But I think I' m gonna be Toddler for five years now and forever.
It's hard for me to get out of Toddler and I 'm still strugging with English . One thing led to another.

Well, I was trying to look for good ways to study English and UA-cam algorithm kept showing me Live Academy video thumbnail a lot. It took me a while but eventually I got to see some of his videos. And before I knew it, I was so into his videos and kind of addicted to his lessons and spent most of my time studying his lessons. And you know, one things led to another I joined membership of his channel. The next thing I knew, I was visiting his online community everyday to write English and use it as my archive. 😁
어려서 이민가셨다가 초등학교때 다시 돌아오신걸로 알고있는데 어쩜 이렇게 늬앙스를 잊지않고 섬세하게 기억하고 전달하실까 신기하네 ㅎㅎ

Well, I was in a volleyball club 10 years ago. A guy in that club happened to show me a kind of certificate of Emotion Coaching institute and introduced it to me. It seemed to be helpful for my career and personal life so I got attracted to it as soon as I heard about it. Soon I got to take quite a few courses in that area. And before I kew it, I was attending Non Violent Communication seminars taking trains to get to Seoul. You know, one thing led to another the next thing I knew, I've became a person who is so into mindfulness and meditation.

선생님! 의미있는 발화를 할 기회가 많지 않은데 쌤 강의를 통해 열심히 중얼거리며 연습하고 있습니다ㅋㅋ 너모 감사드려용😍 we naturally got to talking 이 부분에서 궁금한게 있는데요! get to 후에는 보통 동사원형이 와서 ~ 하게 되다. 라는 뜻으로 기억하고 저도 자주 쓰고 있는데요:) 여기서는 어떻게 ing형태가 온 것일까용? 가장 직관적인 의미로 get to -에 도달하다 , 즉 to가 전치사로 쓰여서 talking이라는 명사형(이것도 불확실..ㅎㅎ)을 받게 된 걸까요..?대화에 있어서 분석적일 필요는 없다고 생각하지만 호기심이 자꾸 저를 괴롭히네요^^; It is one of the greatest joy every morning when I play your video while making up :) so appreciated !

i was scrolling down youtube short clips after brushing my tooth and before i knew it, i spent an hour on it. in fact i had felt like it took less than half an hour.
i got carried away at grocery and the next thing i knew, it took more than an hour. more than that, it cost much more than it normally does.
i dont know exactly how we became friends. we first met each other at some restaurant for a little acquaintance with some people in the same class. and one thing led to another and the next thing i knew, i felt like we had a little much in common. and before i knew it, we have been still getting along fine.
Well, I was trying to learn English more and I was looking for a good video and materials in UA-cam, instead of visiting a kind of institute. I didn't want to go to an institute for some reasons and I by any chance found Live Academy. And, before I knew it, I was watching daily a video of the channel, and, you know, one thing led to another. The next thing I knew, I become a big fan of that channel and I am making a small progress everyday.

선생님 여기서 쓰신 “teacher would pair us up”에서의 would와 used to의 차이를 알 수 있을까요?ㅜㅜ
전 빨간모자쌤은 아닙니다만, 이 문맥에서는 used to와 바꿔써도 무방해 보여요.
여기서 would는 과거의 습관(past habits)를 나타내고 있고 used to역시 과거에 어떤 기간동안 규칙적으로 행해지고 지속되었던 일을 나타낼 때 쓸 수 있어요.
Before we had television, people would(used to) make their own entertainment. 이 예문에서도 둘 다 됩니다.
제가 알기로는 굳이 따지자면 would가 used to에 비해 좀 더 formal하고, 일반적으로 used to를 쓰는 것이 안전합니다.(used to가 가진 의미가 would에 비해 제한되어 있어서 오해의 여지가 적겠죠.)😊
used to 는 현재 더이상은 하지 않는 과거의 습관이고, would는 현재도 하는지 여부는 내포하지 않은 과거의 습관 아닌가요
예문의 경우, 그 선생님이 아직도 수업시간에 학생들을 그렇게 짝지어 공부시키고 있는지 알 수 없으므로 used to는 어울리지 않죠.
제가 알기로는, would는 과거의 반복된 동작을 나타냅니다.(여부를 알 수 없는 경우라고 나온 책은 못봤어요)
When I was a child, I used to/would get up early. 둘 다 가능합니다.
빨간모자 선생님께서 제시한 예문에서는 pair up이라는 주어의 의지에 따라 언제든지 중단이 가능한 동사(sing, make, go, get...처럼)와 쓰였으므로 would가 가능한 것입니다.
빨모쌤의 예문에서는 지금 계속 그 수업을 듣느냐 아니냐에 중점이 있는게 아니고 과거에 일어났다는 것이 중요해 보입니다. 따라서 would나 used to나 둘 다 쓸 수 있다고 생각합니다
출처는 oxford사의 oxford learner’s grammar(p.117-118), 박영사 고급영문법해설 3개정판(p.160-161)입니다. 둘 다 너무 좋은 책이에요~ 공간이 부족해서 다 적을 수는 없지만 이 외에도 would와 used to의 차이점이 많이 소개되어있어요😊

@@amirlee2215 이게 맞습니다. Would가 더 적절한거 같아요. 의도 자체가 used to (현재는 더이상 하지 않는다는)를 써야 할 이유가 문맥상 없어 보입니다. 포커스는 그 선생넘이 자금도 그러는지 아닌지 알 수 없고 그게 중요하지도 않기에 그냥 예전에 종종 그랬었는데 의 느낌이 더 맞습니다.

it was just normal day. as usual, I was just simply trying to get to home after overtime work.
and I really don't specifically remember that what time it was, but there's one thing that I remember. it was my wife.
as I said, I was simply trying to get home and I saw her at a caffe. it was like one of the movie scenes.
and at that moment I was drinking the coffee and I spilled it on my white shirt. but I didn't even realized that I spilled the coffee on my shirt, I was just keep my eyes on (stearing) her. anyways, I asked her phon number and she gave me her humber. and than things were getting faster than I thought. 영화나 드라마 아니면 미국사람들이 가끔 과거에일어난 일들에대해 설명할때 과거형을 쓰지않고 현재형으로 말하는데 그 이유는 뭘까요? 예를들어 동사를쓸때 과거형 walked, did이런식으로 안쓰고 walk, does이런식으로 그냥쓰는거요
어 저도 궁금해요 다큐같은데 보면 죄다 현재형으로 말해서 뭘까싶었는데..

@@leewoo2131 보통 현재형은 would 와 함께 쓸수있습니다. 뜻은 비슷합니다.

과거를 쓰는 게 원칙이지만, 작품에 생동감, 주목도 등을 높이기 위해 과거 대신 현재를 쓰는 경우입니다. 어짜피 독자나 시청자들은 과거 사실을 전제하고 듣게 되므로 헷갈리지도 않습니다...또 작가들이 책의 주목도를 높이기 위해서 현재 시제를 쓰는 경우도 많이 있습니다. 그냥 "이게 과거 얘기지만 생생하게 얘기하는 구나" 정도로 받아들이면 좋습니다.
