I would say the theme integration of this campaign is the best yet, and the journeying in Hela from one side scheme location with its matching guard to the next was really cool! Thanos or Hela are the favorites for me from this box, I think.
Definitely my favourite expansion so far. And I agree about Hela, that scenario was completely awesome on the first run-through. 1. Hela 2. Thanos 3. Loki 4. Tower defense 5. Ebony Maw.
Need to get some more plays in, but very likely my current favorite. Which is sad I really loved things about GMW maybe even better than this one. But they over tweaked the difficulty and made it not fun. I loved the market & I loved the idea that greed can hurt you in the long run. I wish there were more decision points between games.
Thank you Dylan for all you've done for the Champions community. We appreciate the hard work and the consistency and quality of your coverage of the game. You help keep hype around the game. Congrats on 5k! Well deserved.
Even though it’s been out for awhile I’d be really interested to see your review of Rise of Red Skull or even some of the earlier Champions releases that came out before you started covering the game.
Congratulations on 5k! I, myself started following AYCB for Marvel champions content a few months back :) I actually started playing because of your videos and have never regretted it. So happy for you guys!
Hey Dylann. I don't have the rulebook to hand so I may be wrong but I think if you get your deck snapped during the thanos fight, you only have to discard the top half of your deck for the rest of the campaign. So you can still lose your best cards in that first discard, but you don't lose them permanently.
I beat Thanos my first try wirh Spider-Man and venom. Thankfully, after the snap, I kept getting swinging web kick which helped so much. It was a lot of fun.
Hey Dylann, I agree with you regarding Hela. I think she was the most fun hero in the expansion because of the unique journey we embarked on. The scenario was thematically superb. You mentioned that she's in your top 3 in terms of most fun heroes. Who are the other two? She's number one for me. I haven't played Kang, The Wrecking Crew, nor Green Goblin, but here's my top 5 most fun villains: 1. Hela 2. The Collector 1 and 2 3. The Hood (I like the way he recruits, it's similar to Hela's scenario in the way things are added and the way the difficulty level ramps up) 4. Surprise, suprise: Proxima and Corvus 5. Thanos (the implementation of the finger snap was ingenious- one losing half of one's cards)
This is something I'm going to sit down and give more thought to! I will likely do a video at some point once I've played The Hood as well but I can say that Hela and Collector will likely be on the list!
The Hela scenario is the best!!! I love the fight through the stages. It’s has a great way for her to build up against the heroes like how the heroes build up against her. Now the strategy is to stay on side scheme 1 until u built your board state then grind it out. But still more scenarios like this! I also enjoyed Escape the museum the most in GMW.
Love your Marvel Champion reviews. This channel has definitely grown to be my go to when it comes to Marvel Champions. You mentioned that the Hela Scenario would be in your top 5 scenarios. What are your favorite scenarios, so far?
Thanks so much, Will! I'll likely do a video sometime talking about my favourite scenarios, but Green Goblin would be in there, as would one of the Collector scenarios!
Thanks for your review! I'm enjoying my first playthrough, the difficulty seams to be perfect. Difficult without being punishing. Congratulations on 5k subscribers. Keep up the great content.
5K - Yay! Well deserved Totally agree about Hela. I am voluntarily waiting for Cmas but it’s my most anticipated villain. More of that indeed. If you lose 1/2 your deck to Thanos you might be able to get it back if you destroy your Iron Man deck. (spoilers?). I have a suspicion we will see a Loki deck; really good at thwarting, one less glove and a side deck of five. More questing in Asgard, for example. I’d be up for that.
Excellent content as always. Definitely the best box to date. It makes me very optimistic for the Sinister 6 box coming up (and hopefully Black Cat showing up in the hero cycle)
Just bought the base game last week and fell in love immediately love the fact that as a LCG i just buy the product and i'm good to go for deckbuilding/playing. Waiting on the thanos xpac in the mail and 3 hero packs too.
Hela is my favorite scenario as well. It feels a lot like the LOTR LCG style of scenarios, and that was my favorite game until Champions so that’s probably why. So if you want more scenarios like Hela there’s plenty more out there! All you have to do is start playing another LCG lol
I got my deck cut in half and was slowly torn apart by Hela. I managed to free Odin after like 2 hours but was immediately knocked out after that, so I’m gonna have to follow suit and re-do Thanos! I was loving the theme of Hela’s scenario and bet it will be way more enjoyable with a full deck. (May try the half deck challenge later on with some favorite heroes though) Love your guys’ content and congrats on 5K!
I would love to do this, I just need to have more time to tackle it! We're pretty busy these days, especially with the charity event. But I'd love to do some "retro" reviews on past releases at some point.
Great video! Hela is great for being different, but we had very different experiences haha I think she took me like 7 tries to beat solo haha Weirdly still might be my favorite of the box because of how different. I also did the same thing about Loki's HP.
@@AllYouCanBoard yeah, it was rough. I was using Spectrum's precon to do the campaign for the first time. Ended up making a Justice deck for her and finally winning. Then Loki with the precon was pretty much a walk in the park 🤷♂️
Oh I'm definitely gonna go back and play Kang with the infinity gauntlet first. I wonder if he'd lose it after you beat phase one and his other versions come out.
I bought this over GMW because of the really cool leadership tribal cards and because of the villains. If it was just because of the heroes I would have bought GMW cause I love rocket
Amazing video, I'm paying this with 2 friends in expert, already beat it in standard, I love the expansion also I think it's a good balance, GMW sometimes feels a bit too much. One small correction, you do not loose the half of your deck in the other scenarios, the other 2 say you have to discard the top half of your deck, so it's only in the first rotation, not saying that's not bad, but please do not play with only half deck the whole time :P, in fact it's the top half of your deck after you shuffle, not even the same cards.
I read that wrong too. Beat Hela with 20 cards per player. Had to get the decks up to full size for Loki so there were 25 cards per player and I just barely pulled it off on the third try. Would have been a lot easier if I just had learned how to read :D
I am both flabbergasted and relieved to learn that I read that incorrectly hahaha. But perhaps we can just say I was attempting an unofficial heroic mode? :P
@@dylanspeed Hey don't mind it too much, I think we all have at least 1 instance of reading a rule soooo bad that you can't believe when are corrected hahaha
I love this box. Love the heroes and special cards for the campaign:) gonna go through this many times. The theme and difficulty is great. Just enaugh! Felt like “how are we gonna beat this” and then we did. Went through it with no loss with out of box decks. Think we are gonna tweak the decks and do expert. Galaxy is to hard for expert for us I think. Red skull is 2:nd favourite
I have the base set and Captain America. Looking for a small scenario pack. Which do you prefer Green Goblin or Wrecking Crew? Or which small scenario pack do you prefer?
Do you often run thru the campaign with both characters from the xpac? Or do you choose a thematic approach? What was your favorite hero that you used thru it?
Usually I do, yes. That's moreso because of wanting to test the new characters for content creation purposes though. After I've done that, I revisit the campaign with whichever heroes tickle my fancy! I haven't gone back through MTS with other characters yet but I'd love to try expert with a couple heavy hitters like Quicksilver and Captain America/Dr. Strange.
Considering that this is very likely the only Loki scenario we’ll ever get in Champions I really wish they hadn’t made the infinity Gauntlet mandatory for all Loki scenarios. It’s cool him having it in the campaign but in general I feel like the gauntlet stuff distracts from the Loki flavor and makes him feel a bit like Thanos.
I feel the same way about Loki. In a vacuum its a very fun scenario, but when i think about this being the definitive Loki scenario (hopefully not) it is disappointing. The gauntlet's reused mechanics take away from what could have been additional Loki goodness.
That's a very good point. Loki could absolutely carry his own scenario with his own thematics and the Infinity Gauntlet inclusion does definitely distract from the traits that make him unique and would have made his scenario unique, even without the gauntlet.
How does Mad Titan's Shadow compare to Galaxy's Most Wanted and Rise of the Red Skull for you? Which is your favourite villain?
Definitely best expansion so far!!! Thanos is my favourite villain.
Greetings!!
I would say the theme integration of this campaign is the best yet, and the journeying in Hela from one side scheme location with its matching guard to the next was really cool!

Yes I just realized this from another comment about it! Upset I did it wrong but also relieved to hear it isn't that punishing hahaha.
I think on an FFG Champions Q&A video, Caleb said they play tested a permanent snap and the play testers revolted.
I beat Thanos my first try wirh Spider-Man and venom. Thankfully, after the snap, I kept getting swinging web kick which helped so much. It was a lot of fun.

Ultron + Infinity Gauntlet...and when Vision comes out, that Nemesis set as a Mod for all our What If? desires. It's going to be Brutal
Haha exactly! Can't wait.

I like that they are giving us more modular sets that represent characters. It gives more flexibility to play hood thematically.

Just read the other guy’s comment about only “discarding” the top half for the next two scenarios, huge freaking relief😅
Hahaha, I'm a but happy to hear I'm not the only one who made that mistake! :P
Any chance of a review/overview of Rise of Red Skull? I've just gotten into MC and find this kind of video really helpful. Thanks! 😀

You mentioned the Hela scenario plays similarly to a Arkham Horror LCG scenario but I have to disagree, it plays almost exactly like a LOTR LCG quest.

Haha where have I heard this plot before...
hela is fun but waaaaay to easy :/
