And a decade before that, you had to be a mad scientist to witness it. all jokes aside though, my local library had VHS tapes with this stuff on it in the 80s, so what your saying isnt true.. you could still technically see these things in your home... albeit the data wasnt as good as it is today. and it was def harder to find, and you had to go looking for it.
Appreciation for the person who donated his or her brain for study and presentation on the internet. Not sure if this person has been credited in this video but without his or her consent this wouldn't have been such a success.
of course. sometime, someone donated his/her brain for the study. but this one seems to be artificial. i think the real brain is softer. however, very useful
All of the UBC Neuroanatomy videos are nearly perfect in every dimension (content, style, delivery, videography, sound score). This is the finest example of medical education material I have ever encountered.
This is why UA-cam is valuable as a free lecture on science and expand our knowledge in areas we might not have access to outside a university. Great invention our brains created
This is simply wonderful! I've never been taught anatomy this way before. Thank you so much, UBC Medicine, I'll be raving about this to anyone that cares to listen❤️
We have made two seasons of Neuroanatomy. The second season focuses on the Head & Neck how information from the outside world makes it into our CNS -- how we swallow and breathe (overview), how & why we can see (the orbit), how & why we taste & enjoy food (infratemporal) and superhighway nerve connectors in the skull (pterygopalatine). Hope you enjoy!
I’m studying Anatomy and Physiology I this semester. These videos are helping visualize the nervous system so much better than the models, obviously. I’ve watched other channels with human cadavers dissection, but these are far superior. I’m not a medical student, so I’d never otherwise be able to see the real internal anatomy in person. This really is the best of the Internet. Much respect to those individuals who donate their bodies to research and education. 🙏🏻
Can't believe this is free, thank you so much. Getting my psychology bachelors degree and am considering taking up neuropsychology course next semester.
Thank you, UBC Flexible Learning Initiative! Please keep funding this team because they are EXCELLENT. These videos are the best part of the excellent neuro website---I'm using it as much as my professor's lectures and our textbook.
Also, I really appreciate that you included in the video the process of cutting the brain. It's usually hard to imagine the overall position of the parts of the brain when we're directly provided with the cut section already.
OMG this is so beautiful! thank you UBC medicine. As a medical graduate student this help me more to appreciate brain in a different aspect.. I'm starting my residency training by next year and i might consider applying in neurosurgery. Thank you much love from Philippines :)
As a disabled person who is constantly around drs, please remember to take your patients feelings into account. I know it must be easy to get wrapped up in an interesting case or to just want to fix the physical issues. But the best drs I’ve ever had were ones that made sure to connect with me on a human level.
This is so incredibly well made I'm in awe. Not only is this extremely helpful for my studying but it's also just such a beautiful way to show this marvellous organ. Thank you.
Thank you very much to Dr. Krebs and her team, beside to the educational site neuroanatomy.ca as a whole. I think this web site is a referent of neurosciences teaching to the student in the dimensions of knowledge level, pertinence, didactic approach, resources, and generous sharing. From Quito, Ecuador.
I am so privliged to see this! Best neuro videos out there. Due to COVID I have been unable to attend any prac classes and I always find looking at real cadavers to be the best way to grasp neuroscience. This has been an undeniable resource.
we are so happy to help with this. UBC Medicine Educational Media also hosts a 3D anatomical model page on Sketchfab. This might also be of use to you.
I watch this before , and i cannot forget the very good demonstration . And now I'm passing this to my students to watch this. Thanks for sharing this video.
You're welcome, Isa. Are you a current or soon to be med student? Another health worker/practitioner? Or just interested in the subject matter? We're working on season 3 now. Release for early 2018.

Thank you. Yes, we put a lot of work into these. The second season of Neuroanatomy was released in 2016 and the third season of Neuroanatomy was released in 2018.
Today, we're so privileged to be able to see these things from our homes. Only a decade ago you had to be a student to witness it.
You don't really see much more of the brain as a student. Difference is you have that awful scent of fixation fluid
im ctfu your so right

Better not to know him/her. Somehow he donated his body to science maybe. Please focus on the topic and lesson, and appreciate yourself and your God.
Without her they would take another between the thousands of donors
of course. sometime, someone donated his/her brain for the study. but this one seems to be artificial. i think the real brain is softer.

The person who donated his brain is now working as a lawyer for JPMorgan & Chase.
