  • I've had the Lowrance Active Target mounted on my boat for the last 4 months. It's time that we go deep and talk about my like's and dislike's with the product.

Thanks for your assessment. I bought active target and set it up on my kayak. I took it out yesterday to test it out and had mixed feelings. I did find and catch fish off of it but like you said, it doesn't work great in shallow water which was unfortunately what I was in mostly. I'm not quite sure how to get it leveled out yet but I do see how it will be great in certain situations. Looking forward to getting it out on some deeper water.

Nice, i was actually looking into getting that sea clear power harness. What is that wiring kit called on Ebay? Thanks for the money saving tip!!!

You can just buy this 12 AWG wire, some connectors, fuses and a cutoff switch: www.amazon.com/Tinned-Copper-Duplex-Sheathed-Marine/dp/B0799K17WS/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2TGQGKYWHXO94&dchild=1&keywords=12+awg+duplex+wire&qid=1634670417&sprefix=12+awg+dupl%2Caps%2C192&sr=8-3
You can build your own harness for MUCH less money, and it takes less than 45 minutes to install.

Great vid! I just purchased an active target and haven’t set it up yet so this helps. Are you planning to use the active target ice fishing?

No, I don't plan on removing it from my boat for ice season. That would be quite a bit of work.

Hey there punch, do you know if active target can easily be installed on a Minn kota terrova trolling motor? The reason I ask is a lot of these forward facing solutions whether it be the 360 or active target, don't seem to mate well with a trolling motor where the shaft of the trolling motor slides up and down when stowed and deployed versus a trolling motor with a fixed shaft position.

@@PunchFishing so I I have a 15ft gregor .. I just bought an xi3 .. I got the salt water version so it doesn't come with the 2d ... but it does have the pin point gps and I can hook it up to a lowrance product .. I'm gonna do the hds 7 because lowrance is compatible ... if the 9 is good with live then I'm wondering if the 7 will be good enough for live target aswell.? .. . I'm hearing that the hds units all have amazing clarity? .. I'm also gonna use a second monitor for mapping as well... just havnt figured out wich one ... I definitely am interested in live target system .. I will be fishing for stripers often .. and live target sounds ideal for that. .. idk I've done a lot to my boat now I'm in the process of putting all the expensive crap in it lol. .. Im new to fishfinders as well.. this is why I'm interested in hds live .. I hear its fairly easy to learn how to use that unit.

@@PunchFishing There are always good and duds in every rod series. I like to have most of my rods match unless there is something that isn’t offered in another series. I was just curious is you had one that stood out a little more than others. Conquest and NRX+ look now so similar minus guides.
