- Renault’s decision to swap the snappy, short-shift manual gearbox of the previous-generation Clio RS for a high-tech, dual-clutch version with shift paddles upset the petrolhead fraternity - and to be honest, they had a point: it was clumsy, slow and got in the way of an otherwise brilliant package. An updated version sticks with the EDC gearbox - but updated software and other refinements make the result a lot more satisfying.

I have this version of the clio RS and I really enjoy it, I put it into manual mode on most drives apart from town. Car models often get updates to software through their lifetime and this review reflects that.

What is the difference between this model and the r.s trophy also is this the 2017 one? How do you put it into sport and race mode ?
