i know this might sound like a flex but it's a genuine struggle.. I can't aquire NORMAL fish. I've played so many games with timing or fishing mechanics that i genuinely don't know how to fish in any way but with an instant outcome :c

In telling anyone who watches this video, it works. My very first try I did exactly what he said, cover the screen and react to the light, I'm like "Fuck, God damnit...o shit...yoo it worked!!" Lol I thought I fucked it up till it said perfect, first try after watching.
This gives me ACNH flashbacks. Now I must face my past trauma: Ridiculously painful fishing that roundhouse kicks you like Chuck Norris if you as much as blink the wrong way.

Much easier way: simply look somewhere else on the screen, to the left or right. Your peripheral vision catches changes better than the center of your focus. And by not covering it with your hand, you can spot the fake ones easier.

my controller connects both with a USB cable and via blutooth.. which do you think is faster?
Always USB, but i play with bluetooth and i see almost no difference...

Any tips on button placement? I play on on the switch and my Use button is L2. I'm thinking of changing to a face button, which requires sliiightly force to press- but I don't want to mess up my muscle memory.
200 total, 0 legends. This is the ONLY prophecy I have incomplete. Is it possible I'm getting screwed by input lag, or is that a cope? I play while undocked or using a (wired) pro controller.
YESSS I got it on the very next run after watching this! I did get the Poseiden Legendary Fish boon in Tarturus, so I had about 10 fishing points in the run. It says it increases "odds of a point spawning by 20%", but I guess that's a flat bonus or something (like 10%(base)+20%(boon)=30% odds?) because it about tripled my nodes. Great for extra practice.
Got the perfect catch 3 attempts after changing use/catch to a face button instead of bumper... maybe that was all in my head, though?

Ah so that’s why I never get any normal fish…
For me I find the sight of the lure bobbing to be distracting so I close my eyes and immediately press the button when the sound occurs and about half of the time I get legendaries so I guess I am consistently pulling off perfect catches with only the sound queues…
I don’t think that I have THAT good reflexes so either people are not listening properly or something else is going on because the fake bob has a different sound than a real one, in other words you can tell when a real catch happens even before the lure goes underwater simply from the sound it makes. But whatever works I guess great video explaining the mechanics, I am sure it has helped other people.
note that sometimes u wont notice you miss a flash, (notoriously happened to me in greece too many times due tot he bright background at the end of final area, bright blue water) the rest will just be a fake bob with a "got away". in short, missing the "flsh" will not end the fishing sequence with a "got away" it will continue to fake bob(s) and then a "got away".

I am either doing it too good (most likely not), or that my controller is somehow glitching (which it has no such issues). But I try to do it, at times, as fast as possible and it doesn't even acknowledge the click 💔💔

I struggle with this
Here's an easier trick that relies on the sound cue. Bind the interact key (default E) to a mouse button before you fish. Keys on your keyboard are farther enough to delay the input. With the same reaction time, mouse clicks register faster.

I just bought the aquarium (new player too) from the contractor and it only shows how many fish you've caught. I wish it showed how many of each one you caught.
