How do you know if the drive belt is bad? I have a slipping walking belt, lube it and adjust the walking belt tension but didn't help. Could it be the drive belt, it looks good though and tension on it seems OK.
The drive belt on the treadmill is similar to the belt on your car. As it gets older it becomes more prone to cracking and breaking. Prior to that point the ribs on the belt may begin to wear down, usually if the belt is out of alignment. If there is a lot of black rubber dust in the are under the drive belt it could mean that the belt is breaking down or wearing out because of age or it may not be adjusted properly. If the belt is wearing out it may not be able to engage the flywheel and pully enough to prevent the belt from slipping.
@@FitnessEquipmentHelp Yes there was black power but the belt still looks really good. Turns out I've used too much lube on the walking belt and somehow migrated between the motor belt and drive pulley. Clean it all up, removed the silicone oil, all good now. Thanks for the response.
I haven't heard a figure from the manufacturer, but the walking bets typically last roughly 500 hours of use. drive belts will probably last longer but should be checked regularly for tension (if applicable) and that it is centered. Signs of wear include excessive belt shedding and belt slipping.

How many miles should I expect a drive belt to last before needing replacement? Mine is starting to make noise.
