OCM...I owned and operated a Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram store for 33 years and am now retired. As such, I have bought a number of cars since retirement...including a good number of Vipers and various Hellcats along with the normal Minivans, etc. I am sorry to admit that I have run into stores that, even knowing I was a retired dealer, tried to pull stunts along the line of what you were outlining but thankfully not to that extreme. In most cases we were able to work around those instances and to be fair. some dealerships were great just as you have found in your own experiences buying cars. It does take some of the fun out of what should be a wonderful experience in buying a new car. We did not operate that way due to our outlook on business plus being in a small town where we would run into our customers at church, at the grocery store, at community events...and didn't want to have to live with a less than stellar reputation. I have been amazed at how certain big stores operate and that may be due to the pressures of competition but on balance, most professional car people and dealerships are trying to do it right and they do need to turn a profit to afford these big facilities and to service you after the sale through service, parts, body shop, etc. The point being, just be calm and keep your wits about you and look at the numbers carefully and you will generally make the right decision and wind up with a car you love.
I was also in the market for a 2.0 Red 2023 Supra and test drove one just 7 miles from my home here in Tampa. Msrp was $45k, but they were also asking me for 1,100+ a month for 84 months! They were telling me my trade-in was putting me in the negative. I bought my 2012 Jaguar XK coupe a few months prior with 52k miles from a retail Toyota dealership. I felt that I bought low at 26k, I owe 24k now, and the chances of finding my low mile well kept Jaguar in the twenties nationwide is an act of god. Their estimates for my trade show in the mid teens. They had market adjustments pricing for the Supra at $7 k calling it a protection package, their $1,195 dealer fee, and because of the low trade value my higher taxable amount showed with the higher price. I really like the Supra, but with no dynamic / adaptive cruise control on the 2.0 it was an additional deal breaker.
Your car buying experience is the reason why I drive a 15 year old car. I paid $8100 for service and maintenance in the last 3 months just to avoid walking into a car dealership. I hate it.
It may seem like a stretch, but you can contact the manufacturers if your experience with a dealer is bad enough; it happened to a Toyota dealer near me enough times that the GM and sales staff got replaced. Individually, our complaints go nowhere, but they do add up, and you're (eventually) saving someone else the stress of a bad car deal. Thanks for the video, OC.
When I was in my late '20s, I had a much worse experience at a car dealership and that experience taught me that if I can't trust the people that are presenting this deal that sounds great but really it wasn't when I saw the deal on paper then I can't trust a deal. Throughout life I've taken that lesson that if I don't trust the people I'm working with then I can't trust the deal. Then years later I had an amazing experience at a car dealership that has a great reputation where everything that we discussed was on the paper and everything we discussed happened as discussed.
Before I purchase a vehicle, I shop banks and credit unions for finance rates. Then I go looking, I will talk to various salespersons. It is very easy to determine the BS'ers and eliminate them from the future... When I find a vehicle I want, I tell the salesperson to give me the bottom line price. I told one sales person that I would walk if the sales mngr was contacted a second time. As he got up, the second time, I got up and left. There are other dealers that will understand.... Then I ask about dealer or manufacturer financing. At that point, I choose where to finance and make the purchase.
"Used Cars"... great movie reference, its why we distrust car salesman 😄. Serious note, these videos are so incredibly helpful. As you said, even a seasoned buyer can get worn down at the dealership!
I can so emotionally relate to this video. Just 2 days ago 11/25/2022 I went to Huntington beach dodge to pick up my special order WB Scat pack. Waited 4 months for it. So got there, test drive the Scat and loved it. So I said let me get the total out the door and I'm going to finance through orange county credit union. He said we cant do that, we only finance in house, we dont do credit unions. I wanted to do the credit union cause they would offer 5.59 % for 84 months. I pay my vehicle off in 2 years so not worried about intrest so much. Just like the lower payment if you ever have a bad month. I said ok let's do the credit No Dealer Mark Up. So finance guy came back and said ok we got you for 8.9 % at 1351 a monthly. Car was 63850 MSRP. I said what's my credit score knowing it before hand, he said 740..... I laughed and said please. He said intrest rate have gone up it's out of my hands. I said that why I wanted to go with my credit union. He said hold on I will get a better rate. Waited 1 hr. Got up with my wife and son and told the fiance guy sorry but I'm not interested anymore. He said ooooohhhhh I was just going to show you I got 5.99% from your credit union at 1088.86 a month. My wife said can get the monthly payment to950 and we got a deal 0 downpayment. I know it could be done and they were mad cause I didn't want to put one down. So the fiance manager Asad manzhar pulled the paper from The sales associate chris and and raised his voice at my wife and said No,No,No your wasting my time and you guys can leave just get out of here. We where in complete shock!!!!! He was so disrespectful!!!! In front to my family while other sales associate and customers were watching. I cant believe they would really lose a sale for ego. I called and left a message to the store manager Mike Harrington and he has not got back to me. I really wanted this vehicle but, to be disrespected like that was just ASTONISHING!!!!! Thanks for your video and any suggestions that I can do on my behalf would be great!!!
I checked pricing on 2.0L Supra here in Canada, out of curiosity. A 2023 model in Alberta, Canada goes for CAD$57,000 or US$42,400. 255 HP Turbocharged Inline-4 Cylinder with 8-Speed Automatic Transmission with Paddle Shifters Launch Control, Rear Wheel Drive, and 18” Alloy Wheels and Brembo Brakes Dual Exhaust with Brushed Stainless Steel Exhaust Tips Full LED Headlights with Adaptive Lighting + Adaptive Steering Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Backup Camera, and more 8-way Power Adjustable Alcantara Front Seats 8.8” Touch Screen and Digital Gauge Cluster
I can't believe how bad these salespeople are. I wonder why the other customer backed out of the deal lol. I'm sure they told him he could have it at MSRP, but once it got delivered they threw on the markups and scared him away. I'm glad to see people are backing out of deals because of markups. people need to stop paying them!
I bought a 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing for MSRP and no markups or add ons were even talked about. I picked what options I wanted and the car was delivered 8 months later. In this economy getting such a hot car at MSRP was a great deal. Kia screwed me with a $7k mark up on a Telluride. I can't wait for the economy to bite them all back.
I never worry about the payment or ask them for the math. I just want the OTD price with a breakdown of vehicle price, tax, and any extra fees. If we can't agree on that, then I'm out. If we do agree then we talk about their finance options. But before I walk in a dealer, I already know around what APR I expect and round about how much I'm willing to finance. You never tell them what you make or how much you want your payment before you have agreed on the OTD price. I also say I'm not trading anything in.
Its has taken me many cars and many learning experiences to walk away. Being a car guy it is sometimes tough but it needs to happen in order to protect yourself and your future. There is always another car and salesman like that are the worst. As a salesman (not car salesman) i am trained to overcome objections, hit on pain points and divert conversations when they focus on price. The difference between me and “them” is i have a conscience. I have learned to sell through helping customers instead of swift tactics. I pull those tactics out when it is something that really does help the customer but they have trouble seeing it. At no point do i disrespect them and I believe that is why i have been fortunate to retain customers for many years. I hope you can find a ride for her by Christmas as that would be a pretty awesome ride. Regardless i will wish you the best of luck and have a great holiday season with your family!
I bought my first car a 1967 mustang 289 v8 in 1995 for $500 when I was 15 from working all summer. From the age of 15 to 18 I spent all my money on the engine, brakes and tires. I started stock with 287 HP and finished with 400 HP. Ever since that day I've purchased all of my cars.
I wonder how many car sales persons would act this way, if they knew that they were being recorded? I love those sales tactics that they are trained to perform. When I go to buy my TRX next year, I am thinking of employing a car buying service. Thank you for this video.
As a car salesman myself, I’m sorry you had to deal with that man. That sounds awful. I apologize on behalf of all the salespeople out there who are disgusted by slimy sales tactics and false promises. Like you said, as long as you’re honest and respectful of the customer and their time, you’d be surprised what can happen. Sounds like you were completely reasonable and this dude was just a mouthpiece for his greedy GSM
My last few purchases, 2 Jeep GC's and a Challenger over the past 6 years were actually the best experiences I ever had when purchasing a vehicle, and all three from the same Dodge dealership... I spent more time test driving than having to sit around while salesmen/management spoke behind closed doors. My Challenger this past summer... I was in and out, driving it home in about 20 minutes (not counting the test drive). I've had bad experiences with both GM and Ford, taking up my entire day with similar tactics you describe here.
I had this conversation with my friend where his colleague ordered a Type-R that was okay with MSRP + $10k markup (I still don't like this thought). The moment the car arrived at the dealership, they decided to ask for $5k more on markup, which made his colleague walk away. The endgame is always the grand fight until the deal is closed and complete.
The Type R has had markup since the first year it was introduced, in demand cars or limited production cars. There is another person on youtube the markup was 30k for that car, insane. He walked away but im sure someone else bought it the same day.
Your a better man than me. I would of walked away when it went from 59 to 61 and then tried to sneak the warranty in there. I walk away from most car salesmen, since I was an honest car salesman in my younger years.
Usually people that get THAT defensive realize that the jig is up .. the cat is OUT the bag lol everything he thought he was being accused of was everything he actually was doing! smh it’s unfortunate that there’s people and establishments that try to take advantage of customers hard earned money and get offended when they don’t get there way 🤔 but I’m glad there’s still people like you that are genuine people.. hope you find the right deal for your daughter OC and thank you for sharing this experience foreal!🙏🏽
Easiest new car buy I ever had was through a dealerships online sale person. In and out in about an hour. Got there and signed the paperwork and left. No scams, surprises, shady business. Best experience ever.
buying your daughter a car is not spoiled and ruining a future, its all about what you teach your kids. id be willing to bet your kid or kids got a good head on their shoulders. good parents make their kids life easier so they can grow without having to go through all the troubles we did, and learn from our mistakes.
I visited a Dodge dealer in Norman, Oklahoma to but a new 2022 Charger. They had it advertised several thousand below MSRP but when the laid the paperwork in front of me there was no discount. So, the dealerships are still trying to take advantage of people. I declined the “deal” and went home. I’ll keep driving my Challenger. Thanks for your video!
Dont forget about the market adjustment price! You might see msrp pricing listed online, but depending on the dealer, they will have that in there as well. If you don't feel like going toe to toe with them, try using a company discount, or car buying discount program through insurance or a membership (ie Sams/Costco) if either offers it.
OC, I had a similar experience with a Toyota dealership in Orlando a little over a year ago before car prices started going haywire in Florida. The short story, I was helping my son get his first car and the salesperson was so arrogant, he became more arrogant when I called him out on his BS. The sales person added things that were not on the addendum and tried to sell it to me as if I had no choice but to accept it. I worked in the car business and like you I have bought about 12 cars in my lifetime. Normally I walk away but this salesperson was such an arrogant prick I had to give this sales person a piece of my mind while still being respectful to the people around me. There was a few customers who witnessed it and one couple walked out when I did and spoke with me in the parking lot. They too thanked me as my salesperson was also working with them and they felt awkward dealing him. That night I wrote a scathing review on Google and the dealership's website. I normally don't write bad reviews because nobody is perfect but in this case I had to. Everyone from the dealership called me and I was completely honest with them, I would only by a Toyota from them if Hell froze over. In the end, it worked out, the next day while at a diiferent brand car dealership I let the sales manager listen to my final conversation with the Toyota GM ( doubt if he was really the GM, couldnt find his name on the dealership website). Even the sales manager was appalled by the justifications attempted to be fed to me by the Toyota dealership. The sales manager spoke with the owner of the dealership I was at who just so happen to be their that day. They showed me the price of the car after tax, title and fees which we were very happy with the price and then they showed us with zeroes next to it 3 years of free oil changes instead of the normal one year. The different brand dealer went way out of their way to be completely transparent and they made my sons first car-buying experience a great one! Toyotas are really good cars but when you want to buy one shop not only for the car but shop the dealership.
Omg thank you for this video I don’t regret subscribing to you when I did you don’t only bring content but also knowledge I’m 22 and my wife 21 we went to buy a car for her for school and let me tell you we bought a car that cost 21k came out to 35k and till this day we couldn’t understand but thanks you now we know how to deal with those shady people who only cares for their pockets but not customer relationships and I hope no one walks in that dealerships because they are just shady. Again great video and thank you
Never disclose any financial info about yourself prior to coming to terms on a deal. I never fill out a credit app until we have agreed to the numbers. I can understand the drivers license release but only if I am test driving the car. When the deal is done, I disclose my SS# (for FICO) and other relevant info (usually w/the Finance Manager).
I really don’t understand how they sell any vehicles in this country if by default customers are treated like idiots and disrespected if they prove not to be one. It amazes me every time.
I used to buy a new car every other year. I finally decided to rip them off by maintaining and taking car of my car for 16 years. That’s a lot of sales they didn’t rip me off on.
Wow! Sorry to hear about this experience, but unfortunately not surprised. I worked in big ticket sales for years. One of the things you quickly learn is customers generally purchase from people they like....and obviously this sales guy did everything to make that impossible. Good for you in walking out - they didn't deserve your business.
To all car salespeople: Treat your customers like you would want to be treated and don't lie to them. You've really got to do your homework, know what your trade-in is worth, what your payments should be at a given percentage and, in general, know more than the salesperson does before you walk in the dealership. It's sad that this slime is working for them or they wouldn't do it.
I have a good Toyota dealer here in Cleveland if you're interested. I know it's very far away but probably still worth it. Dad bought his first Camry there in '97. Good family run place.
Was at a dealer two months ago and had a dealer tell me that they don’t do markups. At the same time they had a TRX in the showroom with a $25k market adjustment. Needless to say I didn’t buy a truck that day.
Man unbelievable! Very horrible experience to go through. You definitely sensed the red flags in the beginning. I love toyota vehicles but these dealships can ruin a joyful buying experience. Buying a new car should be an exciting and fun experience. I want to buy a new Toyota Tundra but after hearing this I will definitely skip going to Ontario. I use to go their for service a long time ago but with all these dealers marking up and trying to weasel in extra services I was fed up. It cause me to start trying my own maintenance just to avoid them. Maybe check out Longo Toyota in El Monte. They seem to have good reviews. I would love to see a toyota supra on the channel! They are very nice cars. Good luck on the vehicle search and hope you can find a deal on a supra! Toyota gonna keep making supras so definitely no need to rush! They are not rare cars right now. Thanks for sharing this! I'm definitely going to avoid that dealer.
We also had the experience of buying a new Civic to build my daughter's credit. The salesperson couldn't accept my offer until we had torn up the credit application and walked out. Then he came running after us yelling "We'll take it!". illegitimi non carborundum!!!
Thank you for the information on how they are trying to be sly. I am currently looking at cars for my daughter and this is stuff I will be looking for as I continue to look for something for her.
Yes Sir it’s down right disrespectful at certain dealerships. I was talking this week to a salesman at a dealership I bought a car from 6 months ago. When I bought the first car I let them know I needed a second in a different color. Called me this week with news of a allocation change. This color is number 3 on my list. Wanted me to put 5K down. Turns out to be the mark up. Basically said the same thing. Someone is going to buy it. Sad thing is I sat aside 10K for the down payment at MSRP. I walked away and let them know there is zero costumer loyalty. This wrestling match was over a Sonata Hybrid Limited. Not sending a child to collage with a high car payment. I’ve bout 10 cars in the last 25 years. I told them good luck.
So I've recently retired and looking for a King Ranch F250. I have taken you advise and search everywhere for a dealer that would sell at MSRP.; I have failed miserably. There is a 10K markup at every dealer I contact. I am in Michigan, my search ended in Texas Friday night. I will continue to look but this is ridiculous. Your words are always appreciated.
Crazy to hear this about Crown Toyota. I’ve purchased a few new cars from them and I’ve always had a good, straightforward experience with them. What a shame to hear this May no longer be the case
i go in dealers ready to fight literally i go in there with an attitude and at least 7k down and i swear they are the ones on eggshells. im not sayin i get amazing deals but i dont think i ever been ripped off either.
Years back, my girlfriend bought a car online and it actually was a decent deal. We go to look at the car and she said, yes, I’ll take it. We go into the finance managers office and he got her approved for the manufacturers loan special. Now it goes from 0 to 100 in 3 seconds. He adds in costs for floor mats and wheel locks. She says, no I don’t want that. Then he had factored in the cost of an extended warrantee which was over 2k, and that was a lot of money back when she was getting this car. She said no. I don’t want it. Then he says, yes you have to take it. She says no I don’t want it. He comes up with a slightly lower price that excluded some mechanical parts coverage. It was 1.5K. She says no, and he says you are taking the warrantee. I said, she doesn’t want it. Now the guy begins to shake and says there is no way you are leaving without the warrantee. I was in complete shock and awe! I stood up and said to my girl, let’s go. My girlfriend was closest to the door. The finance guy jumps up and blocked the door. I pulled her aside and I screamed, get the F* out of my way or I’m going to drive your head through the door! Boxing was my lifelong hobby and I could have destroyed this feeble idiot. He moves away, I open the door and we went out. The salesman was all smiles and asked if we were taking home the car now. I told him the story and said, sell the car to someone else. And we walked out. The next day she gets a call from the dealer and he said he was the general manager, and was ashamed at what happened. He said please come back and let us make it right. We did and after 10 minutes of him doing a non-stop apology, he pulled out a sheet and showed her their cost of the warrantee. It was $500.00. He said, if you would like the extended warrantee, we will give it to you at our exact cost. She took it, and in the end, the car had issues, but that warrantee covered them all until she got rid of the car. And, the finance manager, he was fired.
When I buy new cars I always pay the total price with a normal check...not a cashier check. I state the price I'm willing to pay and if they try to raise it I walk off the property. Twice I have had them call me in less than 5 minutes and agree to my price. Each time I told them I'm now only willing to pay $100 less for wasting my time. It worked both times.
Never ever set foot on a dealers lot until u have the deal done in writing via e mail. They will try and text, dont text. They will compell u to come in. Dont do it. Make sure u get a line by line break down of everything. Not just a price. Or payment. Be ready to go to another dealer. Be ready to walk even after the paper work is in process of being signed in finance. Check and recheck every line. Car dealers are some of the lowest of low. And if they insult u, get up and walk.
Ngl, I paid $3k over MSRP for my Charger Scat Pack Widebody. But the dealership was up front about it over the phone, before I even left my house. I respected that and took the deal. Now the car’s scheduled for production and I couldn’t be happier, especially after having a bad experience with another dealership.
@@QuinLIVE I had the chance to say no and I made the decision to buy the car (no one’s fault but my own). They didn’t have me drive down 45 minutes to the dealership, put in the order, and then slap on $3k at the end. So, yes, I’d say being honest and up front is being respectful to their customers, even if they’re overpricing their vehicles. Also, that’s not nearly as bad of a markup as other dealerships for that trim level.
I was about to buy a truck from them this thanksgiving weekend They used the same crappy tactics and are literally useless human beings. Lying and misrepresentation, yet they get mad when we call them out
I must admit I have had about 75% of the salesman be just like that and we just walked way before doing any credit check. 25% are great however. Just trying to find those and weed out the bad ones
I have an amortization calculator pulled up on my phone before I talk interest rates and payments. They drop a lot of the games when I can pull my own numbers. I usually make out alright except on one deal, the dealer added the "dealer fee" at $400 after we negotiated a price to be inclusive of all profit and overhead. I failed to catch that before signing.
Bruh Just call them and tell them you want the car OTD or you walk out when you get there Idk why people still go through all this 🤦🏽♂️ Internet shopping is the way to go now
Bruh, the car wasn’t listed on their website and was technically an order allocated to a customer that just backed out. Doing what you’re saying to do would have not resulted in any conversation at all. I hope people realize that these more rare cars require a little more effort to find and buy than just calling from the internet and making bold demands.
@@ocmotivator meant no disrespect My first car was an sxt and this was the experience I had which boiled me My WB sCat and my super stock have been bought aggressively due to the markups they wanted and to be fair Someone is most likely going to pay that on that Supra . 3/5 k markup on fully optioned out supras isn’t too bad . My brother at a dealer says they’re going for 10k over atm
@@ocmotivator you say that, but it depends on the dealer. I purchased a Silverado ZR2 a few months ago. Its not an easy truck to get and they are mid 70k. Ordered one after waiting 7-8 months I decided to just find one and started calling. I got told anywhere from 5k to 15k MA. Also had a few stealerships tell me several add on were mandatory. Paint protection, ect. Ended up finding one in transit for a little under MSRP and at the price it was at time of order not the new price that's 2k+ more. I told the salesman I'd take it. He held it on my word, no money down, no credit card number. He said don't worry about it, not like it won't sell if I back out when it gets there. Called me the min it showed up on his day off no less, test drove it and made the deal. Took less then an hour total from when I walked in till I walked out owning the truck. That included the test drive. Zero extra fees and zero drama. Was in the back office about 15 mins signing papers. Most of that was joking about people making horrible purchase decisions about vehicles and financing. People have this weird outlook now like the dealer is doing you a favor selling you a vehicle. Stop paying BS fees. Stop the conversation cold when they try to pull crap. Shop OTD price Stop shopping payments.
I’d never buy a brand new vehicle again just because of all the markups and dealing w sales people like you mentioned here 😬But then again I only have $1300 in my bank account atm lol 😊 my 2007 jeep grand cherokee laredo which I bought used back in 2009 w only 19k miles just recently passed 212k miles. She still runs strong and probably will run her till the wheels falls off. I’d love to get the 3.0 2023 model Supra and yes they will be worth money someday but for now I’ll just watch UA-cam videos of it. Anyhow new sub and can’t wait to see your daughters new Supra! 🫡
I know,I know. But the kids use the transparency mode with the AirPods .. they also act like a hearing aid. They can hear your conversation when you're whispering 20-30 feet away from them. They can leave the phone on the table and walk out and listen to your conversation. No excuse for ignorance they should take them out just because.. that's what old people want And we have the money...
Bought my Land Rover discovery D4 here in the UK about five years ago. Can I get some discount on the price ? sorry sir that's the price as we can sell as many as we can get so I agreed to pay exactly the price on the screen. I was happy it was a good price for the car, I had done my research before so I knew what they were selling for. Only add on was paint protection. Deal done within half an hour, all happy. Buying cars over there seems a nightmare.
They lasted far longer than I would have, where the dealer and the salesperson are weasels. And the walk backs that were explained by other sites as just a tactic, amongst others. And my key lessons came earlier, and not at the stated price point.
As someone who's in sales people like this make my skin crawl, weird to be a Salesman and standoffish at the same time. Also great clips from some classics. Check out the Boat Salesman scene from Gone Fishin. Hilarious.
Thank you! I know mentally that my interest rate is higher but seeing somebody admit that does "feel" better. I do have a terrible rate on the stick shift Challie I got. I dont want to imagine what the 1320 will be...whenever that thing arrives (if). Funny though, I was looking at the Supra for mom too! (family is important to a car guy). That or the GR86 in that...Orange package (I keep calling it Hemi Orange LOL...brain is stuck in Hemi gears). The Toyota dealer we have is pretty unscrupulous too, Honda is worse. Probably going to end up with a V6 Dodge, but get it with the red interior, and do an interior swap on the 6sp, because were paying for that anyway...might as well get the interior and do a cool video on the swap. (I feel weird thinking like this sometimes lol)
to think I almost became a car salesman 7 years ago, I would never have sold like that. When I worked for sales at Time Warner Cable they always had me take classes and watch videos on how to sell better and what to say etc. I threw all that out the window and sold MY way and guess what...? I was the top seller for 5 years in my area! People would always come into the cable store and ask for me or wait specifically for me to help them out. not only did I sell them and put everything out there they needed to know but they when they needed explaining of a bill or had a issue I was there. I did have one instance where I did do something I regret and when someone was yelling at me as to why their cable service was turned off due to non payment they got mad at me for doing. So as they were leaving yelling at me in front of 10 people in line I yelled back if you would have paid you bill your service would have been on lol. Well ya that wasnt the professional thing to do, but hey I was 24. Anyways, glad you walked away from that guy. I have a hookup here at I10Dodge in Indio for cars now if you ever need to get MSRP on something. Let me know, thanks!
How I buy cars… 1) Go to dealership for test drive and obtain vin. 2) Call my wholesaler give him the details. 3) He gets car and I get it from him. 4) Smile all day for not having to deal with the dealership personnel.
I don't blame dealerships. That's why the world calls us dumb consumers. Why wouldn't the dealership charge bogus fees, add-ons if people are foolish enough to pay for bogus fees and add-ons. No one can use or abuse you if you don't allow them. Dealerships hate me because I never fall for the scams bogus fees and add-ons. It's my way or the highway. Secondly smart consumers no better than to run their credit at any dealership. Smart consumers always get a pre-approval.
I just got a lease price today on a cheap 2 door jeep wrangler they wanted 650$...ever since COVID dealer's have been a holes...I hope in 5 years salesmen are gone for good
OMG, you lasted way longer than I would have. At 21:50 you basically summed up for me the ONLY way I would have purchased that (ANY) vehicle. Great story, but dang...
That's why I deal with my wescom credit union when dealing buying a car I tell them to give me the bill of sale and take that shit back to my bank cut me a check and be done with it but a lot of dealers don't allow you to get a bill of sale they want you to go through their financing forget that
How is it that even main dealers can turn an exciting event into a trial. Picked up a new £43000 VW two weeks ago having completed all the paperwork in advance ( three hour journey) and, on arrival, the reg. details were wrong. Took two hours to rectify and then, on driving home, the wipers were useless and am still waiting for the dealer to offer rectification. To add insult, on lifting the bonnet, I found the engine cover missing. Even at Mercedes it took us six hours to pick up a three month old demo, I think we spent longer at the dealership that day than the salesmen did. I think this all boils down to a lack of courtesy and poor dealer training/employing the wrong people.
Payment guy I would tell him what kind of crook he is and I would talk to his boss. I get a 1 percent under invoice from my former Railroad job I find out what invoice is and I make an offer under that and no documentation fee around the Midwest where I'm from there not putting on extras on the cars
One of Your Best video's, definitely top 5, Thank You for Sharing. This is why Toyota will not be getting my money. Toyota Dealerships here in Southern California have been marking up Cars, and Ripping people off this whole Pandemic, enough is enough. Slime Bucket🤣🤣🤣
IMHO, I would never put my child who is an unexperienced driver in a car like a Supra, let them get a few years experience of driving before subjecting them to a car that can easily get away from them and put their life in jeopardy.
Maxcare...means you come in a month or two later to have 2 ex- landscapers wash the car but holding the car all day so you feel like they actually applied some miracle protectant to the car......
Even if you get the numbers you want make sure to READ EVERYTHING on the final.contract. I've had them " make a mistake " in their favor and had to have them rewrite the paperwork. Slime buckets
It's really cool you're teaching your daughter how to make successful youtube content. I am not really interested in Supras, but when she graduates to a cat I'd love to watch her stuff :)
What store?
Years back they didn’t play these games.
I wish I could recommend this video to everyone this video needs to be trending because I’ve learned so much and I know someone out there needs this
I love when they go “ok let me go talk to my manager and see what I can do” and you know for a fact that nothing is happening in the back 😂
That's code for I have to take a long bathroom break.
That line is classic BS 😂
The limp fish hand shake part got me weak crying laughing! I am now a new subscriber. I need to hear more of your videos when you post them!

To be honest man he did you a favor. You can’t afford the car at the end of the day, a down payment shows you’re serious and can massage some egos
@Sargent Doodle your correct. He did do him a favor. Saved him a headache of dealing with that dealership.
I checked pricing on 2.0L Supra here in Canada, out of curiosity. A 2023 model in Alberta, Canada goes for CAD$57,000 or US$42,400. 255 HP Turbocharged Inline-4 Cylinder with 8-Speed Automatic Transmission with Paddle Shifters

Full LED Headlights with Adaptive Lighting + Adaptive Steering

They can't screw you unless you willingly allow it
@@nerychristian Its still a screwing. No matter what you say. MSRP means manufacturers suggested retail price. To go above that is a screwing.
Thank you, brother. I want to purchase a car in the near future but I don't look forward to dealing with these car dealers.
Most act this way
As a car salesman myself, I’m sorry you had to deal with that man.
Every time they go for a walk, you take one too. Then they have to keep finding you on the lot. That nonsense soon ends. It's fun, try it.
Usually people that get THAT defensive realize that the jig is up .. the cat is OUT the bag lol everything he thought he was being accused of was everything he actually was doing! smh it’s unfortunate that there’s people and establishments that try to take advantage of customers hard earned money and get offended when they don’t get there way 🤔 but I’m glad there’s still people like you that are genuine people.. hope you find the right deal for your daughter OC and thank you for sharing this experience foreal!🙏🏽

buying your daughter a car is not spoiled and ruining a future, its all about what you teach your kids. id be willing to bet your kid or kids got a good head on their shoulders. good parents make their kids life easier so they can grow without having to go through all the troubles we did, and learn from our mistakes.

$800/month for a KID'S car? You are insane sir...You NEED to listen to "The Car Pro Show" on the AM radio..Saturdays at 9am.
He got emotionally hijacked and imploded himself. Good for you for not falling into his trap. "There's a million cars and a thousand buyers."

Good video I grew up in a bad neighborhood and have no problem walking away from these people.
I'm gonna be honest with you. I think I'm gonna buy my next car completely online to avoid that.
Judge a man by his handshake? Now that's weird to me. I can't begin to imagine how many good deals I would've lost by your logic.
This is crazy! I’m so happy you walked away from that deal. I got upset listening to this. Good video Brad!

One of the channels have warned us about that additional sticker the dealer's put on there besides the MSRP sticker
Your words are always appreciated.

i go in dealers ready to fight literally i go in there with an attitude and at least 7k down and i swear they are the ones on eggshells. im not sayin i get amazing deals but i dont think i ever been ripped off either.
You respected getting charged a markup just because they told you ahead of time? Yeah we’re going backwards as consumers lol
@@QuinLIVE I had the chance to say no and I made the decision to buy the car (no one’s fault but my own).

This is why many of the manufacturers are trying hard to get into the direct market.
This makes me not wanna buy a car at a dealership
You just gotta go in with a “fuck you” attitude and stick to your guns. Don’t be afraid to say no unless you really, really want the car.

Sadly he wasn’t a kid. He was at least in his late 40s early 50’s. He should know better.
And the walk
backs that were explained by other sites as just a tactic, amongst others. And my key lessons came earlier,
and not at the stated price point.
As someone who's in sales people like this make my skin crawl, weird to be a Salesman and standoffish at the same time.
Also great clips from some classics. Check out the Boat Salesman scene from Gone Fishin. Hilarious.
They do it because some people are bad with confrontation. Some people freeze up and let whatever happen at that point.
Yes pay attention to the paperwork!
I learn so much from oc thanks .

How I buy cars…
1) Go to dealership for test drive and obtain vin.
Crown did this to me and I walked too. Longo does do MSRP.
I just got a lease price today on a cheap 2 door jeep wrangler they wanted 650$...ever since COVID dealer's have been a holes...I hope in 5 years salesmen are gone for good
Buy Rate vs Contract Rate and never give a salesperson you drivers license. Out the door price not payments
OMG, you lasted way longer than I would have. At 21:50 you basically summed up for me the ONLY way I would have purchased that (ANY) vehicle. Great story, but dang...
Thanks OCM. Always good info. Hopefully this helps someone else as well.

I would’ve left soon as he said a different price from what was on the sticker smh these type of salesmen make me sick

Unreal thumbnails, ,love it.
Maxcare...means you come in a month or two later to have 2 ex- landscapers wash the car but holding the car all day so you feel like they actually applied some miracle protectant to the car......
Even if you get the numbers you want make sure to READ EVERYTHING on the final.contract. I've had them
" make a mistake " in their favor and had to have them rewrite the paperwork. Slime buckets
Jim Norton Toyota, Tulsa pulled all the same crap on me.
I think it's just how Toyota does bad business 😕
Damn straight. Shake hands like you mean it!

It's really cool you're teaching your daughter how to make successful youtube content. I am not really interested in Supras, but when she graduates to a cat I'd love to watch her stuff :)
