiere Pro isn't supported (won't install), and Blender runs VERY slowly. I will try to make a video about this in a few weeks, but currently it's a bit of a messy situation
@@Thetechchap Okay ,will be waiting.
at the moment, u will buy for necessity edge4 16" or an hp 17" with 155h and 32gb ram, full hd? will use for coding
Likiing the look of the Asus Zenbook S16 BUT as you said will be waiting to see how things pan out.
Really hoping we see a Surface Laptop Go running the SD Elite Plus. We now need mid range laptops because a grand is to much for s tonne of people.
Or with the X Plus - yes!!
I have a question. Mine flickers for like a second sometimes when i start up or open the laptop after not using it for a while. Does that happen to you?
What about compatibility? I was unable to run a java program with mine. Can we expect thoese problems to be solved within weeks?
love the new haircut.
10:04 Thanks for telling not to buy 😂 i know those are minimal use , but me hard gamer's , I don't buy it ❤❤❤❤ i go for Intel u series or Amd chipset... , That more fps for Gaming ❤
They definitely tried to pull an apple on that trackpad, and it being off centered is honestly worse than the size of it.
I need the GPU performance to go up significantly. While I have a gaming PC at home. I need my laptop to be able to handle some light gaming as well. I recently got an intel Ultra 7 instead of SD X Elite because that has a better GPU but I really think ARM laptops are the future so hoping the next Gen has much better GPUs so I can jump ship next year.
So, will the "Recall" feature come or not?
It will, but in a few weeks/months
I actually love the mouse pad. I think it's funny that folks complain about clicking, when I almost never actually click anymore. Taps and gestures are way better and Samsungs is super responsive
We bought a laptop from Lenovo and not happy with it's performance since the lack of media centric approach. So we will definitely give second thought
I really need a 4G/5G modem on my laptop. Is there any way to unlock the modem on the snapdragon cpus?
Any Improvements in gaming performance are Qualcomm's gpu driver update
I need more time to test it, but it's supposed to make a handful of games run a bit more smoothly (or crash less)
Wow great naming structure from Qualcomm lol.
When will you review the galaxy book 4 ultra
I haven't been able to get one in yet to test
3:20 Why did you just throw the end of the Cable on the Laptop? It could give it scratches
it survived
I agree, touchpad was too big. When I got mine I was like, holy crap that's huge. Why?
Nah, strix point is the way. ARM for windows has always sucked, and I'm sure they'll get it right this time... Right? RIGHT????
we need a pixel book?is the end of the cromebooks?the 00 chip version of bthe X elite is for phones?
nope! , its the most powerful of the x elites, its currently only available in the snapdragon dev kit, you can call it the m3 max of the x elite
The phone's looking at both laptops laughing at their battery life :) xD
But what about the xps 13 9345 ?
Over reacting or not, i love the honesty, makes me believe your other reviews are legit
Should i get galaxy book 4 pro 360 or should i get galaxy book edge ??? PLS help
No S pen with Edge people say
I have the same results for standby with my amd process, just debloat windows
Samsung don't sell these Galaxy books here in Malaysia..so sad 😔
Hey Bro..
Just wondering If You would ever Review Some Budget Friendly Student Laptops
Probably Under $500
Like for Example
I have Asus Vivobook Pro 15 with An AMD Ryzen 5600H CPU along with RTX 2050 GPU.
Hope You'd Spare some time to Reply.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't need my laptop to be as thick as a USB A slot. I'd happily trade a little for some rigidity/power, while remaining mostly slim.
I like it except the huge bezel at the bottom, why cant that be screen?
if you love, why is it your personal device?
I don't mind the giant touchpad, but at least they should've made it with haptic feedback like Apple. Macbook touchpads are arguably the best in any computer IMHO.
For 100 pound more.. A bigger screen, battery etc seems like a great deal
Great content. Why can't samsung make the phone display 3k🤔
Because they haven't found enough robots like you who can see the difference between 1.5k and 3k on a 6.7" display to buy it
@PrajjwalkumarDas but there are enough robots like me that can see 4k using the Sony phone. So yes, 3k can be achieved. Smarty.
I ditched Windows after years, I love my MacBook Pro m3pro. with 18 ram/512 plays really nice with my iPhone
4:45 "that's what she said"👀
👀
Hey i have a question about monitors if you could help me out real quick?
Sure!
@@Thetechchap Okay so i bought a monitor but i dont know how to access windows on it and web browser? do i need a pc for it or a laptop to connect it and have windows on my monitor?
No. But might in the future if most or all software will be native.
watching this on a new matebook x pro ultra core :P
Lol, the trackpad not having a haptic feedback is a huge huge deal breaker. Next.
is the SSD soldered on this, I read somewhere it is. If so NO ONE SHOULD BUY THIS.
These machines will need to wait for real Windows apps that take full advantage of the hardware registers of the Snapdragon X Elite SoC. And that will likely take a few years.
needs to be a haptic touchpad
You're not overreacting. It IS a dumb design. MacBook's large trackpads are symmetrical with the design and size of their body. That off-center trackpad on the Samsung just looks wrong. Furthermore these companies that make Windows laptops should do their own designs. When a company tries to copy a competitor's hardware look and feel it ends up being a bad clone. Great video!
Yes exactly! 👍
Galaxy book with smaller display has centered trackpad as it doesn't have a number keys on the side.
They have to make it off centre with number keys as they have to centre the trackpad w.r.t the qwerty keys
Monstrous! ⬛
Hello Tech Chap !! We need comparison between Apple ecosystem and Samsung ecosystem!! ASAP ♥️♥️🤗 Huge fan of you mate !!😍😍 love from India 🇮🇳🫂
i'll try and do this later in the year with the latest ios18
Yeah!! That would be wonderful 🤩🤩. Waiting for it 🔥🔥♥️. Thank you for your response 🤗🤗💐💐💐
If Qualcomm continue to confused their users, They may be loss some diehard Qualcomm user in the comming years. Their chip is confusing because it has a lot of varieties like they're not straight to the point.
Please Huawei mate 60 pro or Huawei mate 60 pro plus
14 inch flex, but waiting for the snapdragon version
Love how the buzz around AI is Artificial intelligence. Not Artificial consciousness.
that keyboard bothers me... I really don't know how useful it is for the majority of people to have the numpad there... and you're always going to be working to the left side... lol
Probably will wait for Ryzen 300 AI series😅
Honestly, all trackpads should be in the middle
keypads on laptop suck... your hands are not centered on the screen
I tested last week on a electronic shop, yes it has a very large trackpad but is basically useless. I mean u make a very large trackpad but u got the left and right click down below like every single cheap 200 € laptop, absolutely no trace of Force Touch like apple and news windows laptops has. This is unforgivable!
I also very disappointed is this reviewers that they talk extremely little and also not a single critic on the trackpad! I guess they all use mouse
Numpad is must have for me 100%
I HATE touchpads that aren't centralised! It's just so aesthetically displeasing to look at. All for the sake of adding a num pad which only 0.1% of users actually need......
Yes! It's incredibly annoying
One thing that definitely cheapens Surface devices. Is their old school ugly power cables. What Samsung and Apple do is much nicer.
If only they remove the number pad, make the keyboard and touchpad location to center and put speaker on side of keyboard
Yep - I'd prefer that too
Num pad is a must have for remote work people
Why do they even do built in Micro SD slots? What device is there in our everyday OR creative workflow, outside a GoPro and age old audio recorders like a Zoom F5, that still or mainly does use MicroSD?
I can understand leaving it away: Space is taken up, it costs money, yada yada yada. But MicroSD? Really? That's the compromise?
I can't copy files from my phone with it, most don't have an SD slot anymore - even in the budget segment. Backup my Switch savefiles? Likely not and even if, then I could simply use the very common and basically always included MicroSD to SD adapters.
But in a "realistic" use case, I will never use this integrated MicroSD card reader. Most external readers I'd need anyway at that point either have a MicroSD slot as well or can easily take the adapted smaller cards. Aside from all that, SD seems to be a dying standard as CF-A and CF-B become more common in at least cameras, but hey, how long have we waited for UHS-Ii support at this time? Years I'd say.
I'd rather have them leave it out and buy me a dongle than pay for a decently uselsss port on a machine that I'd actually buy to do work stuff or creative tasks on the go. Nothing, really nothing I use today, except for the named Action Cams or sound recorders, uses MicroSD for anything serious or significant.
Other reviewers: the app compatibility isnt great
This guy: I dONT liKE tHe thE tRackPAD
i spend about 1/4 the video talking about app compat
Please add chapters next time
Is it fanless?
no. but according to other reviews they hardly spin up in normal scenarios
Not fanless, and they did kick in under heavy loads (and if you set the mode to High performance), but mostly it's silent.
