I was waiting for a clip of the infamous T-Mac "it feels good to finally make it out the 1st round" postgame interview after they went up 3-1 vs Detroit.
The bottom line is, the era Carmelo got drafted into the Western Conference you have a kid battle giants. Same was the 50 win log jam at #1 this year, back then you had to when 50 games to get the 8th seed alone. The year he had his best teams, then went to WCF. Same difference, with NY, his best overall team he went the furthest.
Melo wasn't the best player on that Denver WCF team though. Billups finished like 4th in MVP voting that year I believe whereas Melo wasn't even top 10.
Bottom line is he never got it done. Great talent and outstanding career but the We Believe Warriors, D Rose Bulls, PG Pacers, Suns (who never went anywhere but they won series), etc… their were players that weren’t nowhere as good as Melo who won series so don’t make excuses for those who aren’t hoop heads enough to appreciate Melos game
D Rose Bulls and PG Pacers were facing lollypops in the playoffs cause the east was trash. The only time they faced a good team they lost and didn't make it to the finals. Suns were a top 2 team in the NBA lol. We believe warriors as good as they were lost in the second round.

Look at Iversons surrounding cast and Vince Carters. Iverson went to the finals and Vince Carter lead his team out of the first round the same season that Iverson went to the finals.
