Mouse and Keyboard flying is insane, I can't even do it on the free SU-25 aircraft without the joystick. Some little facts: The beeping at the end of the video is from the RWR (Radar Warning Receiver) which is passively sensing ground SAM radar (the lower pitch tone) and probably a Russian aircraft (the higher pitched beep). The sound of the engine cutting at around 6:10 is not a glitch, it is a compressor stall that sounds even more scary in the cockpit (it sounds like banging and the whole cockpit would be shaking) where there is not enough air flowing into the engine to sustain engine operation
Yup, and the big circle in the center is the Viggen's air-to-ground radar, and around it is the RWR (lights that flash at different positions for direction of the threat, and the beep indicates the type of radar). Another cool fact is the Viggen uses an analog computer system that you have to type numbers into for different functions. Many of the systems and weapons for the Viggen are also calibrated using a mission plan that you create beforehand and then load into the comptuer via a cartridge. It's a really interesting system that you can use to carry out quick, precise attacks, but it does somewhat limit your flexibility.

You can use the AFK leaver to ease the landing. it's beside the gear handle to your down right next to the seat. it manages your throttle to 550 km/h (about 300knt) when the gear is up and about 350 km/h with gear down. you can engage the reverse thrust while still flying and it automatically reverses the thrust once the gear detects weight on wheels.
Also, if you set the aircraft to landing mode by turning the big knob by your left thigh it will automatically give you the right flap configuration etc, and the hud changes to a horizon line and one (i think) line 5 degrees below it. You can then simply line up the lower line with the start of the runway and aim your velocity vector right on it, then slowly pull up to the horizon line as you get lower. Lower the landing gear and pull the thrust reverse lever, which will automatically engage when the front wheel hits the ground. Then increase thrust to brake. Once you learn it, landing the Viggen is really comfortable and easy.
@@MupStarful The flaps on the viggen are directly controlled by the gear leaver, so i dont think the landing mode switch would do much there. The flaps only have two positions, up and down. :-) It will help with aligning on the runway using the HUD though. I do agree that it is one of the easier DCS beasts to fly, until you try and learn how the CK37 works. :D
My lord what timing I’ve been binge watching your apartment/cooking videos this morning while assembling some glorious Ikea furniture! Always a treat when you upload Robbaz!
Classic moment, Robbaz says; 'Fuck it! I know what I'm doing.' and less than 30 seconds later he's had to eject and is watching his plane explode on the runway below.
Hey look I remember this guy all the way back when he did the minecraft titanic with some kind of mod and he hit like an island before sinking it... truly a memory
I heard the opposite from many DCS pilots because the viggen was designed for highway runways and short asphalt in the baltic coast, with high wing tolerance and good stability with it’s canards and flaps.
The viggen is a traditionall stable design aircraft, the Gripen was the first unstable aircraft designed by SAAB. His problems were probably more releated to flying using mouse and keyboard. 😅
Dude, I had start pilot training to understand you can’t just push start on these sims😂 so proud of you to make it without any training and not die! Would love to fly this irl, but a piper archer is good enough👍🏽 if there’s a war with the US and Sweden involved, I pray to fly beside such a VIKING!!!
I am genuinely impressed you managed this 😂 I have a VR simulator and am ABSOLUTELY garbage at flying without crashing. It's pretty scary to watch yourself crash and burn over and over 😂

If you want a joystick and have some money to spare, you should get a Virpil Constellation Alpha. It has rudder controlls built in and LOTS of costumization. Would love to hear you review it, mate. Skål!
Tried helicopter and the A10, what about some fine Swedish Engineering?
Yes
Should try the Gripen if available, I think that's how you spell it

Don’t jinx it
He usually uploads in threes. You probably won't see him again for another 3 or 4 months after this.
He streams all the time
@@LN997-i8x streams arent equal to the videos, not everyone has four hours to sit and watch someone else play videogames.
Better yet he was spending it backpacking
So this is why Robbaz hasn't posted in 5 months, he's been busy becoming a certified jet fighter pilot.

If you fly the viggen the compressor stall sound is just part of the ambience

I kinda like the compressor stall. Makes it all the more satisfying when the engine recovers.
I love how he taxis like he is driving a car and stays to one side of the tarmac
I’ve seen what you’ve flown in KSP, so I wasn’t surprised you were able to land a more normal vehicle.
Genuinely what I was thinking about. He’s pulled off some real voodoo landings before with his flying trashcans.
dude can lay kenshi like it was nothing he plays hard games for fun his talent is next level stuff

Oh man, DCS! I love that game! It's super satisfying once you start to learn how to do things.
When Robbaz realizes Kerbal Space Program couldn't prepare him for the Swedish Air Force.
Robbaz, I watched your videos as a 9 year old boy.
I’m 18 now. Thanks for making my childhood a bit better :)
"I know what I'm doing." Famous last words.

At the end, your wings ripped because you pulled too hard at high speeds. The G forces induced on your plane ripped the wings off.
You're on DCS ? So cool !!! :-), happy to see you on this masterpiece, the viggen is so awesome
