- The News of The Microsoft/Xbox Acquisition of Activision Blizzard literally shookup the very foundation of the video game industry in ways we cannot even imagine yet. Not only is this the largest video game acquisition of all time, it is also the largest technology acquisition of all time demonstrating just how massive this merger is between Microsoft Gaming and Activision, the world's largest third party video game developer. Ever since this news broke playstation fanboys have been on the damage control war path proclaim absolutely absurd statements like "Call of Duty is Dead anyway" or that no one cares about any of Activision's games which is a complete cope and seethe moment on the behalf of salty playstation fans. Does this mean that PS5 will lose Activision Games like Call of Duty Warzone? Probably not in the short term but no one can say whether or not Microsoft will make all Activision and all Blizzard Games Exclusive to Gamepass Platforms like Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and the PC.

But it honestly wouldn't surprise me if Bungie games (excluding already released games) become exlcusive to PS. IMO, it's Sony and their terrible about multiplat games. (PC's pretty much the only other platform they have ever put their own games, with maybe a select few on Xbox/Switch that I can't think of atm.) I don't mind exclusivity, but I hate when companies say that "they won't be exclusive" then turn around and do the complete opposite, and at this point, it's completely expected from Sony.

Apparently it was a condition set by Bungie that the games remained multiplatform. Best believe when Sony acquires another studio that they will lock those games down. So while at first I was like....damn, Sony, you surprised me. It was Bungie all along.

Honestly I doubt sony pays attention to the fanboys, they’re a vocal minority. I think that since sony (and MS) have to sell their newest consoles at a loss, they couldn’t sustain their strategy of cutting 2/3 of available platforms from their games, so they’re now starting to port things to PC

It's either something or nothing depending on how many CoD players are willing to switch to Xbox, as opposed to just dropping the franchise to play something else. The last few CoD games have been rather lackluster as well, apart from Warzone.

The trick with marketing is you want the spotlight. Accidentally releasing your trailer when there's other big news happening is gonna drown your announcements. While I can watch the trailer for Horizon, I much rather talk about the bombshell of an announcement that is the Microsoft deal, because that's monumental... Plus PS Fanboys also think it's more important to talk about the MS acquisition than their own game, so it's funny.

I honestly view most Sony exclusive games to be hot trash excluding Bloodborne. FFXIV and Guilty Gear doesn't count as exclusives (I think?) since both games are also on PC. I'm probably one of many who plays on Playstation but hates the concept of exclusive games. I'd kill to see a good MMO like FFXIV come to Xbox and I'm still hoping those rumours of it coming to Xbox are true. It likely won't happen soon but it's understandable since they're still focused on Post-Endwalker MSQ

Bungie was probably for the Bethesda deal most likely and Jim said there are more acquisitions coming so it isn't over nonetheless it will be good to us getting even better games on both consoles this generation.
Oh absolutely. Considering what a behemoth Microsoft is, it would not surprise anyone if they started the Bethesda and Activision Blizzard acquisitions simultaneously, but the latter got announced later because we all know how money-thirsty Activision Blizzard executives are, so they probably wanted a bigger piece of the cake. Honestly, Microsoft could wake up one day and buy the whole PlayStation department out. Sony would only sell headphones and record deals at that point.
I had no idea there was a story trailer for HFW. That shows how big it was.
Granted, I was pretty much just planning to wait for the inevitable PC port. And the story of the first game was pretty standard derivative sci-fi fare. Not terrible, but not wholly original either.

I don't have any issues with companies that "own" studios that make games an exclusive. I don't like it when companies do this but I get it. What I really hate and 100% won't support is when companies pay 3rd party studios to gate off games and content to people by making them exclusive. To me, that's fucking bullshit.
If you built your studio or acquired a studio, it's yours, right or wrong, nice or not nice, do what you want. You own it.

I don't think that's why. In fact I think Sony wanted to purchase bungie but the only way bungie was going to take was if they were in control of who they both publish for and make games for. This deal was in the making for months as evident by destiny's sudden pull from game pass a little bit ago. Sony needed a steady source of income, bungie had that source but bungie wasn't going to give them any unless it was on their terms, not Sony.

I'll never understand the big deal about Playstation. Yea, I had a PS1 and PS2 growing up but when the Xbox 360 and PS3 came out, it was a no brainer that Xbox was a better choice (Even with the RROD) Everyone had an Xbox 360 and barely anybody had a PS3. Ever since then I have never even thought about Playstation. I buy Nintendo consoles and Xbox consoles, and that's it. The times I have played PS4 (Never tried the PS5) I came away unimpressed. I would never choose to buy a Playstation over an Xbox and it's been like that for 17 years

Sony messed up the only game I cared about for their ps4 generation, TLOU2. All they needed to do was make a good fun adventure featuring Joel and Ellie again in leading roles. That's literally it.
The X360 generation MS console was actually better in some ways but halfway through and near the end PS just started doing better games as MS just stopped making good games as during the first half arguably MS had better games.
The 360 was wayy better than the ps3 however i thought the ps4 was better than the Xbox one imo

The last time I got hyped for a video game trailer was back when Kingdom Hearts II was announced for the PS2 at a past E3. That trailer hit all the right beats at the perfect moments where their impact would be felt the most, it had a great BGM to accompany the trailer, and I waited for what seemed like an eternity for the second mainline KH in the series that when I witnessed the greatnesss of that epic trailer, I think I got burnt out from video game trailer hype. Nothing I have seen since then has ever beaten that feeling I felt of my hair standing up on end as I watched Sora, Donald, and Goofy return to fight the darkness and to try to rescue Kairi and Rikku as well as uncover the mystery of Namane and Roxas.
That was the best trailer I had ever seen up to that point, and even to this day, no trailers have ever beaten it.
Sony's best response theoretical day 1 response would actually have been some new StarWars KOTOR Remake announcements. That would have actually been some remote counter weight until the Bungie acquisition announcement.
Unfortunately for Sony though my guess is it isn't up to them anyways considering it's being co or completely developed by Aspyr which isn't their studio and the license belongs to LucasFilm and Disney who probably have to approve or are the ones that totally dictate when announcements or anything of the kind can be made.
You know what I notice about most PlayStation exclusives? Their gameplay all seem very similar

I like Forbidden West - one of the best games I've played from this year, only topped by Elden Ring - but I wouldn't go so far as to call it a masterpiece, as I do have a number of critiques with it, mainly with how hand-holdy it can be with the puzzles. Overall gameplay was solid though, especially the combat and general exploration, so it wasn't a deal breaker for me.
@25:30 Insomniac did have a history with releasing games outside of Playstation - they released a couple of independent PC games, and they also developed Sunset Overdrive as a Microsoft exclusive. They have largely been releasing games for Playstation though, particularly with Ratchet and Clank and Resistance, so yeah it didn't make as much of a difference. Certainly not to the same level as buying a company like Activision.

I do love my ps5 but I wouldn’t really call myself a fanboy, yes I do think Sony does have some better titles (Soulsborne titles exclusive to the platform in particular) but I’m honestly indifferent towards either platform because ultimately it’s about what you like. The problem I have with this is the fact that those who love something will defend it, but PS fans in particular are guilty of being VERY rude and oblivious towards the truth.

DeS Remake sucks ass. Bloodborne plays in 24fps and drops frames every time you visceral attack someone on top of having the worst quality of life I've ever experienced in a game. And those are Sony's best exclusives. Kinda sad.

As a gamer who plays on all platforms, I just don't see the big deal with exclusives they're fun at first but when you beat them what more can you do. Wait for 5-6 years for the next installment to come out. I love gaming as a whole I'm not a fanboy but I enjoy my Xbox series S more. Game pass is the best I enjoy it so much it's so many games to play and have fun with plus Xbox has the greatest backward compatibility games lineup I've ever seen it's so nostalgic. This generation I'm going with Xbox.

As much as I’m excited for forbidden west, it won’t compare to the acquisition. I mean I played horizon zero dawn on pc. Great game. But if activison can get their crap together they can top that. The only reason I’m dusting my ps4 pro off the shelf after 3 years is only because of forbidden west. I’ll play it like 3 times but after that it’s back on the shelf. That’s the only thing holding the fanboys together. Without their exclusives their lives are over. If forbidden eat comes to pc in a year or two I’m gonna laugh because then I’m going to play it 5 times because it looks 3 times better than the ps5 and 6 times better than the ps4 pro

In my humble honesty, Horizon Zero Dawn, after playing it on the PC, felt very underwhelming. Not because of the port and it's condition.
The reality I got from it is pretty different from the hype train alot of PS4 fans rode when it was released in 2017. Story and combat is good yeah, but the characters were pretty bland, Aloy felt more like a downgraded version of Geralt of Rivia but her sarcasm don't click, the open world is too open and pretty empty in my opinion, doing all the 'Collectibles' isn't considered good content. Npcs acting and the side quests are mediocre at best. The DLC was better, but im not very optimistic about the next entry, at least to me.
Yeah I fell so too.. I bought Horizon last year on PC so I can make my own thoughts.. it was my most boring game of that year and I payed 49€.. Days Gone was better but I don't know the brutal slow paste of these games like RDR2.. I can't play..
Than I played GoW.. combat it great loved it and the scene with Baldur war great too but it was a Scene.. only 3 main enemy types like really?? They had different elements but still.. just the flying ones the draugr and Orgs that's it for "best game of generation" I expect more !! Story was ok but I hate Arteus he's annoying 😅.. so I think they just hyped everyone up so they make there mind oh yeah it is that good it was good for 30€ a great value but 60 ? Way to much for me
Congrats fellas you came to the sad reality I came to in 2018 or whenever GoW ps4 came out. I’m no fanboy grew up with everything from the GameCube to cheap swap meet emulators and traded in my xbone for a ps4 pro to play GoW. Never beat it owned horizon and days gone. Damn near the same gameplay loop in both those games… also the same gameplay loop in a lot of AAA games but these are exclusive so they’re better right?
Welcome to reality. As a PC and PS owner myself, I never understood the hype either. GOW4 was impressive visually and technically, but mediocre to downright bad where acting and writing was concerned. A solid, above average game, but not a console decider. Horizon is the same. Impressive visually, managed to play smoothly somehow even on the Pro, but nothing worth buying a console over. Never had any interest in its sequel since they went woke, so I can't speak for that. Days Gone again has the same issue as the other two though. Good technical side, great gameplay, but atrocious story and characters. Uncharted bored my head off and I stopped at the first game 30% in. The fourth was downright horrible. TLOU1 did the reverse of all the other exclusives and had incredible writing, but god-awful gameplay. Its sequel is literally the worst game ever. Demon's Souls was just good looking but horrible playing Dark Souls. Eclipsed in every field even visuals by Elden Ring, which is multiplatform. What else is there? Ah yes:
Bloodborne was the reason I bought my Pro in 2018. At its core it is a great game, but hindered by garbage performance. Atrocious frame rate, horrible quality of life. Zero replay value as a result. Underwhelming. With a half remake/remaster to bring all the quality of life that DS3, Elden Ring and Sekiro had, this could be a gem though. Seems Sony doesn't care to hire anyone to do it however, probably since it didn't sell crazy good.
So that's just about it. There's no other exclusives worth talking about. Most are 6/10 games. Solid, but heavily flawed. Two of them are outright garbage.
I never understood why Sony fanboys hyped these games so much. None of them are worth buying a PS console over.

Your doubt was justified. Elden Ring has eclipsed Forbidden West completely. I legit have to look up videos about it to see a single thing of it, and they're at like 30k views from weeks ago where Elden Ring content gets 200k views in 6 hours and spams my notifications with shorts. It's sold 6 times better than Forbidden West and is received better than any game to date, whereas Forbidden West has had a common positive reception, nothing special.
Hell, I see more about Dying Light 2 from small Polish Techland than I do about Forbidden West. Wouldn't be surprised if their sales figures were similar or even higher either.
