- I've found a new hack to creating a layered and storied home, and that hack is thrifting. Filling your home with thrifted finds, antiques, Facebook Market wins and flea market scores is going to add a curated element to your space and at a fraction of buying new. I'm a newbie to the life and from one newbie to another I wanted to give you some tips. You're going to buy some things you later don't like but it's all part of the fun!

Blessings Celia! Welcome to my world! My list of great thrift finds is so long, thrifting is my love. 85% of my home furnishings and decor are second hand. One of my treasures are a two paintings, signed by the artist Leroy Campbell. The other day I purchased from the Salvation Army an end of the bed ottoman made of leather and solid wood. My tip is get what you love even if you think it's over priced, it will be gone when you go back later. Make as mental list of what you're looking for and believe me you will find it. A few years back I knew I wanted copper in my future kitchen. I scored a copper backsplash piece and a copper planter that I now use in my kitchen sink to wash my dishes. These items were purchased years apart and ate perfect for my kitchen. The list goes on and on, one man's trash is now my treasure lol. Thanks for sharing.♥️

Great tips🙌🏾Thrifting can be intimidating. My wish list is to go to an estate sale for 2023. My tip would be have measurements on your phone. Especially if you are interested in furniture pieces. I always carry my measuring tape when I head out thrifting!

I love thrifting! I've been an avid thrifter for years. I have been able to pick up lots of gems. I tell my friends to have a plan budget and start with a category so that you don't feel overwhelmed.
This is literally the pep talk I needed and will be playing this again before venturing out. I want objects with character in my home, and I've found some local places to check out. I'll remember first and foremost to keep an open mind. Thanks for the tips.

My tip is to befriend the workers at your second hand shops. They often will tell you when things are getting marked down and when new items are coming in. I got my dining room chairs first set price was $335 for 4, the saleslady told me to come back for markdown day and I got all four for $80, Relationships matter. 😃
My daughter asked me how I managed to find such great thrifted pieces as she never finds anything. I'm literally in the thrift shop four times a week and she pops in once a month or so!!!
EXACTLY SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME WITH A LAMP!! I loved it but didn't buy it. Couldn't stop thinking about it so went back and it was gone. Still kicking myself !!!💙💙💙🏴🏴🏴
I have been thrifting for years and have found some amazing stuff. I'd say that 95% of the stuff I have is thrifted. I found three vintage lamps at Goodwill three years ago for $8 ea., only to find them selling online for$1500 for a pair. But it's not about the worth/value of something. It's about what speaks to me. So if you see something and you are not sure, and it stays on your mind, buy it.

Milo Baughman made beautiful furniture in the 40's. I love thrifting, I have collected paintings, and statues from thrift stores. I especially love estate sales too. My favorite art i found at a thrift store is a lithograph of a sail boat. Another water painting I purchased at an estate sale is a water coloring of stick figured people.
