I've always thought that she has the absolute best running style to watch hands down. She strides effortlessly and never looks like she's fighting the air
She doesn't just jump over the hurdles like so many others. She actually glides over them in stride. It almost always impresses me to watch her form and stride. A thing of beauty.
Two people to look out for ib the future as far as hurdles are Kennedy Smith and Mason Dosset🙂😎
She paces herself perfectly, does not rush anything, achieving optimal energy efficiency.
@@giffysstiffy8874giffytuck I’d add Femke Bol to that list! She’s a few months younger than Sydney, she’s been improving her speed (she just set a new WR for 400m indoors) and she’s improving her hurdles form (15 steps to 14 steps per hurdle) and she is the 2nd fastest in history in the 400H!
@@John-yo5sw You're correct l...have you looked up Mason Dossett?
Sydney McLaughlin vs Femke Bol will be the most epic event in Paris!!
Femke need to greatly improve and Sydney needs to have a bad race for it to even be interesting
Why do ppl act like this is close Bol has only been in the spotlight because Sidney vacated the throne due to no competition
Agree. It's easy to say Sydney is going to win but since 2022, Femke has improved a lot and Sydney has lost a year of competition. Really hard guess here
BOL is the golden girl until she loses.😊@@jaymula6660
Femke's 400 flat PR (49.17) was on an indoor track. she hasn't yet shown what she can do outdoors - I expect her to shave about a second off that time (long track is considerably easier to run than short track). It will most definitely be close. I would pick Femke to win the flat and Sydney to win the hurdles.
I was fortunate to be there to witness Sydney's incredible world record at the 2022 World Championships - the energy that rippled through the crowd was indescribable - collective awe. She left everything on the track and didn't get up for about 5 minutes. Truly sensational, I'll never forget it.
Femke Bol, Mason Dossett and Kennedy Smith are going to be world champions in the hurdles🙂🥳😎 Look them up
What an awesome experience. To be a part of history. Would love to visit Eugene one day.
Sub 50 for the 400 meter hurdles will be a record that rivals Bolt’s 100 meter record.
Running 50. In the 400M hurdles is already extraordinary
She probably won't go sub 51
@@Leonidas-eu9bbat all this year? Or season opener?
@@Leonidas-eu9bb she will
@@Leonidas-eu9bb but she might. You never know.
She is in my view the best 400 hurdler I have ever seen. This was my race in college and I know how gassed you can be in the final quarter of this race. She is amazing!
I would have preferred that she wrote a new story in the open 400 and have both gold medals in different games ... but it will certainly be a great show to see Femke bol against McLaughlins. My ultimate dream it will be for her to run both events
Gold medals in the open and the hurdles? It'd be foolish to attempt that, she'd be tired. Unless the events have a big gap between them like the 100 and 200. Even then it'd be too risky for an event that only happens every 4 years
@@user-ze3sg6ix1u Both medals meaning her 400 hurdles from Tokio and a new open 400 in Paris ... both events in the same Olympics will be crazy as you said, but dreaming is free, and if someone can do it it will be her
@@ismaelpedroza7918 oh true I see, yea I can see why that'd be a goal. Giving up that almost guaranteed Gold though is so difficult. Olympics are only every 4 years, if only the open 400 happened after the hurdles she'd probably do it
@@user-ze3sg6ix1u Well not necessarily. I looked up the schedule for US trails and the Olympics. She could EASILY do both at the US trails, the open 400 round 1 takes place 2 or 3 days AFTER the 400 hurdle finals. As for the Olympics, it would be "hard" but not too crazy. She would run 6 days straight but only 1 race a day. The only bad thing about that is the events alternate each day. So for ex: Aug 4th is Round 1 of the 400 hurdles, and Aug 5th is round 1 of the open 400.
@@playerschooljackson the trials are fine, but doing a race everyday while your competitors don't have to is really disadvantageous. Especially for a race that only happens every 4 years. If the Olympic schedule was like the trials I'd agree she should just do it
Another event where I want multiple people to win. Love Sydney and Femke.
LOL! What is the other or others?
@@aliciamcdonald7105 same event in the men side
Her 400m Hurdle WR is better than half the fields 400m PB's.
No shit Sherlock it's a world record!! The fastest 400m ever recorded.....are you slow?
@@Kei-to7vt I think you missed the point Watson lol! Sidney’s WR time in the 400 m hurdles is faster than most of the competitors’ PB times in the 400 m flat (no hurdles so their times should theoretically be faster).

@@Kei-to7vt I think you are. Read again.
From a marketing standpoint I say she stay with the 400mH and win another Olympic gold medal in that; your world record can be broken, but your Olympic title is forever. After the 2024 Olympics she can concentrate on the open 400m for the rest of the season, maybe mix up some 400mH with open 400m (and a few 200m?) in early 2025 to see what she can do in the 400m. Stay with the 400mh in the 2025 World Champs then use 2026 to concentrate on the 400m and see how far she can drop her PR., maybe switch to the open 400M for the 2027 WC and 2028 Olympics.
Who gives a hoot about the marketing standpoint
Such a shame that Dalilah due to injuries & age was never able to improve her 51.58 PB from Tokyo '21 :( Would've been amazing for the event if the 34yr old was 10yrs younger competing against the 24yr old Syd & Femke! 🤞 she makes her final Olympic 400mH Team @Trials & hopefully the podium in Paris. 5:38; Femke's 49.17 is her indoor PB/WR, her current outdoor 400m PB is 49.44.
A fan of DM, but you can't fight age. She's had a great career, but father time is undefeated. Wishing her the best this yr.
@@henrihelvetica5835 Would just be great to see her make the 400mH Team & get on the podium one more time.
@@AllInTheGame01 agreed. Just basing this off what I saw last yr. Would be a GREAT feat.
Thanks for pointing out that Femke Bol's OUTDOOR 400 meter dash PR is 49.44. This is still remarkably fast, but not the same race conditions as her Indoor WR of 49.17. Her outdoor time is what should be used in all comparisons to the other hurdlers and 400 runners.
@@Visionary0001 👍 Femke can/will run sub 49s outdoors if she focuses on it, but she's yet to do so.

She is the best to ever do it!
Excited about it!
We all want her to run both the hurdles and the 400m, both against Femke Bol! Now that would be one hell of an Olympic show! Go Sydney! 😀
She has no chance against Bol. Roy b, CapeTown south africa 🇿🇦
I love it. She took time off to work on increasing her flat speed now she will be able to re-work that into the hurdles. You know you can’t just increase your speed incrementally in hurdles without messing up your step timing and reworking that. I think this has been the plan all along… world record breaking 400 m hurdles and beating Bol at the Olympics.
Let's go, let's go, let's go!!!!
I was hoping Sydney would opt for the regular 400 meter instead of the hurdle race...
Femk Bol, Mason Dossett and Kennedy Smith are going to be world championship in the hurdles🙂😎🥳 Look them up
So was Bol and her team. 🤣 There's no telling what Kersee is up to, so I think folks should slow their roll. Sydney did say in 2022 that they thought she'd be able to go lower than 50.68, so why not give it a shot this year while she's still young. She's got plenty of years left to run the open 400. And who knows, maybe last season in the open 400 was just part of Kersee's overall plan to improve her speed to see how low she could take the 400mH record.
She owns Fem. I would prefer to see her race against those who can beat her. I think it would push her to be better.
@mikeacerbo Femke is the 2nd fastest all time. There is no one else that is capable of beating Sydney. It's her or no one.
@Reginaedwards Agree but I just don't think Fem will beat her. Plus I was excited to see Syd run the open 400.
Man did we miss her last year. Can’t wait to see her compete again.
I was hoping to see her in 400
Will she do both? I know she said no, but she also said she wouldn't be hurdling in the Olympics previously.
very exciting stuff - looking forward to the Paris competition!
It's not a competition when Sydney is there; it's a coronation.

Break 50.0 flat and then move on to the open 400m.
I mean, she has to race Olympic years to be qualified to defend. Otherwise, I agree.
Bol doesn’t have an outdoor 400 flat record, the 49,17 is indoor. So if you compare, do it right.
Would have been interesting to see what she can do in the 400 flat, but quite comprehensibly she plays it safe. Good to see Sydney run again after not showing up in 2023.

24+24=48 seconds flat...
Keep in mind that her 400 time isn’t even her in peak form. She only really ran a 300 and coasted the last 100. She’s got a lot left to give to this event.
Let's go, Sydney 111
I am ready to see them line up in the 400m.
Amazing..
I love how humble Sydney is. At 24 years old, she's still a kid...a very mature "kid". I hope, for us all, that she will be able to grace the tracks with her presence for many, many years and continues to set new records and standards.
McLaughlin vs Boll should be epic as hell, but I hope she will return to flat 400m after that.
She will dominate and run a sub 50.5 400 meter hurdle race.
Cant wait for Femke and Sydney to meet
La will be her vs Anna Cockrell and Mohammed
Syd can run a sub 53 in her 1st race back
Looking forward to this race. When do we see her run a full season. Can someone explain to me why she was away for more than a year. It makes me wondering...
Her WR is so insane….i think her strategies to go 400m flat get speed and comeback is the perfect formula to rise the bar 🚀🚀 sub 50 in Paris?
When is her first 400m Hurdle race this year?
May 18th LA Grand Prix
Syd did ....at barely 20yo in 2019....a 52.23, not 52.32.
Dalilah only held her off by 0.07 and was lucky she was stll with Joanna instead of Bobby; he would've coached her to put the hammer down sooner.
If Femke Bol can run 49.2 indoors then she definitely has sub 49 speed outdoors to rival McLaughlin's 48.7

She's getting the WR.

49.6 repeat Olympic goal world goal
I know that Femke has been doing very well over 2023, still 49.6 seems a bit overly optimistic!
MEH. I have high hopes for Britton Wilson (depending on what she runs). This is all interesting because the talk out of SYD's camp once was that the 400mh was behind her, and she was off to conquer new distances. Edwin Moses dominated 400mh. almost 10yrs undefeated. I'm not putting SYD in that camp, yet. I'm looking fwd to USAs.
Syd's so young ... maybe she's got an outside shot at Moses undefeated streak but just think how durable an athlete would need to be to go 10 years without a defeat. Not sure that's achievable today. Looking forward to watching her take on Bol.
I believe Sydney can run a low 48 for the 400 which makes her nearly untouchable. If she returns to her top form, she will be as dominant as ever. Go Sydney!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sydney will not disappoint.
Wow Brillant, Femke and Sydney, what a clash, surely a world record on the cards.
I wouldn't care if she was kayaking, I'm tuning in!!!
Really wanted to see her go after the 400 flat record
Her physique is almost divine.
This and the mens 200m will be awesome!
As we look closer to the Olympics, we may see a 49.66 in the hurdles…
In Europe, Femke Bol is considered the person to beat. Consider, however, Syd has been dominant for going on five years in the open and hurdles. Phenomenal. She obviously is not getting back in unless she thinks she can win. Would be epic to see McLaughlin, Bol, and Muhammad on the track in the final.
The problem is, you have to enter a race for people to be able to beat them. McLaughlin's long absence has meant that Bol has been de facto the woman to beat, simply because she's clearly the best athlete that's been competing.
I really don't understand so many people hyping Muhammad though - she was the best a few years ago, but she has been noticeably on the wind-down since Tokyo and didn't make the final in Budapest. Shamier Little has been comfortably the second best US women's 400mh runner the last two seasons.
400MH champion again at Paris and then set after the 400m open world record during the Diamond League. $$$$$$$
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RUN SYDNEY RUN. The best ever. Praying for you. God made you to glorify Him and you are doing It. Bol is about to experience reality.!!!
God is really on her side 😆 doesn’t have to make sense to other people. She knows the assignment 🫡
That's where Mclaughlin suppose to be I DONT KNOW WHO WOULD ADVISE HER NOT TO GET MORE TITLES in 400m hurdles for that would make it so hard for someone els to surpass her ... ... remember it's not world record alone which make you great ... ... and femke bol is on the big jump level.
Why include indoor 400 times
Bc her indoor is faster than outdoor so it’s the best he has to go off of🤣
Take a shot whenever bro says "of all time" lmao
femke's 49.17 was indoor.
I get amused when people mention Bol next to SM. SM is going sub 50 in the hurdles
And Bol is going further below the 50...
Las Angeles? Las?
It's true that's she not been beaten in 400h since 2019. It's also true that she's only run 7 finals in that event since 2019 🤷🏾♂️
Maybe the pivot to the 400 was all just training to get sub 50 in the 400 hurtles all along...
Dang! I thought from the title that she had run another race.
Is she also set to run the open 400? Either in this race or in the future?
McLaughlin will go under 50 seconds in the 400 hurdles and set a world record in the 400 m
I know it's not running related, but she is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen... plus amazingly talented! How she in not sponsored by everything blows my mind!

Keep dreamin bro. If you keep going like this soon mrs McLaughlin will be faster on the hurdles than the current WR on the flat...
Would love to see her win, but gradually work up to world champion status, peaking for the Paris Olympics ! 7:40

Her return to the 400h is great news, but her current time during training is a mystery. Sure hope she can win the gold and shave a bit off her own world record. Go, Sydney!
Though I think McLaughlin will come out on top in hurdles in Paris it’s not a given to beat Bol who has improved significantly since they last met.
Sydney’s chances would be better in 400m flat with no Femke.

But people don't change when they step inside or outside of a hall. So if Bol can break Kratochovilova's WR indoor she can also break Kratochvilova's WR outdoor. And 47.99 - 0.42 = .... Right. What does this have to do with current events in the track world????
When will you do a video on Drew Griffith of Butler who is doing amazing things in HS? He just ran a 4 flat full mile in track.
so what happen to her 400M?
Personally think it was used to better her 400mH in terms of speed. Her technique is already close to flawless the way she glides over. Also, 2x Olympic champion sounds pretty good. At 25, she’ll have a whole other Olympics to try and win in the 400m. By that time Shaunae Miller-Uibo will probably be retired.
Also, it’s just a season opener. No one knows her plan for Paris. I think she always likes to keep people wondering
Does this mean everyone will finally stop acting like Femke Bol invented sliced bread? People have been acting like they didn't notice that whatever Bol's fastest time is - Sydney's fastest time is a half second ore more faster. Bol would still be running 15 steps between hurdles if Bobby Kersee hadn't changed Sydney to 14. And Bol didn't even thank him for the tip on how to run the hurdles faster. 🤣

Break 50 in the 400mH this year, then I want to see what kind of 800m and 1500m times she could run, maybe a 3000m steeplechase. Sydney looks like she could be a finalist and challenge records in all of these events - that would really make her a legendary runner.
Femke's 49.17 was indoor. She's at least a .4 faster outdoors.
According to World Athletics 49.17 on an indoor short track is comparable to 48.36 on an outdoor 400 meter track. And actually there are good reasons to say that that is still underestimate of the real power of that short track 49.17.

I'm American and I already biased and I only cheered and routed for my own country USA!!! Sydney has competed the 4×100m dash called Formula Kersee and received second 🥈 place with the top seed international ( three were NCAA champions except for Dina Asher Smith: names were Julien Alfred, Ireland and Jamaican sprinters) and Formula Keree's team time was 12:93 to 12:03 so if she is ready to compete now for the 400m dash and 400m hurdles than her coaches, doctors and support team of family and friends think 🤔 that she is READY to punch her ticket to Park for the Olympics and represent USA and injury is no joke; she must be injury free: little Muhammad was injured and had COVID-19 and she is making progress also so US track and field trials are going to be INSANE and I can't wait but Los Angeles is just another practice to begin her quest for the Paris Olympics and she is probably working on consistency and being injured free (healthy) and I don't think 🤔 that she would be doing her best time yet: I think 🤔 that it is gradual! Thanks for sharing though!!!
It’s really interesting (and entertaining lol) to read everyone’s comments about Sydney vs Femke (Bol)!!!
No doubt about it, Sydney was phenomenal in 2020-2023 before she was injured! Although she has announced that she’ll be competing in the 400h, that’s no guarantee that she will run the 400h in Paris…she’s leaving her options open. It’s nearly certain that she WON’T run in both the 400m & the 400h since it would tire her out considerably and reduce her chances of a gold
medal in either. I like one person’s comment that Sydney might try to get a gold medal in the 400m in order to distinguish her as the only athlete to win an Olympic gold medal in both events even if it’s in different Olympic games.
Regarding those that have stated that Sydney is basically a sure thing to take gold in Paris for the 400h…you better think twice! I’d give Femke Bol 50-50 odds of beating Sydney for the following reasons:
1. Femke is a few months younger that Sydney and hasn’t reached her peak yet.
2. She started running the 400h at an older age than Sydney and is still improving her technique (just recently running 14 steps per hurdle instead of 15)
3. Femke has also been improving her speed & stamina (she set and twice broke her own indoor record in the 400m 49.16)
4. Femke is lazer-focused on only running while Sydney has been distracted writing & promoting her new book, designing and promoting her line of New Balance running attire, and making speaking engagements & talk show appearances.
5. Femke has been consistently injury free while Sydney missed most of the 2023 outdoor season and is understandably rusty.
Both women are incredible athletes, as well as human beings, and it will be awesome to see them compete in Paris!
Sydney is just naturally extremely gifted 😭 it’s crazy. I feel like Bol has to work much harder to reach Sydney’s 85% effort. I actually enjoy the fact that track is not the totality of her life. Just a platform for her to achieve her bigger mission 🤩 hoping they both stay healthy & keep enjoying the sport as long as they desire 🏃♀️
Femke bol is currently on another level. It’s going to be very interesting
True, but Femke's current level is a step below where Sydney has already been. What makes it really interesting as Bol continues to improve this season is whether Sydney can get back to her 2022 form (or better) because it will likely take a new WR to win in Paris.
