I much appreciate your sensitive review of the image quality differences, especially your point about the R5 containing more color information in the pixels (as well as being smoother and sharper). Great work!
Great video as always! I own the EOS R and really enjoy it. I was planing on the R6 or R5. I got such a good deal on the R! I could not pass it up. I think after watching your video I feel better about my choice. I am getting the results I want, keep the awesome work!
Great video and really love your photography having spotted some of your work on the facebook groups. Only point I would say is to make this comparison balanced should have been the same lens on both bodies, otherwise any differences are a combination of lens and body. Still great model and BTS, thank you.
Thanks for the nice video. Did you take any shots with the 24-105mm RF lens on the R as a comparison? I'm wondering whether that may explain some of the sharpness and image quality differences rather than the camera body?
Thank you for watching my video! My assistant was filming the photoshoot with my Mark IV and my EF 24-105 lens. It's my only lens with IS (image stabilization) so I chose to have her use it for shooting video. If I could do it over again, I would have borrowed the lens for a minute to take a few shots on my EOS R. Stay tuned, I did another photoshoot comparing the Mark IV, EOS R, and R5 and I used the same lens across the board :) Hopefully I'll have the video complete in the next week or two.
Thank you so much! Love watching your videos! I am still in the very beginning of my photography journey and don't have great camera yet . I own Canon Rebel sl2 which is not really amazing for good quality photos. I was thinking to get Canon R for now because it seems more affordable for me right now . Thank you for your comparison!
Liked! Besides what you mentioned about the differences in colour and size, there seems to be a slight contrast difference as well, or is that what you meant with smoother? The shadows on the R appear slightly harsher in the close up.
Hi Nicole, Thanks for the great video. I enjoyed your video and learnt a lot from it and your other videos too. I am going to buy EOS R and my main goal is to shoot fashion and portraits, as I know the 8 fps drops to 5 fps in continuous AF mode so my only concern is if 5 fps in Continuous AF mode can freeze a model sharply when she jumps, or a walking model in a catwalk or a model walking along the beach toward the camera or walking across the frame? I would highly appreciate you for your valuable time to help me! God bless you! Ali
thank you for the feedback! Unfortunately, I have not had enough experience shooting action, as most of my shoots are portraits, to give you an accurate answer. There are some awesome Canon EOS facebook groups you could join and ask their communities :)
@@NicoleCarsonBonilla Hi Nicole, Thank you so much for your kind answer. I'll try to find and ask them. Thanks for the kind guidance. Very much appreciated.
I open the raw files up in Exposure. Then I export the photo I want to edit in Photoshop as a .psd file. Then I bring it back into Exposure as the .psd and apply my color grading. Although sometimes I've also exported and edited them as jpegs in Photoshop if I know I don't need them as super high quality. It helps cut down on file storage space :)

Yes, the R5 has more color information overall which fills in some of the contrast.

nice review! do you personally plan to upgrade to the r5?
Thank you! Yes, I will be upgrading soon :)
I’m just curious why you don’t edit in raw instead of jpeg? Maybe I misunderstood.
