    You forgot the most important part Louisiana Grill has a true PID controller whereas Traeger does not which means the Louisiana Grill will hold the temperature within plus or -5° and the Traeger will vary up to around 35°

    I’ve owned 2 tragers and after a year and consistently had failures with the electronic boards. Since I went with the Louisiana brand I’ve not had a problem at all. Works great, consistent temps and even cooking throughout.
    Buy one, you won’t be disappointed !

    The LG has coated cast iron grates, big plus. The lg also is powder coated like all other grills.
    I've also gotten maybe a 5degree difference across the entire grill on the lg.

    Just got the lg1000bl for under $500 from academy. Best deal I’ve ever seen on a grill. Did brisket and some pork ribs on it the first night. Turned out great, no problems.

    Can you do an update of the side by side. As of June 8, 2021, it appears that the Louisiana Black Label 1200 has many of the features you said that the one you tested did not have. Be interested in an update.

    You should have have the thickness on the metal used on both.. that is what is going to stand up to time not paint.. The Lou has 12 guage used. Not to sure bout the traeger..

    • @knight_guitar
      @knight_guitar 6 років тому +1

      not sure of the gauge but the traeger is thinner and, in my experience retailing for both, it tends to warp after about a year. I'm sure that depends on how you use and store it though.

    My Louisiana grill is rusting after 9 months. Powder coating is coming off around the lid.
    It wont keep the temp below 205 always over runs the heat and has a hard time coming down.
    I have replaced the control board with the newest one but still
    The controller temp is never the same as the temp gauge on the lid.

    RecTec or Grilla Grills have stainless steel and seem to be better values. One thing missing is the gauge of the metal. LG are 14 gauge barrels and I think Traegers are 16 or 18 which isn’t great.

    Your conclusion that the LG smoker is hotter where the burner is located is false. I performed a 6-zone temperature test on my new LG-900 smoker last year. The result showed slightly HIGHER temps at the grill surface away from the burner.

    One thing I've noticed about your videos is that the audio is really quiet. I have to turn up the volume to 100 to hear it audibly in a pretty quiet room. I suggest wearing a microphone or something in the future as this is the 2nd video I've watched of yours that's nearly inaudible.

    This reviewer sucks. The louisana is powder coated, also the louisana has a fan that pushes the heat across the entire barrel for convection cooking.
    You shouldn't review grills unless you have used them.

    I have had the Louisiana Grills LG900 for nearly two years now and have had progressively worsening issues with the control board since I got it. Having the computer decide that there is an error somewhere and you have to cool the unit down before restarting it in the middle of a brisket is less than ideal, to say the least. I'm now - at less that two years old - going to sell this at a greatly reduced price because the computer finally is just unmanageable. That, combined with ZERO customer service at this point (I've emailed them three times with nothing but their automated response)...I just can't do it anymore. The probe has not worked correctly since I bought the unit. If you set the temp, it is SET. Once the meat reaches that temp, the smoker goes into a keep warm mode....which is fine, unless you decide you want to smoke it just a bit longer. You have to completely shut the grill down (including about a 20 minute cool-down cycle) and start over. I was able to talk to customer service about that (it comes that way out of the box), and they said it was a known issue...sorry. I have also had progressively worse luck with it accurately stating the temp, even though I keep it clean. Also a big fan of the pellet cleanout on the Traeger. I would absolutely NOT recommend the Louisiana Grills.

      I’m exactly where you’re at. I made a purchase thinking this would be the last grill I’d ever buy. Issue beyond issues, got so out of hand I call customer service now they’re nowhere to be found. I hate this grill. DONT waste your money.

    I have the LG 900. Fit and finish are that of a Lexus. The Wood Flame Broiler puts it way over the top here.
    2 hrs top shelf for your Porterhouse at 180 deg to smoke, then flame SEAR it to your hearts content.
    My Steaks taste as good as or better than any steak house.

      I have an LG1100 also. With that big smoker box on it. It's really temperamental. It don't like cooking in cold weather. Ive also noticed it likes to go out when you drop it from 450 startup temp to like 225 to smoke. Then it will just fill the burn pot with pellets and choke itself out. It's a nice grill but it's a real POS to run.

    • @aakoksal
      @aakoksal 4 роки тому +1

      @@leeolger1766 Once you reach 450, set your temperature to 225 and keep the lid open so temperature will drop fast. Once it gets below 225, you can close the lid... I bet Louisiana customer care people can help you update your programming, but this is how I do it.

  • @aakoksal
    @aakoksal 4 роки тому

    Well, all I can say this is a biased review... I've mapped the temperature delta between different parts on the grill for Louisiana LG-1100, there isn't a huge difference (+/- 15°F). As well, it is better to have a smoker that has a delta over its cooking surface to you can place your meet accordingly (i.e. thick part toward to hot side, etc.). Keep in mind old barrel style smokers also heat from one side, so this is actually an advantage, not a disadvantage especially when you think of the clogging issues Traeger have due to that long auger; it is a big problem here in Canada, freezes up and you're done...!!!

      Yes they do. I have a Lil' Tex Elite and I love it. It is about 5 years old and has straight legs not the angled ones shown in the video. It also has wheels on each leg, 2 non-swiveling on the long legs and swiveling ones on the short. Makes it a breeze to move around.
