@@EternalNightingale The second game is about 10 months after the ending of Miles Morales, which was in December. So SM2 takes place during October/November (again). So I get wanting to see more autumn vibes
Having finished sm1 and mm multiple times and almoat finished sm2 i am often blown away by how beautiful sm2 really is. Traffic density is much higher which makes it feel more real, lighting is brighter and more realistic and the city feels alive, much more so than the originals. The queens and brooklyn sections are my new favourites, so beautiful. Loving this game.
Peter looks so much better now. He actually looks strong and pretty built outside of the suit finally. Actually looks like he’s in his 20s now too. Good job insomniac.
Funny thing is I still like first Spider-man's artstyle and graphics. But I am pretty sure once I experience Spider-man 2's realistic art style I will love it. But glad to see 1 holds up really well!
I get exactly what you mean. It’s like sharper and brighter but I think once having the game in hand I’ll like 2. But for instance I like the leaves in 1 more, the movements look smoother, the actual road looks a little more beat up. But the actual texturing, reflections, contrast and reflections definitely are a step up in 2, I think it’ll just take a second to get used to 👍
I'll be honest i feel the exact other way around. While better lit, SM2 looks more vibrant and at times even a lil more cartoony? While SM1 generally looks a bit more washed out / overexposed / harsher. Personally I think that vibrant look of SM2 works better for a superhero game like Spidey
This is a great video! I like the texture quality of the roads and city in the remaster better but I feel it looks better while swinging in the second one which is kind of neat. Is there a high frame rate mode and are you going to do a graphics comparison for the different graphic modes in Spiderman 2?
Spider man 2 is definitely improved in terms of quality, textures, lighting and even the water .... I hope to see Peter doing his stuff and he hears sirens so he goes in to the alley to change the costume and chases the bad guys
They clearly stole water graphical fidelity from watch dogs 1 and copied it. It's so sad to behold, how game that came out and released 9 years ago had better graphical water quality than clueless shill snoy fanboys next gen game. One more reason why Quality matters over Quantity kids.
I really love more defined three pixels in the upper left corner of Spiderman 2, Wow, such a huge upgrade, literally day and night difference ! These two games look so different when you look at them side by side ! I've never seen such a huge graphical upgrade from generation to generation like ..ever ! Those three ray traced pixels are so advanced and so different, OMG ! Those three ray traced pixels make all the difference ! Such a huge difference and so much innovations ! Not a single asset or animation re-used from a previous game, this game is indeed the definition of NEXT GEN !
@@tahaarslan4345 Why ? Can't you notice how much better those pixels look in spiderman 2 ? I know youtube compression doesn't do them justice and you have to see them in 16k up close to really appriciate the difference ! Now you can see generational differences only up close at 16k, 1080p isn't enough any more. At 1080p they look almost the same, but you should not be fooled. spiderman 2 has 100 times the spiderman 1 detail, it's just not visible at 1080p.
I like more SM1 artstyle: Warm tones with some Green tint, a huge contrast with deep shadows and bright lights, and more vivid colors. SM2 has a flat artstyle, more balanced, with a low contrast, more balanced color temperature, a bit of violent tint, some washed colors and textures, and a clean vision of elements, really clean and balanced. But, for me, it’s too flat. SM1 more contrasty artstyle I think it’s nicer.
@@Dachin55555SM1 spiderman looks way better. The fabric and muscles have more personality. SM2 colors are too washed out, idk, but I prefer 1 better. Enviorment textures look nicer in 2 though. But too much realism sometimes kills the inagination
Remembering how it was before, the graphics seemed to be on a completely different, previously unprecedented level. Using the example of Half life 1998 and Half live 2 2004. Where there was not only mind-blowing graphics but also a new version of the engine with cool physics and destruction. Now there are 5 whole years between these games, and we are looking for differences with a magnifying glass, analyzing the picture pixel by pixel. Still, progress has slowed down greatly and this is very sad
Exactly what I thought. People forget that most of the quality isn’t dependent on computing power not on effort and hard work behind animations (motion capture and stuff) and character models and especially facial animations. Regarding this nothing has changed from SMPS4 to SM2 ... everything feels inhumanly and artificial compared to titles like TLOU.
I think we have reached a point where it is hard to improve graphics, even Unreal Engine 5, which is supposed to be a next gen engine, still ain’t that different from UE4. Maybe we can, but it would take DECADES to do since games aren’t as simple as before, now games are 20 times more complex than how they were 10 to 20 years ago. That’s why GTA 6 is taking too long to make, we have to tools to make it, it’s just that the game will have so many complex mechanics that it takes a decade and a half to develop, even for a top tier AAA studio like Rockstar Games. Think of it as in going from wood to stone to iron to diamond and to netherite tools in Minecraft, it gets harder and lengthier as you go forward in complexity, it’s simple to understand.
Phones, TVs, cars, graphics cards, and many other things aren’t that far apart from each other anymore for the same reason, we have reached a peak of how good they can be, and for we to improve them we will take a longer time than ever before.
I would love to see a Seasonal mechanic system implemented in the game depending on when you play the game. Like AC Valhalla had. That would really give the game depth.
Ac Valhalla never had a season change, it had snow in Norway and a bit of spring/autumn in England, yes it had updates for Xmas and Easter, but they were just for the camp
This maybe a unpopular opinion, but I feel like the first game's graphics feels more "realistic",kinda like it more ngl, i think they were going with a more artistic"tone with the second one with is still great if you're into that visual aspect.
If anything it looks more artistic in the first game because every detail is to make it look great, in the second game proper realism was taken into account and now it all looks somewhat flat.
wow I mean SM1 looks really good, but SM2 is just stunning. Definitely an upgrade in every-way. It's crazy how close to reality the sequel looks. And the depth of field alone is fire. 7:30
A thing that has always bothered me in Spider-Man games was the lack of environment. Essentially not enough people and cars but the new Spider-Man game makes it more realistic but still can use a bit more people but understandable since it’s probably the most the ps5 can handle and wish buildings were taller but that’s just me either way game looks amazing
en el tamaño de los edificios te doy la razón , siempre se me viene a la cabeza la caída de Andrew en TASM1 en la última torre donde vence al Lagarto y la altura era increíble... sé que no tiene que ver pero me gustaría esa sensación
I think it's an improvement on every front, yet I cannot say I like the shadow intensity in the sequel. While originally part out of necessity (I think), I feel the darkness of the shadows in the original helped create a more graphic look to the world, which really worked in the game's favour
I wish there was like a cinematic mode where spider would free swing and parkour everywhere without a real goal, and you just watch him in all povs and you could just leave it running on your ps5
@@Joyoboyogomu in watchdogs legion, I’ll let the car drive itself while I eat food in real time. I get a tour of London every time. Would be cool to see it in a Spider-Man game.
@@AnyoutlawI’m sure you can, both the first game and miles morales allowed for this, I’m sure they will do the same for this game. Mostly after story completion
@@reborngreatnesss5712 in previous games you couldn’t through the main story. But after it was all good. I’ll find it weird they won’t give you the option to select it. But I guess we will see :)
There are a lot more visual improvements than I original thought. Obviously the lighting is massively improved, but also everything seems to have more detail. I notice many buildings look much better, the grass also stuck out to me as looking much improved. Many of the textures look better, such as the ones used for roads and sidewalks.
As a whole, I honestly prefer the first game. More innovation, more gadgets, and not as cluttered. It’s also arguable the first game offers a better plot, better personal conflicts, and benefits from the fact that you focus mostly on only one character rather than two (which helps making the game less messy. There’s a reason why long story-based games that feature more than one playable character are rare) :/
Hold on back up. First of all thank you for showing us this. Second, is that Peter Parker‘s house? Cool, finally we can have a proper home in a Spider-Man game. It bummed me out that we couldn’t see Peter Parker’s apartment in the first game. Hopefully we can go in there anytime we want and interact with some items in the house.
Amount of pedestrians seem to be about the same but seeing Spider-Man stand on the street in the first game no one is moving they're standing there watching him even people half way down the street are focused on Spider-Man and then in 2 pedestrians seem to be going about their business. Traffic definitely feels more lively in 2.
There seems to be two different tvs and settings for each game. Spider man 2 footage looks like it was shot while it was playing on a Samsung TV and the remastered Spider man 1 footage is on a Sony tv. Also the contrast and brightness settings on tv showing SM2 are too high. I used to sell tvs and knew the difference in manufacturers TVs by the color they displayed when showing grass scenes. No matter what you did to color adjustment, Samsung TVs always showed grass and trees a certain way which is leads me to believe that is what’s going on here.
They just have different pictures. Samsungs tend to overly emphasize the greens in grass and trees. Sony's tend to be really sharp and colors are vivid when the contrast is high and the backlight is lower. @@AaaYoussef
Looks unreal when still, but in motion still has a long way to go feel different to even ps2 or ps3 level of games, when swinging through the trees it has no effect on Spider-Man velocity, no change in swing speed, no getting slightly caught by a branch, no leaves dropping or sticking to his suit for a second, no leaves flying all over the place or birds being disturbed, nests falling, it's like the trees aren't there. He is swinging through those trees at incredible speeds, it would disturb everything. We got a few games in the 2000s trying to fix those issues and then that kind of stuff vanished and things got more basic again. Maybe on PS6 etc we might get true-physics games
Im shaking and simping over how beautiful this game is this is truely the spiderman game we all need as spiderman fans cant wait to grab my hands on this game
I have a question, can you please answer. Does the bug where you clip into pedestrians when running along the sidewalk still occur like in the first game? Things like that kinda breaks my immersion. There should be a system where pedestrian ai can detect the player about to run near them and they automatically move out the way so issues like that wont happen.
@@ThaCosmonaut I'm no game developer but theres games that has had systems like this, like in street racing games that doesnt allow you to hit pedestrians. I think driver on ps1 had this if I'm remembering correctly.
2:28 the pedestrians clip through each other but maybe its different when the player hits them, i know in miles morales you can at least bump into them instead of just going through
@@edwin99901 those are also game very focused on those interactions and being on the ground. Since most of the time you’ll be swinging I’m sure they allocated most of their time to that stuff. My guess at least
I think the first Spider-Man looks better.. but I guess we have to wait for a few months for them to update the game, it seems to be how it works with todays games.
its crazy that Insomniac found a way to optimize the PS5 to the point where RT isnt even needed to be turned off even in 4K 60 FPS mode where as Bethesda locked Starfield at 30 FPS on the Series X which on paper is more powerful than the PS5. Passion matters.
No it's not as if Insomniac optimize the Ps5 for Raytracing to not be turned off. It's that if there was a non-ray trace option, it would be too expensive. It's actually much cheaper to do that then have a totally seperate lightning system. In essence, unlike most games the game is one of the few games that was created with Ray Tracing in mind from inception. So creating a bake lightning model would literally be a waste of a time.
@@Dachin55555 It's the same graphics if you are a sane human being. If you are an insane fan, yeah you start to see some shit regular people don't see there.
Honestly, I think that with some clever post processing, you can make the original look about the same as 2. The new game looks really cool, but it kinda falls into the "graphics uncanny valley" for me - it looks so close to photorealism, yet something about the colors feels wrong. I think the original is better in that regard.
I thought the same about the first game on release, its just because we’re not used to seeing this level of fidelity. In 10 years once new stuff is out, this game won’t feel like that I promise
They did exactly what other large gaming companies fail to do. Which is not touching it ain’t broken, and the things they could improve up they did. Very jealous as an Xbox player but happy that some big name studios still give a shit about their product.
@@GamerInVoid Done Bro! 😁 & If you like "Dino Crisis 2" please support Rex-HD project by Solidfiregaming to make it reality. I really want to play it. Thanks
New one isn't brighter it's just more realistic, the Remaster has this cinematic film look with hard contrasts that makes no sense for a game that you want to feel real. But one can always prefer that instead:)
idk why everyone saying 1 is better then 2 but in my opinion 2 is better bc it has new moves like slingshot, web wings, webline, new gadgets, new finishers, new combat, water surfing, swimming, blocking attacks, all new playable characters, switching characters between peter and miles and all new suits idc if 2 is lighter but its better
Looks like mainly an overhaul to global illumination (and shadows therefore), with some changes in color reproduction and a slightly wider fov maybe (can you confirm the fov is same/different). They might have per pixel motion blur, either way it looks nice on the new game
The first suit looks much better, apart from it being orange. Darker blue looks nicer and there's more details. I'm guessing you get access to the first games suit anyway? A shame the swinging system is the same, OG Spider-Man 2 still the best. But overall both games look quite similar, the 2nd just looks different somehow. First looks a bit too dark and second looks too bright, looks a bit cartoonish.
Peter looks so weird. What's up with his neck?? His body is too muscular now. Spider man should look light, fast and agile, like a real spider. And now he looks more like Hulk type of hero. SM1 strikes ideal balance between being thin and muscular at the same time. I also like the suit colors of the first game. Darker blue is just nice. Other than that, I think the sequel is better in every way.
The density of a city looks much better in SM2, but it seems that the level of graphics has dropped. Structures, lighting, colors and character and some environmental details looks way better in first game.
Disappointed that the combat and swinging are the same, down to the animations, the combat and swinging in the original weren't satisfying enough, they both felt somewhat on rails
I'll tell you what's "high fidelity", that Spider Cake! "Damn boy! He thick!" Jokes aside this game is a big step up in the texture and lighting. Especially the lighting. Softer more natural looking shadows. The RT looks fantastic, especially the changes in water. Still water in puddles are more mirror-like than the choppy bigger bodies of water.
Texture change is actually almost a little worse in the new one when it comes to the faces and skin, but the lighting and ray-tracing on everything in sm2 seems to have been MASSIVELY overhauled. Absolutely gorgeous. Can’t fucking wait to play.

Having finished sm1 and mm multiple times and almoat finished sm2 i am often blown away by how beautiful sm2 really is.

Is that a joke?
@@tahaarslan4345 Why ? Can't you notice how much better those pixels look in spiderman 2 ? I know youtube compression doesn't do them justice and you have to see them in 16k up close to really appriciate the difference !

Exactly bro times have changed half life 2 still looks good, yet nobody is pointing this out
First real observation unlike the rest who just like the game cuz its new, fan bois dont see the difference.
That would really give the game depth.
what? in valhala two maps - Norway (snow) and England (autumn), was there anything with the change of season?
Ac Valhalla never had a season change, it had snow in Norway and a bit of spring/autumn in England, yes it had updates for Xmas and Easter, but they were just for the camp

Spider-man 2 looks slightly different from remastered but not necessarily better. For eg, the terrain quality is clearly superior on remastered.

I’m just gonna say it. It still looks like cartoon and no significant graphical changes at all between the two games.
Do you mean samsung or sony have better picture?
I have samsung 4k uhd tv and want to upgrade
Maybe on PS6 etc we might get true-physics games

its crazy that Insomniac found a way to optimize the PS5 to the point where RT isnt even needed to be turned off even in 4K 60 FPS mode where as Bethesda locked Starfield at 30 FPS on the Series X which on paper is more powerful than the PS5. Passion matters.
The graphics look the same so it ain't a surprise
No it's not as if Insomniac optimize the Ps5 for Raytracing to not be turned off. It's that if there was a non-ray trace option, it would be too expensive. It's actually much cheaper to do that then have a totally seperate lightning system. In essence, unlike most games the game is one of the few games that was created with Ray Tracing in mind from inception. So creating a bake lightning model would literally be a waste of a time.
