  • Part 1 of testing the Lyman 475 gr Foster slug. My ‘camera man’ was at field day for his last day of school so y’all stuck with me. LOL! Remember, consistency in crimping is the key to accurate slugs!

These slugs are the only slugs I would consider shooting out of an old Ithaca Deerslayer, which originally had the length of the barrel bored out to Improved Modified (later to Improved Cylinder). Back in the day, foster slugs were of smaller diameter, and specialized slug barrels were constricted to fit these slugs. I'm glad Lyman still makes this mold, it's fantastic for the old Deerslayers and super accurate!

sawmaster 609 that’s a classic, for sure. I need to get on for my slug gun collection.

I am thinking of using thin cardboard instead of Mylar wrapping.

9mmpara I have a batch made up with heat shrink that I think will do quite well.

Science that sensei... “Sweating like 2 slaves”? Great line, that I won’t be using. Again, try patching with Tyvek, thicker than Mylar.

Drew Diaz I have two different sizes of Mylar wraps. One is thick, the other thin. Where you get sheets of tyvek from?
