- Even if I got some favourite motorcycle gloves, none of them are perfect. It is always a compromise and I understand that navigating this whole Adventure scene can be really difficult for a beginner. Getting some insight I why I choose like I do and what I use my gloves for can probably help you take a better decision when you are in the store feeling out your need gloves for this season.

Hi TS. All good points on gloves. These are the best of times for motorcyclists. Gloves to me are the usual, fit, performance, comfort. Also they are utmost for safety in all conditions. That is the premier factor in wearing them. The hands are generally the first to hit the pavement in a crash. A good glove that meets the riders criteria must also stay on the hand. A double cinch retainment system is best. Generally you get what you pay for or can afford. But not always. Learning from others , a little research is necessary. Being able to try on different pairs is a must. What seems right in the showroom may not be after just a few rides. Gloves stretch, bunch up, fade, bleed colors, break threads, tear apart. Others leak like crazy in weather when they aren't supposed to. I use a few supplements to my usual riding gloves. Thin silk liners, wool liners are virtually unobtrusive on long days holding the bars. They offer an extra degree of warmth and comfort when the weather may unexpectedly turn worse. Aerostitch sells glove covers which will keep your gloves and hands dry during a long wet riding trip. Pack small and function as designed. I always have carried them for over fifty years of riding in all climates and conditions. Heated grips are great addition to any bike. Either factory or universal grips such as Oxfords and others make a huge difference in hand warmth. You have much more dexterity and ability to control your machine and react to harmful circumstances in a bat of an eye. That can be a life saver. Hippo Hands are a good addition to northern climate and winter ridden machines. Not the best looking but very much effective in performance. When I started riding about all we had were work gloves, army surplus with wool liners. Neither were water proof or would stay on in the event of a crash. The best gloves were deerskin racing gloves. Handmade, not available across the counter and certainly not affordable. I wasn't always a made man like these days. I haven't forgot the days of almost nothing to ride in. There's really no one glove for all occasions but there are ways of having that with just a few items I have written about. Get the best of what you can afford and justify for your needs. They will pay dividends in the long run. Wear them.

Interesting episode Tjommi, one anoying thing with gloves is that they feels like best when the start to fall apart and need to be replaced 👀😂 Just to startover with the break in. I hate to ride with bulky cold season gloves, street/race bike gloves close to enduostyle gloves are my favorite, many of these just feels like an extension of your own skin/hand and usually are better protective gloves than enduro gloves. Keep it up!
Haha I could not agree more. Every time the gloves feels like it really fits, it's almost worn out 😂 And when you want to get a new one, they are out of production or have done updates to it that does not fit your hands. I really prefer thin gloves as well, much better feel for the bike, but because I have worked outside for many years, I get really fast and easy cold on my hands, so it is always a compromise 🤌🏻 More to come Tjommi, det vet du 🤩

Hahaha, I see that there are a lot of wordplays out of this 😂🙌🏻 Yeah, I did only find typical reviews online and my take on this is that there is no perfect one glove. I would love to see more of these kind of videos from others as well. Just to go about the likes and dislikes without it has to be a poor or bad glove.

Nice review Thomas, it's good when you find a pair of gloves that are day long comfortable. For me it's my Rev'it 3 Sand in 3 XL for the warmer months, and Richa Street Touring gore tex with a silk inner glove for the winter , ( and heated grips!). I don't know how people ride with big bulky gloves, or heavily armoured inflexible gloves! Cheers Steve 💚

I will probably need to test a pair myself one day. 🤔 Bulky gloves are the worst. Takes away so much feel, but I also hate cold fingers, so there will always be a compromise 😂🤌🏻
Good timing on this one! i only have two pair - rain/wind, and sunny/off-road pairs and really need to update what I have, so hearing your thoughts on these helps! As others have said, you really need to try on a bunch of different ones in a store to get it right! Even then, I've walked out of several stores glove-less because nothing they have feels right! Hahaha cool and funny how these things seams to work out. And yes, you really need to try and see what fits you the best. There is insane amount of great gloves out there. No, the most expensive ones are not always the best. So look around, test and find someone you are happy with. Cheers bud
Another well scripted and produced video, thank you. I have the same issues, not one pair of gloves covers all the ride, so generally 2 other pairs are brought on the trip.

Awesome video. I think gloves are very subjective to how they fit your hands. I will have to try the AS. They look great. My favorite is Held. In my mind and hands, simply the best. Best
My favourite racing gloves was Held, but I never quite found a good adv glove from them back in the days, so I switched. Not tried them for many years now.
Thanks for this insight. Being able to try on different pairs is a must. And I almost always buy them a half size bigger a specialy the winter versions. Currently I'm stick to the Virium 2.0 as my Favorite.

Agree 100% on the Adventure Spec gloves.

I don't want to hide my decades of experience. There are three gear items I always try on in a shop (or at home in case there is no shop): a) helmet b) boots c) gloves
I'm a huge Adventure Spec fan but I was so unhappy with their gloves. My fingers are simply too long and their models in L and XL doesn't fit on my hand. They are too short so I had to return them 😢
Also my HELD winter gloves disappoint me as I get cold fingertips. I'll try to visit the next motorcycle exhibition in Dortmund to try different brands and models. I'm well equipped for 3 seasons and I always travel with more than 1 set.

Yeah, I totally agree with you, these things you really need to try and feel in a store to see how well they fit. It is incredible how small differences can make or break something as important as gloves. So no matter how much I love the Adventure spec gloves, they will never fit you and your needs. I think this is really important to know for people just starting out. A pair of solid gloves can be expensive, and most people want to buy the corrects once the first time. I really hope you will have a great season as well my friend 🙌🏻 And I really hope to meet up with you one day ☕️
Good explanation Thomas. I have the Rukka Virum as well. They did their job in the rain last summer. I also have a couple of other Goretex gloves, can’t remember the brand. When I started to ride I ware cheaper gloves. As long as they fit my hands and give some protection to palma and knuckles. But over time also a good rain protection becomes an issue especially on longer trips when you have to rain rain. When Just doing day trips at home I avoid riding if it’s raining or I just let my gloves dry when I get home. But in longer trips It’s so nice to have dry gloves all the time.
I believe the word you where searching for when you tried to explain how well the gloves fitted your hand was, “They fit like the hand in i the gloves” 🤔

Hahaha.... yeah, that is what I wanted to say, but it just did not sound right when I run it trough my mind couple of times. It fits like a glove hahaha 😝 Yeah, i really can't stand wet gloves or soak gloves. And with wet and cold hands, everything get's a little bit less comfortable and then it takes away the joy.

Good to get your take on something that changes between riders. Next to grip (tires) gloves are a debated kit item. Interested in a future review of the heated gloves.
Yeah, almost as debated as tires and oil 🙈 But I think that stuff like this we are so passionate about, because we fail so many times to find the correct one that serves our needs. But it seams like we forget that everyone has different needs, and therefore the discussions are heated about these topics.

Like you, Thomas, I have and use a lot of different gloves. Depending on the bike, temperature and the weather. My latest pair was the cheapest: working gloves for the garden, goat leather, thin, good feel, not protection and a bit short. Rode them for most of the summer, like TET Wales (30 degrees) and ACT Romania (36 degrees). They are certainly not perfect, but hey for 5 euros ;-) Happy days, Günter/Nürnberg
I bet you have, it is really hard to find that does it all gloves. sometimes we compromise on safety for more comfort, I think we all do that from time to time. Great tip and something I might check out for myself as well. I always find myself in need of thin gloves so I can operate the camera without taking it off.

I ride only in Rukka gloves (gore + short city version). Don't need anything else.
Rukka makes amazing gear and their gloves range is really good. I have not tried the city ones, they never had them in store when I bought my rain gloves.

Hope some of it was useful for you Hestad 🙏🏻 I bet you could use a mini pump for a airmatress etc, to just blow air into it, or hang it on the side of the motorcycle luggage when it stops raining to dry in the wind. I have never tried a glove dryer myself. And you don't want it to dry to fast either. Some gloves can shrink quite a bit.
I use a couple of the cardboard tubes from the centre of toilet rolls - push those inside the gloves after your ride and they help air get inside to dry them out. Weigh nothing, pack flat, easily replaceable and no batteries to worry about!
@@markpewsey That does sound smart, I have found my glowes still wet the next day if I just "throw them away" - I guess just making sure they can ventilate out the moist and most of the problem is solved

Also, sleeping mat, r 3 or r 5 for cold? And sleeping bag, dons, minus 3 or minus 10 to be ok for the night.

Depends on where you are visiting in Norway, but June I would say that a minus 3 and R3 is good enough. Yeah, one for dry and one pair for rain should be enough. Cheers

Personally for me it is the hardest thing to find, a good glove that fits your hand and fingers
I can't tell you how many gloves I have been trough the last, yes... almost 20 years. Everything from Racing to working gloves. And when I find one that fit, you can bet they upgrade it and they are gone forever 😂
TS, What are your thoughts about the Atlas Throttle Lock, is it worth buying?
Absolutely worth buying. This is one thing I just can't live without on a bike that can't be fitted with cruise control. Highly recommended
Not sure about all the manufacturers, but i bet Adventure spec watches, and listens. Love smaller companies for this type of stuff.
Yeah, i actually got a message from them today, thanking me for the honest review and they will look into the feedback. I would love for them to fix this, then I’m scared that this is the closest thing i have a perfect glove (for dry riding)
I really like my Revit Sand 3's. In some cases I've ridden with MTB gloves as well on warm days, but they are not that padded...
I never owned a pair of Revit gloves myself, there was no shop that offered them before recently. But I will try some of them when I get a chance. I hear great words about them, but like the rest of the Revit lineup, it runs small!

When are you coming to ride in South Africa? No snow here at the moment. Unfortunately we cannot get most of the gloves you have there. No Revit, no Klim, no AS.

@@tshansenCan probably ship it. But courier fees and import duty might kill the perceived value. And then you also cannot test fit like in brick and mortar shop.

I love the Rukka gloves as well, the adventure spec ones however really disappointed me when I had them, the fit on the ifngers were ok but it just felt like the hand area was way too big and sloppily made, which I know is just a case of peoples hands being different. The stitching on them also was a major disappointment, they didn't even last a season before several fingers had seams give up and open up.
I have had my share of similar experience with other brands, everything seams to be perfect, but then the palm is either too tight or sloppy. Sorry to hear your gloves did not hold up. I have had mine since they was launched and used them a lot with no noticeable wear? You should reach out to the people at Adventure Spec and see if they can help you out. They have been really helpful for me all these years.

Hej Thomas. Ja Rukka virium 2,0 er meget god hanske den benytter jeg også med stor glæde. Har du prøvet Rukka airium sommer hanske. den er super fin med vældig god ventilation.Den eneste ulempe ved de 2 hansker er at fingertouch på hansken ret hurtigt bliver dårlig.Håber du må få en god mc sæson 2024 mvh Preben fra Danmark.
Heisann Preben. Jeg har ikke prøvd Airium, men jeg har sett på den tidligere. Jeg har så mange andre gode sommerhansker som jeg liker at jeg har ikke prøvd så mange andre. Mine sommerhansker har ikke touch screen funksjon, men de fungerer likevel på min iPhone 15. Så jeg lurer på om de har gjort noe oppdateringer på den touch screen? Takk for det og det samme til deg. 🙌🏻
Et tips til hansker som ikke har touchscreen funktion. klip fingeren af en sort latex hanske og træk den på fingeren på hansken så har du veldig fin toucscreen funktion.
