That’s exactly the piece of information I wanted to find out was possible when I came to this video ! I started life on a trackpad so I’m useless with a mouse but a trackpad just doesn’t have the accuracy for drawing tasks, in my hands anyway. Thanks for the heads up.
game changer is to buy a korg nano kontrol instead of clicks on ipad with the mouse on drawing with the pencil 😂 how dumb. The point of ipad is to touch, or to use the pencil as you said, but all in all it is not ideal yet. That’s why pros dont do so! You will rarely find a composer who uses pencil and side car on logic. The reason is clean: you have to use now mouse, pencil, keyboard, and cs. And the pencil will be used just for some tasks, while keeping your hand away from key commands that you will have to use anyway. The best part he didn’t mention, it is unbelievable….. I mean: to use ipad for key commands! of course. Use the brain 🧠 The other great vantage are the long faders. I use it on my iphone. If you have an ipad or iphone to keep on all the time, this is good. Otherwise it is not the pro solution and and not so reliable as a device just for these tasks. Principally while the touch functions with side car and compatibility is still incomplete on purpose , as everything Apple does. If i remember modifier keys do not work with ipencil or things like this… For the score editor is the same: it just looks nice
I have been using sidecar for a little while and love it. I also like the longer throws in the mixer like you mentioned it gives a more precise adjustment. The ability to use the iPad is better for me because like the tactile response versus using a mouse. I know its not an actual knob, switch or slider but it makes more sense in my head.
I’ve been using my iPad pro for 5 years. I have it full of synths, effects, video editors…. I’ve ordered my macStudio (7 weeks wait to go). I started a VisCom degree this year, as a mature age student and I hate using the mouse on the Macs at Uni. I love getting my fingers all over the iPad. Unfortunately, the fail rate and crashes the iPad has makes it less than professional. I looked today and their are many iPad apps I can download into the Mac. That makes me happy. I have been a Cubase user, firstly on an Atari Computer( which finally died about 15 years ago, took a hiatus from electronic music (stupidly giving away a mono/poly, ms 20 and a Juno 6. Now I’m going professional and I can’t wait to fire up Logic Pro when the Studio finally arrives. I enjoy your channel and I’ve subscribed. Looking forward to watching a lot more of your videos. Luckily enough, the wait on the Apogee symphony desktop won’t be nearly as long.
Awesome! Would love to hear more in-depth what you think about the atmos mixing with the AirPods max. I'm looking into buying them or the AirPods pro just for that. Don't really need new headphones besides that...
Really enjoy your channel. Best out there. Question,,,, how do I get flex pitch in piano role to external screen? Everything else seem to move over except flex pitch.thanks
I have an iPad Pro (11” M1) and I’m well into the Apple ecosystem - 24” M1 iMac, iPhone 12 Pro, iPad Mini (6th Generation). I’m also a musician with a small home recording studio and I use Logic Pro on my iMac. You prompted me to try Logic Remote so I downloaded the app on my iPad Pro and gave it a test drive. Long story short - it didn’t improve my workflow. I’ve not tried tried sidecar or universal control with Logic yet. I can see some potential benefit using the mixer on my iPad Pro. We’ll see. 😎🎸😎
Here's a random question: I like the way the mouse "looks" on the iPad in Universal control (the small gray circle). Is there a way to change the mouse to that look on a Mac?
Is there another app out there that would allow me to use my iPad with my older MacBook Pro 2015?? Would love to use it as a second screen... Thanks for all your great videos!!
@@CRASS2047 my 2012 iMac runs better than my 2015 mbp. I think it's because I refused to update it with apples bloatware , and desktops generally last longer cuz the battery doesn't degrade. Battery degradation causes throttling. I might get a Mac studio.
A few years ago, I remember reading that Logic was able to run plugins and instruments on a second computer for additional processing power. Now I can't find anything about it and I'm starting to think I imagined it. Is this a feature in Logic?
has anyone tried using multiple iPads with your Mac to use logic remote and sidecar, so you can have multiple screens with mixer tracks instead of scrolling
Thank you for an excellent video. I’ve been looking at getting a hardware controller like the Faderport 2 or 8 but seeing your video has got me thinking otherwise. Would you know whether the Presonus Faderport would enhance my workflow in any way? Thanks for the great content on your channel.
I have the iO station 24c & use it's functions extensively-as an addition to keystrokes & trackpad gestures. So for me, yes definately. Just getting into the sidecar world, but my intent is to use all available option.
Tactile controller mean you can close your eyes and focus on what you’re listening to (while taking a break from the screen). Not so easy dragging a fader up and down with a mouse.
This is good info, but the whole point is to use the iPad together with Logic as it is intended and also advocated in the name "Remote". This means to use it in situations where the input devices connected to the computer running Logic is not at the same location where the iPad running the remote app is used. Only in those situations it makes sense. For example having some hardware feets away from the main studio, or even in another room, then you are able to control recording, starting stopping the daw etc. this is the real power in my opinion. If you do not have such a situation then it is much better to use a second screen if needed or not using it at all.
Logic remote - tainted by Apple’s ignorant support. Remote “no longer supports Logic Pro X 10.5 and under”…However, due to plugins already purchased and PT requirements (I’m not subscribing EVER with Avid) I have to stay in High Sierra. Apple happily provides zero facks given and doesn’t even let you download an old version of remote. They don’t reply to any of the support questions on their own site. Logic is an awesome product, but oh man.

Nothing usable using mouse to control ipad. What is special about it? We can use second screen which is bigger and simple. I have tryed Ipad in many ways and it is not practical to use as remote control. As you said you like using the mouse to move faders on ipad. Whats the point? Just use second display. Pointless video
yeah...this is 10 years old..they never improved it! What a joke! Just buy a 34" monitor for 400 dollars - instead of a 1000 iPad that runs out of battery.... And NO point using the mouse on an iPad, that you have to connect with sidecar - and check 20 boxes...what the heck.... Video is great though - shows to NOT buy an iPad for that.
Apple Pencil is the best thing about sidecar - editing midi notes and drawing automation on an iPad Pro with an apple pencil is a total game changer.

I was using a screen sharing app called Duet for awhile to draw tedious shit on my iPhone.

I'm going to give this a try...
Great idea Dylan
Just got an ipad to try this. Crazy how the timing worked out.
0:40. apple was good with music apps since the ipod touch ... the ipad classic is still in my studio !!!😀

I’m new to this topic and I’m loving it. Trying this out tonight when I get home
Se puede controlar de manera táctil con un Apple Pencil¿

Love your posts. 👍
Thanks!
I never knew about side car , that rules ! thank you
I love this. Thanks for your great content! I often use the Remote App on my iPad. But this new features are really great.
Perfect thanks - and great opportunities - especially using the faders e.g. for automation and just use the touch screen to move the faders...
Ooooh I get to do the second comment!!! Sweet vids dude. Very helpful for getting new people into Logic Pro, which seems a mess at first...
love these vids sir.
Your videos are very useful, thanks!

I'd be interested in that too!
Awesome video!
Connect devices using a cable. I could then transfer .wav files to and from devices? Would this be a usb-c to usb-c?

Thanks, that was great and opens up a new world for me!
Thank you for this! Great content. This helped me tremendously.
Hi Chris. You do great work man. thanks
Once I put the iPad to work with logic remote and took the time to learn it, I simply can NOT use another midi controller.
Here's a random question: I like the way the mouse "looks" on the iPad in Universal control (the small gray circle). Is there a way to change the mouse to that look on a Mac?
Hi - is there a Launchpad App for iPad? I think that would be a great idea ?
Thank you, very very helpful.
Can you move the faders using touch on the iPad when you're using the mixer on the iPad with Universal Control?
no, and that is messed up! they been working on this for years, and it's stuck in 2012.
Love your channel man! Great content.
Is there another app out there that would allow me to use my iPad with my older MacBook Pro 2015?? Would love to use it as a second screen... Thanks for all your great videos!!
Duet display will work, I’ve had success with that app. Works on my 2012 mbp and 2018 iPad
I dont use logic but im tempted to insall a vmware virtual OSX just to run logic pro x and use that remote app.
logic remote when im in mixer view and scrol over to right to see mt main volume, it jumps back to the left sometimes, glitchy and anoying
Thank you!!!
I respect you so much!!! God bless you!!!
If I had a newer Mac, I could actually use these. I do use Logic remote.
Same boat bro. They use these tricks to sell so much hardware
@@pb25193 right. At this point, I’m grateful my 2013 imac still runs perfect. My gf has a laptop from 2016 that is absolute shit already

Nice. Let's go!

You tried recording tracks/regions in iPad Garageband and drag it to Logic?
What is the model of the wood studio rack case on stage-left? Thank you.
What kind of computer are you running
Does this still work? I heard it was disabled on iOS 17.2
Can we use the iPad touch to control logic pro running in The MacBook??
Great video. 👍🇦🇺

Thank you so much for sharing! My question is Can you connect 2 iPads at the same i.e. one iPad with universal control and one with side car
Tactile controller mean you can close your eyes and focus on what you’re listening to (while taking a break from the screen). Not so easy dragging a fader up and down with a mouse.
Nice one Chris! Been using my iPad as a secondary display with the mixer as I saw in one of your videos. It really helps!
This is dope
sidecar consumes a lot of cpu on my macbook pro 2018 15" :(
Nice!
That's iPad -- as soon as you find that killer app it makes sense!

“The iPad was a bit of a stumble” -Baba Booey
I tried the sidecar for a bit (not for logic) and thought the implementation was terrible
so did i. for a bit like you. it was terrible
Google fails AGAIN! I searched for US Logic Remote RC-240H
We don’t need those small ipads but touch screen support from apple
indeed!
