I just saw this movie. I don't know why I waited. I thought it was excellent. I just love the way the whole story behind how this movie was made. I think it's fascinating. My only complaint is that they should of shown Bin Laden's face at the end at some point. I felt like that was part of the pay off of seeing his face somehow. The expression of fear when he new he was doomed in those final moments.
That's funny because there's a scene where one of the detainees actually says something along the lines of "I'll tell you anything, I don't want to be tortured again."
"Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow and her screenwriting partner Mark Boal were provided with a complete 'roadmap' of how the raid was planned during a 45 minute meeting with Michael Vickers - the country's highest ranking civilian intelligence official. The filmmakers also received briefings from top CIA and military intelligence officers and Navy Seals who carried out Operation Neptune Spear - attacking bin Laden's compound in Pakistan in May 2011."
Then I suggest you see the film, because you are incorrect. I saw the movie and it did not show the stealth helicopter being shot down. The helicopter was brought down by an updraft, not enemy fire. There was no enemy activity shown in the final sequence until after the SEALs breached the perimeter. And people have had similar issues with other films such as Black Hawk Down and The Hurt Locker, but no matter how much preparation, actors can never duplicate the soldiers' actions perfectly.
They are called Devgru. Seal team six was a civilian name and was to trying to intimidate the Russians making them think that we had a lot more Seal teams than they actually did.
And what, specifically, did they get wrong? Are you referring to the C.I.A.'s search for Bin Laden's couriers using "enhanced interrogation," or the details of the actual raid on Bin Laden's compound? Because as I said, they were given a complete roadmap of SEAL Team Six's raid from both CIA and SEAL Team Six itself. As for the interrogation scenes, the film shows that it did not provide any usable intelligence at all, and it was Maya's detective work that actually tracked down the courier.
It is not a Hollywood movie It is an independent film. From reviews, the movie is as apolitical as you can get and does not contain a commercialized or Hollywood-ized gloss to it.
The fact that the helicopter was not shot down, yet was shot down in the movie. The way the SEALs inserted and assaulted into the target, the way bin Laden died, all wrong. Not only that, but the actors simply cannot walk, talk, or behave like real SEALs do without their guidance. That's very important stuff to get right... Those are all things I've noticed, and I haven't even seen the movie.
That's right pal! You never asked for classified info, that weasle in the White House was more than happy to supply it to you! The hypocrisy makes me vomit!!
yep and that's when torture back fired, it blurred his memory and he began to spew out gibberish so they gave up. Torture didn't work on the guy and that's when Maya suggested to stop.
Exactly. Films are entertainment and expect to make money. If this was a Documentary, thats a different ballgame. THIS film just covers the "broad strokes" of what happend. That we should take these kinds of films with a bit of a grain of salt is just a given, and I wish more people would understand that.
"Received briefings from" is not the same as direct supervision from those who were there. The film makers got a lot of stuff wrong in this movie, so obviously they didn't listen...
Nope if you watched the movie, the guy got tortured so bad, he couldn't remember the date the CIA was asking for, It back fired on them and that's when they stopped torturing him because it was useless. The only useful information they got out of him was about his uncle while after tortured had stopped and they were treating him with a meal.
Yes, but that little piece of into did not stop any of the terrorist bombings depicted in the film, nor did it help in tracking down Abu Ahmed, or even prove that such a man existed. It was Maya's intelligence gathering and detective work that was most instrumental in finding Osama's compound. The intellignce gathered from interrogation was minimal at best, and it turned out that they already had intel on Abu Ahmed/Ibrahim Saeed that was misplaced after 9/11.
Females of a species are strong. "Look at the vegetable and the animal worlds. The palm which carries the fruit is the tree most prized by the date grower. The Arab knows that for a long journey the mare has the longest wind. For her greater strength and fierceness, the lioness is more feared by the hunter than the lion." ~ Baha'i Faith
If you're talking about gay marriage or abortion, then yes, the media tends to be liberal. When it comes to going after the criminals in government and corporate America, none of the mainstream networks do anything. Two guys getting married doesn't put more money in the pockets of the average American ...that's why the media is allowed to support it.
Watch the 60 min interview on this. Its pretty close from the raid point of view and it had to have to truth because through the movie there is incidents that did happen. It was an excellent movie.
Basically, Zero Dark Thirty is a CIA production. Kathryn Bigelow isn't much more than a CIA operative. The film tells you that torture can have some value. The film tells you that the CIA is made up of honest, ethical, tirelessly working patriots... fighting for the freedoms of all Americans. I would encourage everyone to look at what Republican John McCain has to say about this movie... your opinion might change.
I don't know whats real or not and i'm not giving a fucking scenario like some of the people here. I see Zero Dark Thirty as a movie and an excellent one based on the arts of making a film. The content may be flawed or the research done not entirely accurate. So stop criticizing it for being a glorification and statement for 9/11 and everything after. IT IS JUST A MOVIE. NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS. People should treat it as one
One22: No, it's not 100 percent bullshit but there's a fair amount of half truths or shaded truths. You see, a steaming pile of shit, sitting in the middle of the sidewalk, is easy to avoid/dismiss. But, if you grind the shit up into a fine powder and sprinkle several tablespoons into a large casserole that you're baking for a restaurant full of people... well, the vast majority will scarf it up and ask for seconds.
the movie was cool in theatres, then after re watching it you can see the blatant inconsistencies with the intel gathered pre assault and the actual events that take place on the night raid. for example the hundreds of kids that just amass in the bedroom, or the 5 women, not 3 and 4 males. idk to me that just upset me because it wasnt adressed
One interesting thing, is that they were already in development and possible filming of the movie, BEFORE they actual got UBL. so maybe that contributed? I dunno, that might not have factored into that, and that I was just so laser-focused and tense during the raid, that I was just so engaged lol. Interesting point though.
I'm really tired of talking to you youtube engineers.. How can you hold the testimony of a few experts, but throw the testimony of many, many, many more experts to the wayside?
"And Bigelow takes you there like no one else can"... Yeah, except Ridley Scott in Blackhawk Down and Steven Spielberg in Saving Private Ryan.....both far superior military/battle scenes. Blackhawk Down was far more intense for far longer, with far more moving parts, helicopters, troops, battles. Blackhawk Down, while not a great overall movie, was pure battle ferocity.....the raid in ZD30 does not even compare to the merciless battle that is Blackhawk Down.
yep i don't know shit. I can speculate & pick & choose what i believe but your right.in just about every aspect I don't know shit & for the most part I don't want to know. its deadly to watch ppl die
I'm not interested in your non-sequitor arguments about how me taking one position on something means i'm taking every position you just stated. If i punched you in the face, would you accepting that I punched you in the face also mean that you like cherry kool-aid? I can easily accept that 9/11 was a terrorist attack, and not believe that the government "cares about me" or "have my best interest in heart". Okay?
MAYA- on the off chance you see this post- I am trying to contact you- I have submitted several Freedom of Information requests- check video message I have for you, Message for MAYA
Independent film? That's why it's made by Oscar winner director and is very heavily commercialized trailers. From the trailers, it's already apparent it is very "hollywood-ized". The dialogue is always fabricated in films for more impact. Bin Laden being the scapegoat "boogyman" of Terror is Hollywoodized in itself already. Of course that Jesus loving good old White America Bushy cuddly funny grandma George W. can't be the bad guy... I mean just look at Bin Laden! Easily the bad guy! Yeeha!
Talk about riding on the "Military Movie" coattails. This movie is ridiculous. I'm sorry, but what is the purpose in making this movie? So Bigelow and Boal can try and win another Oscar based on the whole "supporting our troops" vote. Give me a break. Whats next Bigelow? You got a take on that one rocket that was launched by the US in the Libyan Revolution and the killing of Gaddafi??
I just saw this movie. I don't know why I waited. I thought it was excellent. I just love the way the whole story behind how this movie was made. I think it's fascinating. For gosh sake the Seals "canoed" him he had NO FACE OR TOP OF HIS HEAD.
He was made into cheese by the navy seals bullets.
That's funny because there's a scene where one of the detainees actually says something along the lines of "I'll tell you anything, I don't want to be tortured again."

Osama: wut free bizza?

The conversation here is what this film is promoting and not promoting, it has nothing to do with facts.
can't freaking wait!
9/23/2013: Watching this AWESOME MOVIE as we speak!!
"When people believe that what they are doing is right, who are we to say otherwise?"
yep and that's when torture back fired, it blurred his memory and he began to spew out gibberish so they gave up. Torture didn't work on the guy and that's when Maya suggested to stop.

Navy seals are so awesome i admire them like cray cray
"Received briefings from" is not the same as direct supervision from those who were there. The film makers got a lot of stuff wrong in this movie, so obviously they didn't listen...
4:13 cameraman trips up :P
Lol

Did Jessica Chastain character actually exist in SEAL TEAM 6, I keep re watching videos and can't figure out who she's actually playing.
No her character in the movie is fictional.
Nearly all characters in the film are fictional, made to mask the real identities behind the operation
This movie is getting great early reviews, can't wait to see it!

came here for GPNVG18
I hope that one day, maybe after her generation, the world will get to know who Maya was.
"You think you know the story". You think this is the story?
Independent means it is independently funded. Have you ever seen Kick-Ass it was an independent film.
It's a good movie. Stop arguing and just enjoy it for what it is.
Females of a species are strong. "Look at the vegetable and the animal worlds. The palm which carries the fruit is the tree most prized by the date grower. Daww, let me play you the worlds smallest violin.

Then who was it? As far as everyone knows it was the SEAL Team Six, AKA DEVGRU.
I've seen this movie 4 times, there are no sex scenes. This movie is about killing UBL, not the pornos you watch.
Watch the 60 min interview on this. Its pretty close from the raid point of view and it had to have to truth because through the movie there is incidents that did happen. It was an excellent movie.
Oh. Sorry. I have been misinformed in that case.
look at who started with your 5yr old attacks first and direct it to your little friend.
Oh my God, stop with the Illuminati-shit, please. Can't wait to see this movie. The Hurt Locker was amazing!
I liked the rollerskating scene.

something abt hate!! , no one is right !! no one is wrong !! its abt who wins inthe final !!

Unless the same SEALs who took part in the raid directly oversaw the production of this movie, then it isn't accurate.
Just saw the movie. I liked it. Some of the way the SEALS spoke in carrying out the mission didnt seem right. But cool movie over all.
Is this movie good
Very good. You would watch it more than once
Is it just me or is Bigelow just too hawt to be 60 years old in this interview?
I hope the actors playing SEALs had some sort of training.
Were you a former Seal. I laugh at the idea that as been out for a long time that people can pick out a Seal not in uniform. The Seals laugh at it.
You clearly have never seen the movie.
that's the movie Maya wanted to be in
I'm really tired of talking to you youtube engineers.. How can you hold the testimony of a few experts, but throw the testimony of many, many, many more experts to the wayside?
ad blocker. try it. you'll like it. takes 30 seconds and it's free.
Ummmm..... Buddy....... Never F*cking Happened
It's NSWDG now.

If one is an idiot, can one summon the intellect and self-knowledge to realize it? (I'd try and answer this, but I'm an idiot. I think...)

fully fake
soft, shitty TV journalism that doesn't tell us anything, as usual. Thanks ABC.
whats the purpose of making any movie?
Just saw the movie. Just another load of American propaganda. Almost fell asleep at one point. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........
