Ann (singer) was often referred to as "THE VOICE". Also, it's important to note this was written in response to a pig of a rado executive who made a crude, sick comment about the sisters. Ann wrote the lyrics to basically call him out for being a low life piece of scum. She used the barracuda because they are fish that hide in the back alleys of the sea (coral or seaweed) because they can't be out in the open and then attack their prey viciously - just as the so executive did to Ann and Nancy. They got the last laugh as this iconic song became one of their most iconic hits and that's saying something since they have quite a few mega hits. This is a great rock band that started in the 70's. Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. They have had so many great hits such as "Crazy on You", "Magic Man", "What About Love", "Never", "Dog & Butterfly", "These Dreams", "Alone" etc. In 2012 Ann & Nancy performed at the Kennedy Center Honors in a tribute to Led Zeppelin doing their classic song "Stairway To Heaven".

Ann Wilson is one of the best rock vocalists of all time. Not just female rock vocalist, rock vocalist. She said she wrote this song because an executive with the label wanted to get more publicity because he did not think that a woman fronted rock band would ever work, let alone be successful. He wanted to tell the media that Ann and Nancy were in an inc*stual relationship together. It, rightfully, pissed Ann and Nancy off so this song is a result. Boy did that guy end up eating his nasty words. Especially in 2013 when Heart got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.😂
She came straight of the gate with a fantastic rock voice. Thing is, she got even better. And better. Their Stairway To Heaven performance is stunning.

You must find their tribute performance at the Kennedy Center in 2018 (the sisters are older & still kicking ass). They do Led Zepplin's 'Stairway to heaven' & it brings Led Zepplin to tears. Frigging amazing performance. Heart is the best girl rock band ever, as far as I'm concerned. They have tons of hits, like 'Alone' & 'Magic Man' for starters. Ann Wilson is the singer & her sister Nancy is killing the guitar. Love these gals.
I'm sure others will say that yet they had a whole lot more hits. And they were so cool. There's just something about them, there weren't that many female rockers at the time. And they really move the ball forward.

They were great live, awesome musicians...but yes, I think this was the studio recording over a live video. And not a one hit wonder band! They have many great songs...check out Crazy on You, Straight On, Even It Up.

Best female rock band ever
I went to see April Wine in concert in 2975 and surprisingly Heart was the cover band. It was a great concert and I loved Heart ever since. April Wine was awesome as always. You will enjoy the Heart rabbit hole.
You need to react to the live performance of Heart with Anne Wilson (the lead singer of Heart) doing Led Zeppelins “Stairway To Heaven” when Led Zeppelin were honoured at “The Kennedy Centre Honours”. A brilliant performance & Anne can sing her heart out & of course her sister Nancy is also there playing her guitar awesomely.

They do sound great live. There is a version of this video with the original live track out there, but I'm guessing the record company wanted perfection so this version exists. Crazy On You live in 1977 is a great one to do next

Heart was my daughter's first concert Michael Bolton opened 🙄😂 and I guess technically my son's too considering I was pregnant with him. Drove from New Hampshire to Rhode Island just to catch that concert 🙌
The "galloping horse" beat of this song was inspired by the great Led Zeppelin song "Achilles Last Stand". Both bands have been great friends over the years.

The sisters are still doing concerts almost 50 years later. Ann still has an amazing voice. Look for the long version of Crazy On You where Nancy does a great intro on acoustic guitar. She does lead vocals on These Dreams as well. It's a deep rabbit hole!
They're still working, but I don't think together. They had a falling out in 2016, reunited for a tour in 2019, but have been working separately since then.
@@DashcamRiprockthey are currently touring together right now in 2024 so they worked things out and are back together they still kick ass live I have seen fans posting from the live shows on UA-cam just look for heart live 2024 by the way they are in their 70s now and still sound great
Ann is the greatest female rock singer there is imo, there's tons of female rock singers out there but none catch match Ann's voice. I've seen Heart many times and also Ann when she did her solo thing and everytime the concert is outstanding. These ladies have paid their dues and that's why they are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

this was actually a live version (there were no music videos made then), but the audio that goes with the original gets really wonky right at the end. I've heard it, and her voice is absolutely spot on (one of those bands that is actually even better live), but someone replaced the original audio with the studio version since the timing was so close.

A very talented duo. Ann’s voice amazing was 13 when I discovered my love of Rock an Heart was at the top of the bands I admired. The Runaways another all female band who had great artists Lita Ford an Joan Jet. Was especially hard back then to break into the music industry an even harder for women.

I saw them Saturday, August 11, 1979 at Aloha Stadium, Hawaii. It was a bittersweet concert. The opening act was The Beach Boys and honestly... they sucked. They had equipment problems and the audience filled in the missing high parts of the songs. It would have been comical if not so sad. Then Heart came on and blew the stadium away. They sounded like it was their studio performance. It was just that good. About the only thing I remember otherwise is the sunburns. I was a submariner and we had just come back from a 3 month patrol where we did not see the sun at all. We were all pasty white. At least I wore a long sleeved shirt, but my friends and crewmates wore shorts and flipflops. Everyone ended up lobster red and sicker than dogs that night. It was still a magical day though.
First concert I saw in 1982 at the Hemisfair Arena in San Antonio, TX. Awesome show.

This was written about some record executives from Mushroom Records, who thought Heart's record would sell better if they spread ugly, false rumors about the sisters having a sexual relationship. They went out of business. Heart is still with us.

My favorite band ❤ so many hits ❤ This was a live performance but I've heard a version that didn't age well so they've laid the studio track over the live. That's how amazing they are...it matches almost all the time. Lots of people don't catch that. And Ann & Nancy's boyfriends were the guitar & bass players. Magic Man is about Ann's boyfriend. I love Ann& Nancy's sound...they both play and sing! Love hanging out with you...fun, thanks for doing this!! ❤
I saw Heart in the 70s. They were killer live.
About 15 years ago they played near where I live. Unfortunately I found out about it to late and had to miss out. So they were still performing then.

This was really before music videos. There were some but not many. MTV didn’t come along until 82.
