I like every malmsteen cover I see. even if it's mediocre compared to the original it still takes a tremendous amount of skill and hard work to even come close. this is extremely well done and beyond any other I've seen
Malmsteen's best songwriting work is on this cd. He was a watershed in guitar history. Everyone wanted to sound like him. Missing Malmsteen's good times and inspirations from him. Phenomenal cover of it. I'd like to see more of Symphony X. A big hug master.
Thank you Paulo! Many magic moments on RF. I've always loved how he quotes the Johann Krieger's Bourée for lute in the intro to Evil Eye. More Symphony X is coming, I'm practicing it now!
@@ClassicSoloSpotlight Incredible! He gives excellent approaches to several themes in which he is inspired. This was certainly the CD I listened to the most in my entire life. I also really like Michael Romeo, Jason Becker and Satriani.
Peter, how you nailed YJM's idiosyncratic timing, pull offs, slides, X notes, tremolo and pickup selection is fantastic! It's the most faithful representation I've heard since the album.
One of my all time favorite solos from him, just the way he put this together sounds soo badass and classical all at the same time! I dont think I will ever be even close to the level Yngwie Malmsteen was at back then.
I was one of those who incessantly asked for the cover of this masterpiece, and my thanks, master. You are awesome, I would love to hear your authorial compositions too! A big hug maestro!
Cesario Filho does a pretty amazing job as well... yngwie's mgmt blocked his far beyond the sun cover... it was arguably the best cover of that song I've ever heard. This guy is awesome too btw🤘🤩
I just keep being amazed at your Yngwie covers, Damn! This cover is even better than your other Yngwie covers. The attention to detail here is off the charts!! You even did the choked notes above the neck pickup at 2:58. Even every piece of vibrato - even with the whammy bar - are nailed completely. Bravo! If I recall correctly, the first demo that contains this song (that I know of) is from 1981, making Yngwie 17/18 at the time of the recording, amazing! It is cool to hear how he developed over time, in the Powerhouse demos, he sounds exactly like Blackmore. However, from 1981 onwards the Uli Jon Roth (with Scorpions as well as Electric Sun era) influence is so clear it isn't funny anymore. His style completely changed between 1978 and 1980 and onwards, it almost sounds like two different guitarists.
Thank you very much, great comment. There is so much interesting musical phrasing in the early Yngwie repertoire. As a small parallel to your historical comment on Yngwie, I'm always fascinated by the complete transformation of Uli Roth between '74 and '75. Listening to "Fly to the Rainbow" Uli was basically still doing standard pentatonic clichés. Zero classical influence. One year later, he is playing diatonic scales, arpeggios and violin-like phrasing. I always wonder what happened to him in those 12 months. Something must have triggered such a great transformation. I can't help but wonder if 74's Burn album, at least the classical title track, had any artistic influence or inspiration on Uli going into 1975 and In Trance.
You're right, and the best proof of this I think was in Tokyo tapes, where he used even exotic and oriental scales ,but fly to the Rainbow is a good album and he experimented with classical guitar and composed two masterpieces, far away & fly to the Rainbow intros
Outstanding cover my guy! I got to Yngwie in small venues mid to late 80's in his prime playing these masterpieces while running around the stage like a demon possessed!!!
This is incredible. Flawless playing, great Yngwie tone. And I'm glad that you have the volume up enough that we can hear YOUR guitar, and the original doesn't bleed through.
Sick! I can only imagine people hearing this when he released his first album back in 84, must have been insane! Great playing, I'd say that this one just might be one of his trickiest songs, there's something going on throughout, no pauses, no nothing, just an endless onslaught of ridiculous guitarplaying!
The pentagram necklace around Yngwie's neck ...that must be it?!!! The dragon coming out of a pit in the video for "I'll see the light tonight"...what?!!! Yes in 1984 I was 18yrs. old and I thought this speed on guitar had to be magic! There you have what I thought in 1984 after exposed to Yngwie. Dude burned everybody "ships"!!!
WoW! this popped up on my feed today looking for Yngwie covers. Im Blown Away, as everyone else. Definitely, one if not the best Yngwie covers on YT. Great playing and tone. Im itching for a Strat w/ DiMarzio's.
@@ClassicSoloSpotlight Yeah, it’s one beautiful guitar. (Although I don’t own one myself unfortunately) I mainly play a “1960’s reissue JV Modified Strat” that has the Gotoh Vitage Style Locking Tuners. Just love the Japanese craftsmanship and attention to detail, it feels and plays amazing.
This always reminded me of some of Uli jon Roths playing, also props for having the strat 'quack' in the sound, often missed in covers of these 80s neo classical shred songs. Amazing playing!
Malmsteeen, was the king,, still today, no one plays with the same attack and tone and melody .. like YJM did in his young days. very very fine cover here, love it,
i haven't seen any good evil eye cover, so it would be amazing to see u. You have the perfect timing a great vibrato and the talent to come up with that song!

I've never forgotten. they are masterpieces

Rising Force and Marching Out…. along with his work on Alcatrazz - is still ground-breaking, mind blowing stuff.

And this guy…sheesh. What a monster guitar player.
I've played for 30 years and never ceases to amaze me how someone could compose something like this on guitar.
And at the age of 18, no less. Malmsteen was and is pure, unadulterated genius.

One of the most underrated songs of Malmsteen.
