Yeah for real. I have one with the new curved display and I've had it for about 6 months. It still irritates me that I need to go into the infotainment for every single thing I want to change. What took one button tap on my previous car, a button which you could locate blindly, is now 2 to sometimes 4 screen taps and you need to look at the screen to do it. It's really distracting. And the worst part of it is, at least I think, that they took away our 8 shortcut buttons too. That was a function I used constantly on my previous car. Equalizer on button 1, GPS route home on button 2, call my partner on button 3, sports display on button 4, etc etc. It really sucks this new system, though the curved screen does look very cool. Also, the main menu sucks compared to the previous gen. In this gen it's just a whole mess of icons thrown onto a single display. All the icons look very similar so you need to scroll down and read the icon titles to find anything, which takes ages. in the previous gen they were spread out over submenu's in categories. I think in the next gen we will see more buttons again, don't think they'll keep doing this if you look at how much backlash there is. I love my current car but I do miss the infotainment of my previous one dearly
I set my climate to auto so lack of buttons for that wouldn’t bother me. My car has screen controls as well as buttons/dials for everything and I never use the climate dials.

To add to this, a 2003 nicely optioned X5 was MSRP $47k. In 2023 money that's $79k. inflation adjusted, the car is roughly the same price, if not a little cheaper. and you get way more features than a 2003.

same here! I love the dashboard of pre LCI X5. This new big screen looks like an afterthought, just like you just slap a giant TV on the dash to get the job done! It does not blend well with all the curve of the interior. Honestly it looks so cheap! In my country they also start selling this LCI. Just ordered a well-equipped X5 at 78k MSRP. For the same money, I could have had a marked-up Tundra TRD Pro with vinyl seats, no recovery hooks, and a rattly cheap plastic interior.
I ordered a 2024 X5 xDrive50e plug-in hybrid two weeks ago. That thing is a torque monster! It's also faster than my previous M3 in a straight line and way more luxurious. The two downsides (other than price) are: 1) it's too expensive for a tax credit 2) custom builds take 4 to 6 months right now.
I feel like a certified pre-owned X5 from the prior gen would be the smarter buy. All used cars are still expensive but BMWs depreciate faster than many other brands.
I got the 2023 45e and the air suspension really helps those corners. I thing the only thing that makes the 2024 better than the 2023 is the engine output and the tail lights... To me. I hate the 2024 dash info system as well Yuri.
I played with one of those infotainments when I worked at a dealership - it does work really well! And it’s very fluid. But… BUT…. It doesn’t work better than having a dedicated section of physical buttons. In my opinion, in luxury cars especially, convenience is a luxury… having physical controls are literally just more intuitive and safer - we have fingers and hands for a reason, that tactile sense needs to come back to more cars, they are losing personality the more these manufacturers make cars devoid of physical controls. Good design by humans can be felt, and it seems design teams are either forgetting this or stuck in a trend right now. The more these cars become CES tech shows on wheels, the less designed they feel and more like just another electronic device and less of a car, that you connect with in a human way, not an internet way. Okay, rant over lol.
The reason why this X5 has no M Sport badges or black trim is because this one is the xLine model, which is technically the base model, but it has the same level of equipment just without the sporty features.
The grill not encompassing the entirety of the front fascia of the car is a welcomed relief from BMW's current lineup. The lack of climate control buttons is less appreciated
The vehicle does have launch control. To activate, you set the traction to DTC with a single press (long press turns off traction completely), put the shifter in S position, press the brake, then simultaneously press the accelerator, and in the dash you should see “launch control” wording of some sort. Release the brake within 3 seconds of seeing that in the dash. Sounds like a lot but it’s super easy to do. I have a 2021, but BMW could have very well removed the functionality for 2024.
Got the Brooklyn grey in this model. Looks awesome with all the blacked out optics but you have to keep paying options galore. It looks weird with the chrome. We were lucky we ordered and got it in 6 weeks. And you just have to say open the window. The bmw senses where the sound is coming from and opens that window
Its weird how getting everything in black ends up costing so much. Black colour is extra, then the black trim is extra. In the end it seemed to be 9k extra just to have things black :D
Gen05 is better and this is not me being bitter The crystal shifter was one of a kind, old ambient lighting is more uniformed and more attractive, no mild hybrid = more reliable, and you can get it used for cheaper
In Canada, especially the colder provinces like Alberta, X5 and X3 hold their value really well lmao. in 2 years this vehicle will go from 100k to 65-75k depending on the trim and options.
Just watched a Savagegeese review put out the same day about a competing Mercedes with very similar specs and less options for $93,000 USD. Unreal. This almost seems like a bargain by comparison despite still being very expensive.
Pretty sure the steering problem you were complaining about in this and the M240i is the "variable sport steering" option. A lot of BMW owners complain about that to the point where forums recommend not speccing it under any circumstances. Despite the name "Variable sport steering" has nothing to do with the sport drive modes and getting heavier. That is called "Servotronic"
Good video. No comment about the pulsating turn signals or that laser lights are no longer available as they switched to active matrix lights. Would loved to have seen a review on the plug in hybrid model.
I just bought a bmw x5 50e for 1.2mio DKK here in Denmark. That's 180K USD. Almost half of the price is taxes. We have special extra tax on cars here in Denmark. Around 150% tax on normal gasoline cars, but "only" around 80% on phevs.
That X5 does actually have launch control, press the brake and the accelerator at the same time (push the accelerator to the floor, you will feel a button click); the launch control flag symbol appears on the dash and just lift of brake pedal and it will take off!
Pricing for the X5 is crazy. You can get the new 5-series sedan for less than 60,000€ in Europe, 30,000€ less than the X5. The Touring probably will start around 62,000€... Do you have 50% more utility with the SUV? I highly doubt that for most people, 5-series/i5 is the way to go!
I’m excited for this to push down the prices of pre LCI. Not a big fan of the infotainment, looks wise I think I would also stick with the pre LCI or even the F15.
After options, its the same price as the 50e, which I think is a considerable smarter daily driver considering you can just do your basic everyday driving, like going to work or grocery shopping, while paying basically nothing for gas, and can still go on long road trips without having to stop multiple to charge.
I purchased one, 2024 X5 sDrive 40i, xLine, Alpine White (Unfortunately) on Black (Unfortunately). With options, I'm at 74k and I have launch control. 37, retired chemist/paleontologist and need a functional daily driver. I love the infotainment and you can set the "1-8" favorites into gesture control. I don't use carplay/android auto or voice control. Other cars are 2023 i7 60i and 2014 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead.
Great review as always. Obviously the new X5 seems expensive in Canada when compared with the old one but its crazy in Australia. The new X5 base model with no options in Australia costs the equivalent of about $135k canadian.
@@KashifKhan-fe8fk over here in canada its 130 grand maxed for the x5 hybrid. last time i heard my model 3 was 80 lakh inr! jeez. really feel bad for you bhai.
I have a 2021 X5 and love it! Performs well, handles well and is comfortable on long trips. Gets decent mileage, 27 on the highway at 75 mph21 in town. Heated and cooled seats with message function great after a round of golf. Voice control works fine for me. I like I Drive 7 touch screen and twist knob. Also, shifter nicer than small switch. Buttons are handy. 2024 has more HP and newer infotainment but I’ll keep mine for now!
I'd love to see you guys review the 2024 GLE! My initial impression is it has a better interior and infotainment, and better steering but worse engines.
I’ve driven the new M60i and the 2023 GLE 53, and that’s exactly right. The GLE is a better driving car, feels more solid, sounds better, and nicer inside and imo better looking too. The X5 is really powerful, but doesn’t handle all that well in comparison. It is a bit quieter inside, but also less spacious
Agreed im not finding any cars made since 2018 that are better today. So many good brands peaked between 2012-2016... just buy a used car and a huge family vacation each of the next 6 years you would be paying $1400 per month for this.
I like the new curved screen but they should have kept the climate buttons with that little screen like in the old x5 . No one liked it when VW did that and BMW does the same
I’ll keep my 2016 30d SE with 7 seats and tow bar. Similar relative spec to that just older. And older bmw drivers- pay the 100 bucks and refresh your idrive with real time traffic!! Le bingo!
I like this, definitely prefer the newer styling. I think it looks more balanced. The interior is great although not sure I’d go such a light coloured interior. I wonder if you can upgrade the steering wheel. I really don’t like it when they have the two arms going downwards. Much prefer the sport version with one solid arm and the heated steering wheel switch in the middle of it. It just looks better. Infotainment looks perfect to me. Aesthetically, I think the screen is super cool & the graphics look sensational. So the question is, do the lack of buttons matter. I’d say for me 98 percent of the time no. I’m always connected to Apple Car Play & I know the BM will seamlessly connect me. As far as the temperature adjustments go, I hardly every adjust anything except maybe adjust the temp up and down a couple of degrees. The car has wireless charging and heads-up display, both great features. oh yeah and I agree that split folding rear tailgate and the fact that you can just separately open the glass works great. A base model, with plenty of punch & paddle shifters is great. Plus the economy is reasonable. In my mind this is faultless combination, oh and looks soooo much better than the opposition, especially that cruddy egg shaped Stelvio 😂
@@user-qu2kz4rx3s Stelvio would have to be the worst looking SUV on the planet. I don’t care if I don’t get any likes, but glad you read it, there are lots of creepy crawlers out there, that read but don’t give the thumbs up. As long as they read it I’ve made progress. Anyway, Alfa are unlikely to ever build a car that’s built to the level of this new X5, I don’t think they’re capable.
Hi - I’ve been researching online whether the back door glass separately opens, I am trying to figure out if my paddle board will fit inside, sticking out the back window. I can’t find anything online. But you mention that you know for a fact it opens?
It's Amazing how much money some people have. Leasing this is no better since it's like almost 40k over 36 months on a typical lease. Of course this is for only 10k miles per year.

2016 X5 50i. I actually owned one but started developing mechanical problems/suspension issues and was too costly. I would not mind getting back into one sometime down the line though.
I get this looks generic, but the wheels look amazing and the Sorento has the goofy underbite front-end, weird shark fin c-pillar and black cladding I hate on any crossover. Neither will make me look, but less is more here in comparison.

Really feeling the interior color and lane keep system. Beyond that I don’t see the draw. I’m thinking there more or just as comfortable options out there for less money. Does Jakub rate the actual rear seat room based on his feelings about the car instead of the actual seating room? His knees are tucked into the back of that seat back, they’re halfway to his nipz and he’s in an upright crunch position. “I” wouldn’t call that very good room but I guess it’s personal preference 🤷♂️. That interior looks real purty though.
Pricing out a GV80 vs the x5. I was shocked at what was NOT standard in the x5. The cost spiraled over $100k and still don't have the stuff the GV80 has.
Oh and one more thing, the lack of hard buttons, and having to get a subscription for seat, heaters or coolers or to roll my windows down is ludicrous!!!
Sweet spot for 24 X5 is the 50e, w/ M sport package. Adds M steering wheel, front fascia & body trim color match, cooler wheels, & jumps 0-60 to 4.5,4.6 seconds. $80K US, which is a lot $, but nothing cheaper in class has better ride & is faster, plus PHEV rebate make it near same $ as base 40i
@@gregs8685 it’s tax code, tied to individual, & impossible to get a straight answer given variables.
It's crazy how many car companies nowadays offer better self driving than Tesla
The 45e with a tune seems like the unbeatable street SUV
The 50e is new for 2024, would love a review of that one!
I’m excited for this to push down the prices of pre LCI. Not a big fan of the infotainment, looks wise I think I would also stick with the pre LCI or even the F15.
Just got my X5 X40i in Brooklyn Grey with the M package. Absolutely terrific vehicle!
that X-MEN shirt goes so hard man!
It would look way better with the m package, which would add shadow line trim… and some little m badges in random places.
But that package along with black colour costs like 9k extra
If I get into a road rage with a X5 owner and he locks himself to avoid me. All i have to do is scream "open front left window" 😂
Its $210k CAD in India! That too its assembled in India! Lucky Canadians and you!
Not worth the price.
2016 X5 40e M Sport owner here. Still loving it but plan to trade her in for a 45e M Sport in a year or two
Great review guys! But yeah, that price is crazy.
X5 50d will be best engine choice on many markets without dirt cheap fuel.
Its $210k CAD in India! That too when it's assembled in India! I envy your prices!
No one liked it when VW did that and BMW does the same
Thank you for always doing the visor test. You guys taught me that my clarity did that 4 years ago.
I’ll keep my 2016 30d SE with 7 seats and tow bar. Similar relative spec to that just older. And older bmw drivers- pay the 100 bucks and refresh your idrive with real time traffic!! Le bingo!
I think it’s a great daily drive to office with a decent interior and quality but without shouting Money. A good 1 of 2 or 3 cars
They took out Launch control on the newer x5’s?? Our 2019 x5 40i has LC
m sport package (or m sport professional package in certain markets) is needed for launch control
No wonder your comment has no likes. Awful opinion. Especially on the Stelvio🤦🏼♂️

I ordered a 50e. Better MPG and with 45 miles all electric range allows for commuting on all electric.
It's Amazing how much money some people have. Leasing this is no better since it's like almost 40k over 36 months on a typical lease. Of course this is for only 10k miles per year.
Been watching and enjoying for years… do you think you brought your “A” game to this review?
Fun fact the interior space on the X5 vs the X3 is nearly identical
Yeah the backseat of the X5 is very underwhelming. The equivalent GLE is much more spacious in the second row
@@heinman6250 That is because the X5 has a giant engine. I will gladly give up back seat space for a larger more fun engine, i sit in the front anyways lol
Just had one of these for a week as a rental traveling all over Long Island NY, what an incredible machine. Does everything well, even with the family and all their belongs it was still able to out accelerate traffic without issue while returning 25mpg.
2016 X5 50i. I actually owned one but started developing mechanical problems/suspension issues and was too costly. I would not mind getting back into one sometime down the line though.
IMO there front lights are better then basic lights from previous gen - only laser lights had this cool led illumination in daylight :/
Marina Bay Blue is no normal blue - check it out IRL guys. It would be a great "free" color choice for the new X5.
The tail lights look like an energy sword from Halo
This looks more spacious and gorgeous! What a color!
Save money and get the Mazda CX90
Toyota highlander 2004.
i think id save money and get the pre-lci x5
I'd be just as likely to turn my head to look at a KIA Sorento....
Sorento is smaller and much less nice tbh
I get this looks generic, but the wheels look amazing and the Sorento has the goofy underbite front-end, weird shark fin c-pillar and black cladding I hate on any crossover. Neither will make me look, but less is more here in comparison.
@@matyi63ou are right Sorento looks better!
RIP OLD HEADLIGHTS TO THIS DAY

Why do you want to trust car companies with all your data

Okay BMW turn air-conditioning on and navigate to the chicken shop. 😂

As a realtor, I have to agree, it should be a White M60i. Then I'd buy it.
The reason this particular car doesn't have M badges is because it does not have the M Sport pacakage
Nice G-Shock! Great review.
Pricing out a GV80 vs the x5. I was shocked at what was NOT standard in the x5. The cost spiraled over $100k and still don't have the stuff the GV80 has.
Hmm….i loaded everything I could on my 40i, except the high-end stereo, and air suspension, and it was still under $90k.
$80K US, which is a lot $, but nothing cheaper in class has better ride & is faster, plus PHEV rebate make it near same $ as base 40i
How much is the PHEV rebate?
@@gregs8685 it’s tax code, tied to individual, & impossible to get a straight answer given variables. I believe up to $3,750 for PHEV, $7,500 for EV, dependent upon your personal income(limited for high earners), then the final MSRP must be under $80K, so essentially dealer can’t answer individually
@@JackieTreehoorn Yep, that is why i bought the 2024 50e...Plus 4k tax break
I like blacked out wheels and grill.
I currently lease (business vehicle) a Mercedes GLE53 and I will not be leasing the new model. My current GLE53 had a base price of 68,000 when I leased it in 2020 for a 2021 model and with options it came in at 80k.
The base price for the new GLE53 is now 84k!!! it increased by 16,000 in 3 years and to get my current exact car with same options it is not 96k
That is what a fkn GLE63 used to cost. These car companies are out of their fkn minds...
Genesis GV80 here I come. I can't even "downgrade" to the GLE450 because the payments for that specced out the same as my current GLE53 IS MORE than what I am paying now
I ll buy a non sporty SUV and in a year when the market continues to drop buy my self an LC500 as the luxury/ sporty fix my GLE gives me now
2020 is where it ends for me. Really BMW couldn’t miss from 2020-22
It's raining videos here, damn. Just curious, how many miles/kilometres do you guys drive daily??
A lot. No idea what the actual number is
I got one of the first of the '24s back in may. Absolutely love it! Nothing drives like a BMW
Im waiting a year or two for this to come to CPO. This is my next car.
tsp.TrueCar.com
You have been saying that for years bud. Ill beleive it when i see it.
best one for me, the Genesis GV80 and 25K in my pocket
Not in the same league. You are comparing a Hyundia to a BMW. Please stop
@v60polestar88 sorry but not even close, if you think Genesis is just a Hyundai, you're missing the plot. I've had 3 BMWs, Lexus, and a MB and I'll keep my Genesis and save 10s of thousands.
Genesis is a Hyundai just like Lexus is Toyota and Infiniti is Nissan. Come on dude. They share parts and platforms. Keep it 100% The window switches, engines, transmission, etc are shared so stop acting like Genesis is some brand new luxury car brand. Its not it's a premium brand not a luxury brand
@v60polestar88 One HUGE difference however, Genesis built completely different platforms for their vehicles whereas an RX 350 is just a RAV 4 with nicer leather, same underpinnings though
For 100k there are like 10 options before getting this
Not with a V8 😮
