Finally a concert without coughs
ahahahhaha absolutely
*cough cough*
and without cell phones rings!!
I just coughed...at home. If you want, in the future we as audience and the instrumentalists can do a ZOOM live stream video bomb to get those subtle nuances of extraneous audience....BELCH (whoops! just finished my beer)... noises, if that is your pleasure. Would love to chat further, but...my cell phone is ringing (Beethoven's Fifth ring tone now playing)...
ironically in the middle of a pandemic of a cough-causing disease is the only time this is possible
Mozart's small size orchestra of the 1700s is just enough for the stage!
I totally agree !

Moi aussi !
👌
It remains light and breaths
Singing freely…
(Free of Bruchner symphonic weight.)
Paris
For his concerts definetly and it sounds so great. But a concert for example by Rachmaninow or Elgar wouldn't have their typical epic and full sound in this orchestra size
0:27 1st movement
8:17 2nd movement
15:40 3rd movement
It's in the description
Love this performance and this piece. Bassoon is the hardest woodwind instrument to play - I speak as a flautist - the rest of us do not have to do so much work to just play in tune. You would not guess it when you listen to him play. Such joyful playing, really cheered me up, and I learned a lot just from listening to this one performance.
When I heard it on the radio the other morning, I said to myself "why thats the happiest bassoon!"
Finally, a piece for a rare instrument player to show off their skill.
Bassoon isn't that rare
Like the French Horn the Bassoon is not heard enough as a soloist, so this refreshing playing from the soloist and one of Germany's many fine provincial orchestras is much welcomed.
The sound of the bassoon touches my heart.... and especially my ears.
I play bassoon and have played this concerto and this is an outstanding performance. Theo has my respect for playing even the parts that aren't part of the solo. Also I loved his long interpretation of the cadenza at the end of the first movement. All topped off by probably the best stage presence I've ever seen from a bassoonist. Overall what an excellent interpretation. Cheers
Beatiful sound tecnique great soloist......compliment
Touches my heart to see all musicians fighting back the pandemia and offering us the supreme joy of music and most of all, the "divine" Amadeus. Thank you, thank you. And other Thank you.
This man trills like a machine! With great taste and musicality, I am speechless!
Absolutely agree
A wonder to behold
Fluid, effortless, legato, articulation, dexterity of the highest order
Such freedom and ease makes the technical difficulties seamless for the grateful listener
Like silk
Bravissimo !
The word I would use to describe this performance is astounding.
Mr. Plath is a fine young bassoon artist. His performance is mesmerizing. This is the first time I have heard this wonderful orchestra. Frankfurt is one blessed city to have an orchestra of this quality. I grew up with Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra, and I think this is one fine performance.
Oh, you wonderful musicians! Thank you. I played trumpet in high school band, always envied those who played the double-reed instruments. Blessings be upon all of you for your precious gift of this Mozart Concerto in this time of plague and sadness.
A fascinating instrument. High quality performance
"FASCINATING"? ...that's the nicer word for it!
Is it just me, or does the orchestra sound noticeably better spaced out like this? Every instrument seems to come through so much more clearly when they are not all bunched up together.
That said, I have to admit to being bummed out out yet again by the realities of coronavirus life. AND at the same time, inspired by the resilience and determination people are displaying in the face of it.
Oh yeah . . . damn fine basoonist, and so nice to hear the lovely sound of this unique instrument in a lead role!
They do sound really vibrant in all these videos with the distanced layout. I'd be curious to see if it's from the engineers or how it sounds it live.
That's the way it should be. I played in Lansing Symphony for 1 1/2 years. We were all crammed in together until these concerto's. I asked for the spotlight be focused right on me because of my stage fright.
The orchestra always sound amazing. First of all it is a top class orchestra, and secondly they work in a radio house. Recording is something they are very good at.
I wonder if the acoustics of the room change, perhaps for the better, with all those soft audience bodies with soft clothing absent.
@@trainliker100 I'm a symphony musician. Let me tell you, it really does change the sound. Also when we are in concerto the tuxedo changes slightly the sound perception you recieve from your instrument. In this recording I hear a lot of echo, possibly due to the fact that the hall is empty.
Congratulations to the outstanding bassoon and orchestra interpretations. The music is sublime. Viva Mozart and the superb masterpiece.
Viva Mozart!
Covid cannot stop music from playing. Thank you for this wonderful performance.
Thank you for your wonderful concerts! You brighten our weekend with the glorious music of Mozart! I hope you will be able to play again soon to full houses! ❤️💐👏👏👏👏👏
Never really heard a bassoon before this, and let me tell you this is the perfect introduction. The guy playing the bassoon has an amazing stage presence, and from what I assume some perfection on the bassoon.
Yes he’s fantastic! The Mozart concerto is the perfect introduction for virgin ears.
and how old is he? 15??
@@orthohawk1026 26 lmao
You should hear The Rite of Spring. Starts off with a bassoon solo.
@@ianw1976 The bassoon solo all bassoonists fear. It is incredibly high and hard to play from a cold start.
Really grateful for the joy you gave me
The lmmortal Mozart
Immortal!
I can't get over how cool this concerto is. Bassoon shredding for the win.
"cool"? "shredding"?! "for the win"??! This is serious music -- art music! It's not a bloody rap concert! Grow up.
DieFlabbergast I think you should just appreciate the fact that young people enjoy classical music instead of focusing on their choice of words... Slang is slang and even though perhaps you wouldn’t use it, it doesn’t mean they meant any harm with it. I’d take it as a compliment if my playing was described as cool and I was shredding.
@@DieFlabbergast By the way the term Shredding comes from rock, and metal.
Let him enjoy this music.....the term shredding is quaintly, quite appropriate for virtuosity.
@@DieFlabbergast lmao b8

A lovely recording of all too infrequently heard gem
.. beautiful performance .. beautiful soloist in ALL respects .. nice orchestra playing .. one of the best performances i've heard on non period instruments .. bravo, bravo, bravo .. excellent, excellent, excellent .. thank you, thank you, thank you ! ..
Herzlichen Dank...
There is certain depth of sound clarity that is achieved when the instrumentalists are distance-spaced like this. It brings out individual timbre and sonorities of instruments that otherwise can get muddled with compact ensemble playing. Of course, much of this is due to the electronics of mixer control.
Many thanks to Theo Plath and the orchestra for their great performance . Bravos all round!!!
Beautiful! concert l and incredible sound , it seems to me that also the space among the musicians, give Mozart's MUSIC a new acustical and great dimenssion despite that it was written for chamber orchestras at that time. BRAVO! FRANKFURT RADIO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.
0 dislikes at this time, as it should remain forever. Why the social distancing, germs can't survive on a stage that is on fire with their skill.
BRAVA!! Love this Basson concert, love the sound of a Basson. Wonderful, the soloist and the orchestra and conductor!
Anyone who can play this on a Bassoon is insane , very beautiful piece .
Guess what I can play:)
It's crazy good isn't it????!!!!

Ein Edelstein! A gem! Una gemma! Une gemme! ¡Una gema!
The performance and the piece are priceless. Thank you for performing K. 191 and sharing it with the world during quarantine.
Played wonderfully with great verve and good sense as well !
Amazing performance Theo P. And the whole Orquesta
Wunderschön! Hoffentlich bleiben Sie alle gesund. Alles Gute.
Absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much!
Very talented bassoonist!
Bravisimo! I love your orchestra so much. And bravo for keeping up the live music during the days of covid and thank you.
🙏🏼
Es gefällt mir richtig gut!
An amazing performance. I've heard all the instruments very clearly and the soloist is also extremely dominant to the concerto. Congrats young man.
Beatiful Mozart... thanks for this performance....
Impeccable performance being that there is no audience what is the rush the tempo is exactly were it must be . it sounds better when there is no pressure rushing the stream it flows as it should as gentle as the stream.
Bravíssimo!! This orchestra are be very important in this moment. So many information and videos to show that is possible playing during quarentin.
0:28 I. Allegro
8:18 II. Andante ma Adagio
15:41 III.
I've heard this concerto many times, this interpretation really is one of the very best ones! Amazing how fluffy and elegant Theo Plath plays it!
Bravo Theo Plath!
Sehr wunderbar
Ahhhh I like it 😍😍
I hope one day I can play bassoon 😍
Love from Indonesia ❤🇲🇨🇲🇨
i really liked the moment at the focus of the camera drew back from the solo player to the hands of the conductor. natural change of point of view.
Enchanted by the beautiful tone !
Thank you Theo and all for this uplifting performance. May I complement the horn players: Mozart’s genius to take them high and out of the bassoon register is great, but as an amateur horn player I get the jitters just to think about the horn parts lol. Brilliant all round. Best wishes to all. Correction: ‘compliment’
Can't get enough !,absolutely Sensational.
Status: obsessed with Theo Plath. He made this so lighthearted and funnnnn
😇 Same!
Precisely
The panache bien of technical mastery
Beautiful. Great control of the dynamics.
Staggeringly brilliant Theo - you shine here and another one of Germany's brilliant provincial orchestras to accompany you. Loved your short video introducing yourself -please come to Australia some time.
This musician is really great, lovely playing and very beatiful musicality
A super bassoonist! Whoa. The cadenza was thoughtful and displays his connection to the piece.
Entirely agree
Outstanding cadenza, organically connected
Such technical proficiency, freedom and effortless expressiveness
A wonderful to behold
Wonderful clear dynamic orchestral support combines seamlessly
MERCI !
i recognized mister theo multiple times when he played meldelhsohns 5 and schuberts 2! primar and welldone! from one musician to another
edit: he changed his haircut apparently
Fantastischer Ton. Chapeau, Theo.
wow! just amazing, such a warm sound coming out of the bassoon
this helped me play it, thank you
❤
Did you learn to play this concerto??
how is it going?
Mozart siempre ...............
Kinda sad....such an amazing performance....no audience.....I know, I get it too........still sad. I miss going to the symphony, maybe again some day! :) Thank you for this performance....it lifts my spirit though these times!
Theo. Still just as cracked as ever. Easily probably one of the best bassonists in the world
A superb performance by all, thank you
Danke viel mal darfur! Grusse dich von Deventer , Niederlan!de
We all love piano and violin concerto s, but how lovely to hear the bassoon centre stage. Why weren't there more compositions?
There are many, but you have to look for them!
Try searching the Concertos from Jolivet, Rota, Tomasi, Weber, Villa Lobos, Rossini, Hummel, Bitsch, Berwald, just citing a few!
And don’t forget Vivaldi’s several dozen!
Maybe because Mozart died too early.😢
@@ClassicusHomo You're probably right! Mozart just loved the bassoon and wrote extensively for it, especially in his major works. When it came time for him to write a wind concerto, guess which instrument he wrote for first...yep, you guessed it...this bassoon concerto is the first wind concerto he wrote.
Magnífico!!! Gracias hr sinfonie orchester. (Argentina)
Großartig! Danke!
You can’t hear me, but I’m clapping!!! Incredible

Mozart, est un miracle
C'est toujours merveilleux
Bref Mozart, c'est du Mozart.
Bravo! Bravissimo!
More than amizing you made my morning ♡
Great performance! Young guy really has mastered the bassoon! I played bassoon for a time and am impressed with his ability to make the notes punch on such a sonorous instrument. Good separation on the non-legato runs, even trills in correct time, great classical era phrasing. Ensemble is tight and expressive as always with hr-SO.
(Sad that COVID restrictions were that way, but I guess we all had to learn!)
Beautiful
Absolutely , Sensational. Boss!
