  • A classic given the CinemaGOOFS treatment! Enjoy!
Back to the Future is a 1985 American science fiction film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale. It stars Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, and Thomas F. Wilson. Set in 1985, it follows Marty McFly (Fox), a teenager accidentally sent back to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean automobile built by his eccentric scientist friend Emmett "Doc" Brown (Lloyd), where he inadvertently prevents his future parents from falling in love - threatening his own existence - and is forced to reconcile them and somehow get back to the future.

After firing Eric Stoltz, they basically had like an hour and a half to remake to the entire movie - plus they were pushed UP on the production schedule to get it out by July 4th weekend because the test audiences loved it so much and the studio wanted it OUT. And it became the #1 most iconic movie of all time. I think they did ok.

    • @paulportell3748
      @paulportell3748 13 годин тому

That's not a mistake. Remember when Marty constantly questions Doc's time traveling methods? Doc tells him "You're not thinking 4th Dimensionally." Doc clearly has a better grip on how much road was needed for him to travel into the future. At the end of the movie, he tells Marty "Where we're going, we don't need roads.
He already had the knowledge of there being flying cars in 2015. Therefore, he had the DeLorean hover converted in 2015 before grabbing Marty in 1985, so that they could fly back to 2015. We see a digital ad in BTTF2 2015 of Goldie Wilson III talking about giving hover upgrades to automobiles.

There are three that you missed:
    1. You can see the stunt driver dressed up as Einstein in a dog outfit when driving the car.
    2. In that same scene you can see crewman off to the side as the car speeds by about to timetravel.
    3. When biff get punched in the face by Marty in 1955 its said that was Eric Stolts fist, as after Eric was fired and Michael took over the role. Tom Wilson has gone on for years stating after Eric was let go he has no memories of ever reshooting that scene. So we have one possible shot of Eric Stoltz in BTTF.

I wouldn't consider the Flux Compressor/Capacitor a goof, necessarily, as that could be what he called it at the time he had the original idea. In 30 years, he could have easily changed the name of it several times, even. Especially, as he learned more about how the device would actually work.

    • @Savage3OO6

One flaw I always think of in BTTF3 is when Marty goes back to 1885 and the fuel is gone, technically there is another DeLorean that should be there when Doc went back where they could have got gas and fixed the fuel lines. Or just used the DeLorean Doc went back in. One of those paradox things.

The DeLorean that Doc was in that travelled to 1885 had fried time circuits from the second lightning strike and Doc said in his letter that replacement parts for the time circuitry would not be invented until 1947 (which allowed Doc from 1955 to repair the DeLorean and send Marty back to 1885, which means that they still needed to use the train to get that DeLorean up to 88mph because that was the only DeLorean in 1885 with intact time circuitry).

I noticed a goof when Marty is going back to 1985, and he slams his head on the steering wheel to try to start the car. Usually the horn on a Delorean is located on the control stalk next to the wheel, not in the center of the wheel. And for some reason, the horn sounds when he did this.

    • @nerdalicious2347

    There are so many more!
    1. We see how the television in Doc's garage gets automatically turned on with a light switch. What turns it back off?
    2. How does the Kal-Can dog food lid get removed from the magnet of the automated dog feeder? Where did the previous can's lid go?
    3. What creates all the fog/smoke when Doc backs the car out of the van? And even if he somehow got into the gull-wing car after he closed up the van, why is smoke/fog coming from inside the time machine when he first makes an appearance? Was he chonging out with Jeff Spicoli or something?
    4. The spedometer in the beginning (1985-to-1955) is MUCH different than the spedometer at the end (1955-to-1985 ).
    5. When Doc took the suction cup from the dog's head, the mind-reading machine kept running, but when Marty pulls the suction cup from his head, it causes the machine to wind down to a stop.
    6. Without completely disassembling Doc's 1955 television, how is Doc able to connect the AV cords from the JVC player to a simple vacuum-tube television receiver and get it to play as a video monitor in any fashion whatsoever? It's like getting a 1970s 9-volt transistor AM radio to play as a speaker for a compact disc player. Perhaps it is possible, but very time consuming nonetheless.
    7. Does Lou have a chocolate milk just ready to slide across the bar to George in case he might come in and order one? Is it on the house or does George have a running tab? We sure as hell don't see George pay for it...
    8. Who kills/unplugs the jukebox when Biff walks in and says "Hey McFly?"
    9. How does hitting your head on the steering wheel ever turn over the ignition on ANY car? His hands were on the wheel, not turning keys.
    10. How is the Peabody Farm and Lyon Estates two miles away from Hill Valley in 1955, yet much less than ten minutes running distance from downtown to the Lone Pine Mall in 1985?
So many more than ten, but I've got to get on with my day.

0:13 #1 You and I know that's lighting equipment but unless you're really, really looking hard it could just be the reflection of windows on the other side of Doc's lab.
0:22 #2 Let's just say during the cut that guy forgot something turned around real quick and walked back again.
0:29 #3 Nobody says those doors go directly outside. They could lead to the gym, or have a close building shading it.
0:38 #4 Marty couldn't have taken off his watch between skitching to school? However, at the end of the movie when Marty meets back up with Jennifer he's not wearing the watch. In the reshoot for Part 2 with Elizabeth Shue, he is wearing it. And the truck and license plate are different.
0:43 #5 Biff is an oblivious jerk.
0:58 #6 The candy jar. ACTUAL GOOF #1
1:12 #7 & 8 If heads can be erased from pictures, then video can be slightly altered too. Marty had already run over Peabody's pine, so that footage is from Lone Pine mall. So any changes are fair game.
1:39 #9 The digital stop watches aren't turned on. ACTUAL GOOF #2
1:45 #10 Doc pulled in the truck so he can pull out for dramatic effect and to surprise Marty.
2:02 #11 The speedometer on a Delorean only goes up to 85. This means that Doc had to fabricate a new dashboard along with all the other modifications. I like to think that while he was changing the dashboard, he accidentally messed up the odometer, and ever since it just spins around at random.
2:24 #12 Lights, especially on such a crappy car, can flick off and on at random. I wouldn't be surprised if that's even what actually happened while filming. Tom Wilson always says that car was a piece of garbage.
2:38 #13 A strong gust of wind? I'll give it to you. ACTUAL GOOF #3
2:45 #14 The Red Thomas sign. ACTUAL GOOF #4.
    2:57 #15 Eh....nah
3:03 #16 Can't the bell be obstructed by his book? Can it be the bell of another bicycle? There had to be a second bell over on that grassy knoll.
3:10 #17 Call the RCA company to confirm that cable's viability.
3:19 #18 That was Doc's first draft of the Flux Capacitor. Marty is not reading the diagram, he's saying what it is.
3:23 #19 The girl in the blue sweater, like the guy outside the aerobics studio, turned around and came back real quick.
3:35 #20 Famous cut scene where Marty actually uses the hairdryer as a death ray. Since you couldn't know that just by watching the film, I'll give it to you. ACTUAL GOOF #5
3:50 #21 Twin brother? The could write it in the sequel if they wanted to. ACTUAL GOOF #5 Also, nobody's mouth is moving when the boy exclaims "HEY!" Also also, Biff and the gang stop right behind the kids, then when they cut to him saying "Wow, look at him go!" Biff and the gang are stopping right behind the kids again.
4:01 #22 So the car shimmied a little on impact. Okay.
4:13 #23 Bob Gale is still so stifled that some kid had nothing to do with his life but spend his time nitpicking minute mistakes in films. I mean, who does that, amirite?? But there's no excuse for this. ACTUAL GOOF #6
4:22 #24 The cuts are too close together so there is no excuse for the Pepsi case. ACTUAL GOOF #7
    4:31 #25 Marty made a mistake.
4:48 #26 Strickland's hands on his ears. ACTUAL GOOF #8
4:50 #27 The Assembly of Christ needs to raise money to replace that cheap drywall.
5:04 #28 The box is empty then full then empty again. ACTUAL GOOF #9
5:12 #29 The glasses are so hard to notice through the shade. I'm not giving you that one.
5:20 #30 It's only the reflection of a camera because you KNOW it's the reflection of a camera. I bet if you have a poll to unsuspecting viewers they'd say it's the reflection of a house or a car.
    New final count: 9/30

It needed new exhaust, a new frame and some minor engine repair. My friend who fixes Deloreans for a living bought it off me and is going to repair it over the holidays.
