for used cars: lotus Elise/exige, porsche cayman, amg gt, alfa 4c, nissan gtr, lc500, aston vantage, R8, i8, etc.
I think this would be on my shortlist of "if I ever won the lottery" vehicles.

@@AM93000 hence why I said well over. $300k is the absolute minimum according to the Ramsey approach (car price should be less than half your annual salary). But Ive always gone by the idea that no more than 10% of your net monthly income goes towards a car payment. 20% down. 60 month term. You do the math, probably closer to $450k gross income to “comfortably” afford a $150k car in my book if you include 8% sales tax and a 6.5% interest rate. Assuming an income tax around 35%.

Car and Driver 2024 Lighting Lap put an X5M on the track, and their driver said that if you don't track it, you're missing out. It's REALLY good on the track.

It's actually a 4yr 50k/mile warranty. You can also extend that out for a reasonable cost. Keep in mind anyone dropping $140k on a Luxury SUV like this won't own it past about 3-4 years. It's not meant for normal people like us. Lol

I live in Florida. In the summer it's to be 95-102 degrees, got 2 teenagers and if I'm dropping 150K, yeah ventilated rear seats should be included. It's not even a option in the US 😂😂😂
I’m curious what your thoughts are on this compared to a Cayenne? I cross chopped an X5 M competition against the Cayenne GTS. The Cayenne is slightly down on power, but when you drive them back to back, you don’t notice it. I felt like the BMW had more standard features, but the Cayenne was way better in terms of driving dynamics and sportiness. If I was buying a high-performance SUV based on price and specs you would think the X5 is the one to get but when you drive them, the one that put the biggest smile on my face was the Porsche. The exhaust is even better than the X5… 😜. Have you done a review of a cayenne GTS?
Agree. If you want a big bruiser, get the BMW but if you can appreciate sophisticated engineering and handling, the GTS is the obvious choice.

Great video, what a monster that is. I really enjoy my 22 X5 40i its really smooth. The competition isn’t my cup of tea, too pricey and too much power, i’d be bankrupt in speeding tickets. I was following the refresh on the road and agree with you the blinker light show is terrible

I love BMWs as I had 3 of them, but for the life of me I can't fathom paying almost $150k for a vehicle that in 5 years will be worth only $30k-$40k?! To me the better bargain is to buy it used if you can afford the maintenance?
Find me a 2019-2020 X5 comp, clean title, decent condition for 30-40k plz. They r going for 65-75k nation wide.

B58 X5 yes, absolutely. This V8 ehhh it’s had some issues over the years. Probably fine these days but hasn’t had the best track record.

Is worth every penny of it and I love it. Just so fun to drive around as your everyday car. Very fast and the sound is incredible. I wouldn't recommend buying a used BMW as with any luxury vehicles they tend to go bad after 100k and fixing is extremely expensive so I don't keep my car longer than 7yrs depending how much mileage I put on..

everyone pushing Hyundai's and Kia's about to throw some shade in comments section. I love it and even though somewhat over engineered compared to its country mens versions, if maintained properly they are great SUV's
you can get this and more from a hyundai and kia, and still have money left over make it make sense 🤦🏾
It makes good business sense to extend the product run for several years before a redesign by adding a higher performance trim each year. This vehicle is in its sixth year, and if BMW wanted a 7th, all they have to do is add a CS model for 2025.

$144K for an X5???????? One day consumers are going to wake up and realise that it doesn't make any sense to spend that kind of money on a car like that when the base model is almost $70K cheaper. You could get a mid-range model and still have plenty left over.

The x5 might be the only BMW in the current lineup that I still like. But I would buy a well equipped 50e.

Wow, the steering wheel looks like its retaining water. Although the rest of the interior look decent enough. And who doesn't love the excellent adjustablility of BMW seats? The best in the automotive industry.
BTW, good thing we have a pause with the race through the center console. I guess I should be grateful since some reviewer never even point the camera down into the bin. So you never know how deep it goes or if its lit, lined, or has any USB or 12v plugs.
save yourself $40k and get the M60i, same engine tuned differently and a LOT more comfort.

It’s easy to beat it. It’s called the X5 M60. It rides much better than the full on M version seen here.

Great review. Answered all my questions. I think I would rather have the M60 version due to the better ride quality. I owned a 2013 X5 with the factory sport suspension (springs, no air ride), and it was tolerable at the time when I was younger. However, I am positive that I wouldn’t want anything similar to that ride quality now, too firm. I have to assume the X5M is at least that firm.
The M60 version does not have “better” ride quality if you want a sporty SUV …it’s just squishy and floaty like a minivan! I drove the M60 and the X5M - back to back - and the drives like a minivan with power. Then I went to the Porsche dealer and drove a cayenne GTS and it was all over. The x5 is an SUV that they try to make sporty… the cayenne is a sports car that just looks like an suv…

I literally thought the bmw and Mazdas with these turn signals were manufacturers defects and they just didn’t recall them because they weren’t a hazard. Realizing it was actually a decision makes no sense to me

Previous front end looked way better, it looks really odd with the half black painted bumber under the grill. There design team needs fired, it started with the M4, then the 7 series, the x7 & the 5 series. They haven’t ruined the 3 series but it’ll be next
Just buy MDX Type S and save yourself a ton of money for the gas and other maintenance cost.
MDX isn’t a rival to this x5M. Regular x5 40 maybe

Same interior on ALL BMW's, Mercedes etc... at least Mercedes gives you the option for the super/hyper screen vs the regular screen... 🤷🏽 I miss the 90's to early 2000's where each interior had a different personality.

Don't like the new turn signals. Saw one the other day in the bright sunlight and could barely tell its turn signals were on because they kept fading in and out.

The blinkers appear to be having an epileptic seizure. Very odd.
You can't always trust the car's exterior light. In some cases, the cameras frame rate can make the lights do funky things. They appear to pulsate sometimes, but are actually solid to the naked eye.
In this case, apparently they really are blinking funny. It that the designed of a faulty test car? Only BMW can answer that.

@@krane15I've seen them function in person and they have that nonsensical pulsing that looks like they're malfunctioning. Also, no separate running, brake and amber turn signals on USDM vehicles, which adds insult to injury.

What is the point? I have the X5 M60 and I can’t use it anywhere in addition to it being a SUV and not a sports car. It just is not a good daily driver.

BMW manufactures some of the ugliest cars ever made. Hyundai is a close second. To their credit, they make the best seats. Ford comes in second, although they're general seating comfort. While BMW is designed more toward sport.

@Foreign84 There are two types of BMW drivers. Either they can afford to buy it or lease it and if they choose to buy out the lease or keep it after the warranty runs out they have enough money to pay for maintenance and repairs.
The other group is "POSERS " who overextend themselves to drive around in a vehicle they can't afford to try to impress people they have never met while pretending to be wealthy.
The latter group complains about unreliability because they have delayed the expensive maintenance that comes with a luxury vehicle which leads to inevitable repairs that they can't afford.
BMW has very high owner satisfaction and retention rates so they must be pleasing their customers.

6:39 the taillights are a complete and utter failure. No proper separate running, brake and amber turn signals and the nonsensical pulsing is ineffective and ambiguous and need to be reprogrammed ASAP. Why can barely any manufacturers design safe, effective and unambiguous tailllights anymore with proper separate running, brake and amber turn signals? It's completely baffling.

I considered purchasing the X5 40i and went to test drive it. I was not impressed, especially with the interior and all the cheap shiny plastic everywhere. Of course this comp version offers much more but I still hate all that shiny carbon fiber. I purchased a different luxury brand that had a WAY nicer interior.

If you only have one garage space this is a great solution, but I cant stand the idea of a luxury SUV with hard, high bolstered sports seats. You cant even adjust the headrest in these… AMG at least gives you the option to choose normal bolstered heated/cooled/massage seats. I wish BMW did this on their M SUVs.
