Im a Malaysian and that "hole in the floor" is really true haha its pretty normal to us haha! I actually prefer that as compared to the regular sitting toilet as you dont have to dirty your butt cheeks
yeah...those sitting toilets are sometime disgusting. People pee around and didnt wash it, sometimes doesnt flush and seeing poop floating, and many more. Then you need your skin to touch the toilet bowl that got many germs that we cant see...Sometimes the urine colour is look identical with water colour. Just imagine sitting on someone urine. XD

Malaysian here.There’s two types of toilets in Malaysia. The first being the normal toilet (which is more common) the other being the squat toilet for people who prefer squatting while taking a dump.

People appalled by floor toilets don't understand just how practical and economical they are. They are cheaper and easier to clean too. Most people in Asia wouldn't actually sit on a public toilet seat anyway and it's a lot easier to hover over a hole in the ground than a seat. Squatting isn't that hard...come on, develop some leg strength!
