The dual wield can also cancel any attack with block which imo makes it insanelt useful against tougher bosses and also lets you parry just about everything.
@@L10N. The literal best stance for those who are aggressive and adapt quickly. Double bladed is really more passive ppl or ppl who dust want to get the ranged characters out (even tho I would just use blaster bc it’s faster)
The first channel to rate the cross guard so highly. Definitely seems like one that’s more parry-orientated then the rest, which may be the reason why so many others don’t like it
Slightly disappointed there is no move to change your saber when attacking like they did in the first game, it really made changing between stances look super smooth
@@megaavonaco9954 exactly! i could forgive it if they let us use at least 4 stances at once (a cool idea but can see why they didnt go this route). They made a changind animation for each stance set up (ie. dual to single or dual to double blade ect.) theres no reason they had to remove this fly as f*** move from a great game. only reason i can see is to add some more moves? and maybe not many people used this move but i did lol.
@@megaavonaco9954 The problem isn't how many you can wield at a time, the problem is how many exist in the game in total. In the first game, there were only 2 stances in total so the number of custom animations was also 2. Now there are 5, which means to create a custom animation for each and every combination of transition would bump it up to 20. That's a 10x jump in the amount of work required for something that is largely not all that important or consequential in the grand scheme of dev time priority. Now is it still disappointing? Absolutely. Did the, awesome, special transitions feel badass? Of course. Do I also wish they added them back in? Hell yes. But at the same time, it's also understandable why they didn't.
you're focusing too much on the autoparry for dual wield stance. It's not good. Dual stance's main draw is that its probably the safest stance if u have decent reflexes. Its ability to block cancel animations is so powerful and lets you constantly maintain pressure without getting caught in the middle of a swing. If the enemy does a normal attack you can cancel into a parry, and if they do an unblockable you can block cancel into precision dodge, its basically instant. I think the only weakness it has are enemies that love parrying as it makes it take long to break their posture. It's the only reason why I'm considering switching from blaster secondary to cross guard.
Blaster stance needs more credit imo. I beat the game using blaster stance and the fact you can easily flow and combo saber and blaster makes for fluid combos in close combat. Plus, the counter shot move can trigger multiple times when fighting groups, so you can get off like 3 charged shots in a row in quick succession
Blaster stance is soo fun, I use blaster + dual and it is very fun to combo between those two stances. Blaster stance is great close ranges and people don’t realize that.
I have surprisingly been using the double blade mostly. Thought I was going to be stuck on the dual blade but I think I actually prefer the single over them.
The cross guard is awesome when it’s 1v1 but when you have 5-6 guys coming at you at once it’s worthless. I use 3 stances for the most part. Always have the double blade and I switch between the dual and cross guard depending on what I’m doing. I hate the blaster stance. That’s the worst by far.
i use the doubleblade mostly atm. if the single sword stance would have the same sword moveset like the blaster stance it would be amazing. basically i want to play like count doku, and if could find a blade that looks similar to his, that would be amazing. hopefully in the future there will be a dlc or something that adds something like that
My issue with this game is, that respawn put so much work/rework in all the stances expect one; the single blade stance - the most iconic lightsaber stance in all Star Wars history and even real world sword history. It feels so lame compared to the other flashy stances. They improved the double wield in every possible way, why not the single blade? It feels sometimes like downgrade compared to FO.😢 Single blade is my favourite stance in all Star Wars, so yeah that’s why I’m a bit whiny. But objectively speaking I’m right? The improvements on the single blade are little.
This seems like a good game and cool stance mechanic, so no criticism is meant. But on seeing the title I hoped they equated to the seven lightsaber combat forms.
Sounds cool on paper, but idk how they would implement it in gameplay (Or fit it into the story), especially since Cal probably only learned form 1 (All Padawans/Younglings learn this one) and maybe form 6 from his master. He likely wouldn't know much of the others.
My 2 cents worth on the dual wield is that another drawback it has is its extremely long animation locks. So long in fact that you have to be even more careful when deciding to attack than the cross stance because it takes longer to finish the attack animation for dual wield than anything else, leaving you extremely vulnerable the moment you press that attack button
I noticed against the Rancor on grandmaster difficulty! I was wonder why I was doing so well single bladed against than dual wield. Then I realized it, it so easy to overcommit. The recovery animations outside the attack mash is sluggish. If you don't have force meter to backdash out, you will be caught slipping.
I did some more testing on it and you can only cancel with a block, but not after the first part of the attack is about to hit. Also the most likely time you'll need to cancel is when the enemy counters with an unblockable attack, so if you've only just started the animation and it's not about to hit you can still cancel with a block but it won't do any good
@@alfamari7675 such a shame because it’s “frequently mentioned” but not enough people are bringing up actual gameplay flaws so respawn doesn’t need to feel inclined to add it as idk maybe an gameplay option in settings so you can turn it off and on depending on PlayStyle
You can still parry with L1/LS when dual wielding. Learn the enemy counter timings and Dual Blade/Dual Wield is just a monster of a combination. Kas'im was the Brotherhoods Blademaster for a reason. The force parry is honestly for whittling down a large stamina bar on the enemy. Dive in with a flurry after and take both arms
Crossguard is my favorite cause I press less buttons to break someone’s guard. Not trying to parry regular enemies that much, dual wield is great for crowds though, no down time.
Gotta love how so many lists don't feel the same. The stances have so much personality that use is really up to your preference in combat. Although they could use more depth and maybe being able to switch to 4 stances instead of just 2 would be better, like holding L1 then choosing on the d-pad.
I'm quite stunned how much better the double-blade is. The Dual Wield stance I quickly came to despise but that double-blade rework shocked me,
The dual wield can also cancel any attack with block which imo makes it insanelt useful against tougher bosses and also lets you parry just about everything.

No problem for me. My style of play essentially focuses on not attacking first and waiting to parry
It breaks the guard of enemies like nothing, however it's mobility ruins boss fights
An accurate observation. Probably why they mentioned it's the most "souls" like stance
