Great video - and SUCH a great reminder to make some time and space to recharge! Love the feel of the photos from Perth and surrounds - so different from he east. I always look forward your videos, they always make me stop and think.
Hashem, this might be your most soul-stirring video yet. Thanks for putting it out there. Gratitude, man, it’s a tricky, beautiful thing. Your raw honesty, your vulnerability, it’s a gift. And yeah, sometimes you’ve got to pull the plug and step back, especially when one chapter slams shut and a new one creaks open. I get it. Last year, I lost my mum and grandma within eight weeks of each other. It hit like a freight train. So I did the only thing I could, I packed a bag and disappeared into the chaos of Kuala Lumpur. Sometimes, you’ve got to find yourself in the disconnection. Keep doing what you’re doing, legend. The world needs more of this kind of realness. Hope we can catch up at some point in 2025!
Loved the vlog! So sad about the doggo I know how it feels and it’s hard. Also with your break up, take it easy on yourself and keep moving forward with your positive attitude, new and good adventures in your life will come.
I really liked today’s video. Aimee, Alex and the Silver Halide team have been an instrumental part of Perth’s film community; accessible community exhibitions, workshops like learning how to develop blacks done white, learning to develop with coffee, hosting photo events (they’ve even hosted me to shoot pet portraits). I can’t wait to see what they do next. Bud was a huge part of the lab and will be missed by so many, rest easy buddy. ❤
Your most moving video yet, Hashem. Thanks for sharing it. Talking about gratitude, thanks for your honest vulnerability, the more real dipiction of life (narrated beautifully), and the care you have in including others/fostering a greater sense of community. Definitely think you are on to something with this format, and something that felt like it reached out to the viewer differently to others I'd seen before. Maybe a nod to your own personal shedding and recent big life changes. Much love, talk soon.
Thanks for sharing an important message on making time to think and process, taking stock of what you’re grateful for. Appreciate you sharing about your personal life and sorry to hear you’re going through a tough time. One door closing is another one opening they say. Keep that positive outlook and stay connected to your support network during this season of change. Look forward to catching up soon😊 Labs are a huge part of any film community so it’s awesome to see Silver Halide innovating and being environmentally conscious. RIP Bud😢
P.S. Glad you had an interview at the new film lab there. They look like great people who are making a success of their business. So sorry to hear about the beautiful shepherd there. Glad you told us. Take care.
Ooof, watching this after being woken up by a semi-bizarre dream prob wasnt the best, but your message hit home: gratitude, reflection, accepting loss...thanks for being vulnerable and open at a time when the typical reaction might be to internalise, retreat and mask. Good to see you also have a healthy support network to lean through this time of change, and 100% agree that 12 years is too damn short. Our sassy tortie is over 14, but I am assuming (hoping) she'll stick around a while longer just through sheer will 😅 take care and keep telling and sharing yours and peoples stories 👍
That unexpectedly made me teary. I'm really am sorry Hashim, that's a rough thing to go through. I'm glad you have support during this time of change. I feel like the end of 2024 was challenging for a lot of people. I lost one of my best friends to cancer and my family dog passed away very recently also. Staying creative as an output can be really cathartic during hard times. *SUMO HUGS* to you friend.
Thanks a million for that one. I haven't had a dog since our last one died in Perth back in the day, hurt too much. I still choke up every time I see a Kelpie. Loved seeing the Perth footage. I think I have to make a return visit to see if any of what i remember still exists. Hope everything is getting a little brighter each day on your end. Survive and thrive in 25.
Love this thoughtful video, Hashem. Glad you went back to home base last November. You needed a recharge. Family is very important even when you’re not going through a rough time. I’m glad you went anyway. I love your home town of Perth. As you said, a big change from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne. Hope you are better each day. All the best to you. 🤝
I had a breakup a few months ago from my high school sweetheart and I know how hard it is to accept and deal with the massive change. I hope you’re doing well mentally and taking time to focus on your wellbeing. Love the vlog and the narration 👍🏾
Sorry to hear about your loss Hashem. Documenting your life, your experiences, regardless of the ups or downs is a good reminder for the self and for others to always stay grounded and grateful for our time on earth. That being said, it was definitely the smoothest save off a fuel pump I've seen in a minute xD
Really interesting and thoughtful video, the mini Meetup was great and I enjoyed meeting everyone. The team at Silver Halide are fantastic, back when I was shooting digital I started following them, watching the community they built etc was a part of the inspiration for me to pickup film again. Rip Budda, I will miss seeing you at the lab ❤
Loved this episode mate. As a film shooter and ex-police dog handler, I can relate to losing Budda. I've lost four military working dogs during my time in the Defence Force. I'm shooting medium format on the most part now. Long live film !!

RIP Bud, I loved seeing him every time I dropped off some rolls at the lab ♥
