Sushmita was the clear winner. Aishwarya was favoured by the judges but her answer in the final round, saying her birth was a historical event, which was a completely wrong answer, made the judges reconsider. Sushmita truly triumphed even though the judges weren’t fairly scoring. More power to her.

I dont know how many of you noticed by aishwarya falled in second last round...also sushmita won because she was all her self throughout the contest elegant, purely and spontanious where as aishwarya came accrossed who was over trained, she was just not herself...

aishwarya won miss catwalk miss photogenic miss ten, miss popular and in swimsuit aishwarya 8.69 sushmita 7.83, round 2 aishwarya 9.0 sushmita 8.40, round 3 aishwarya 9.10 sushmita 8.60, round 4 both have a tie and in final aishwarya 9.39 and sushmita 9.41 so who performed better overall if overall performence was judged instead of just final round then

There was a time came just before miss universe 1994 when sushmita sen was supposed to leave for Manila and her passport was misplaced by anupama Verma ( famous model of 90s) and the organisers of femina decided to send Aishwarya Rai instead of her...it was admitted that organisation never had confidence over sushmita's win at miss universe where Aishwarya would have been a clear winner and organisers were willing Aishwarya to represent India at miss universe, so that India could get its crown ... sushmita proved everyone wrong by winning the title...also for Aishwarya , it was more justified with her representation at miss World as miss Worlds are more popular in India and thts why she rules many hearts

One thing I would like to add Aishwarya has been consistent from the very beginning and still she is. It's her nature. She was perfect in all the rounds. God might not want her to see the no.1 in this contest but she is blessed with numerous things. God has given her everything in terms of beauty, talent, intelligence, super successful career ,family etc. And she has become legend because of her love for work, hardship, dedication,and very very focused mind. She is bold through her softness. She speaks polite but she worked in challenging and remarkable roles in the wonderful films with genius directors in Bollywood ,regional fields and abroad. That is she all about. Lots of love and respect for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

And secondly look how bad Aishwarya answered for the final round, first one. Her birth is not a ‘historical’ event. She completely missed the point of the question. For that alone she shouldn’t have placed. The only reason she even placed was because of her high average points which were obviously higher than the other contestants because the judges were partial towards her. Sushmita completely deserved to win. She won even though the judges were partial towards Aishwarya. Just look at the difference in the level of questions asked in the second final round. Sushmita was and is will always be the winner.

because miss universe pattern was also same from 2007 to till now it is averaged by all rounds performence now that rule has changed

It was the toughest question yet she handled it with grace. Imagine asking Aishwarya which tv character she would rather date and Sush the textile heritage of India. The judges wanted and wished Aishwarya to win. It’s evident. Yet Sush emerged as the clear winner. Stop lying blind Aishwarya fan. Everyone knows Aishwarya was favored but still lost.

Sush Auntie was a surprise winner considering that Ash Auntie was leading throughout the competition. She however proved to the world, or Universe rather that she was the right Femina Miss India winner when she won MU in Manila. I've also had a chance to view all her interviews and she is so well spoken, a true quality of a Miss Universe.
Aishwarya was just doing overacting 😂 no hate …. I love her i admire her she is so beautiful but I don’t know what happened to her here

The other contestants raher than the winners were so poorly prepared. I feel so bad hearing the inability to answer the questions in a proper manner.
I have been in those stages and i know the feel of absurdity and blankness in the times of the q&a rounds yet we’re there for a reason and we should know to answer questions being put up impromptu.
Anyhow, love watching such a show of a year in which i was born. 😅🎉

I liked the entire contest the music the beautiful ladies and their walk etc etc... It's better than many other beauty contests I have seen... But I see I am too honest and too brainy to win this title 😂 for example I would say I don't like Mahatma Gandhi because he thought self violence... Etc etc in one beauty contest they asked such non sense question chicken or egg first... Now I would say I don't know also there is no scientific proof but everything else seems to be evolved from the formation of protoplasm 😂 and clearly it's a flat but honest answer... Such contests choose hypocritical socially acceptable answers as best answers and then they win it's all so programmed like... So it's boring it would be more interesting enough to see the reality honesty impartiality wining in each contest...

sushmita won because then miss india rules was different than present miss india, then miss india doesn't choose by overall performance miss india choose by only final answer that's why Aishwarya didn't win, because Aishwarya was in top in all round before final round but Sushmita's performance was not very impressive in other rounds and in final round judges give sushmita 9.41 and Aishwarya Rai 9.39 so Sushmita won over ash but if the then Miss India rules is like present then result will totally different because from 2007 to present, miss india is choose by a contestant overall performance final answer doesn't matter so in new rule Aishwarya will won by a big margin over sushmita sen
