    Great test. Would be great to see the stats using your fitted 7 iron

    Great video Michael 👍 I used to have ping G20 burgundy do and hit left. Got fitted at Gainsborough and they fitted me with white dot. Now I hit everything with a weak left to right !! HELP!

    Great video. One comment and a video request. There is evidence that the more game improvement (perimeter weighting) a club has, the more the dynamic lie (toe down) it will become at impact. It would be interesting for you to compare this club vs a Ping type blade to see if the dynamic lie is different - my guess it is. The increased offset of the more game improvement iron will likely negate (some / all / more than all) of the difference and thus play into club fitting.

    Hi micheal. very usful infornmation as usual. drivers are toeup by 5dgrees is this kind of draw bias design only for drivers? less effective in direction though.while most of irons designed for horizontal impact.

    After much experimenting and testing I've worked out that I'm very similar to your iron settings. Plus 3/4 inch and 2 upright (I'm tall with long legs, average arm length). What are your thoughts on Fairway Woods Hybrids and Driver in this situation. Do you ignore the lie angle on these in your set? I know you can lengthen the shaft a bit which can effectively help the lie angle but I'm not keen on having to control a very long driver or wood?

    Hm this explains a lot. I was always hitting things right and my coach kept telling me I needed to get a more in to out swing path. Never really helped. I went for a fitting and they said my swing path was dead neutral but my swing was upright so they adjusted my club to be 3* upright. That still didn’t help. I just looked at my data from my fitting and my swing was 8* upright. So even tho they made my club more upright I needed to adjust my swing to get the last 5* would have been nice if the fitter told me that.

    Hi mike, talking about lie angles, should the club lie flat at address or slightly toe up or heel down ? And is this determined by the lie angle or correct amount of hip bend in posture ?

    • @12pharro
      @12pharro 5 років тому

      I'd go slightly toe up at address due to shaft droop during the swing

    Yep, lie angle makes a big difference with irons. Probably the two biggest reasons people need to get fit is to make sure they have the right lie angle for their dynamic lie at impact and right length of clubs. My super long eagle arms mean I need clubs 1/2" short and 1.5° to 2° flat even though I'm a "standard" height of 5'11". If I play "standard" clubs, I hit a much higher percentage of fat shots and tend to pull quite a few to the left as well, particularly with wedges.

    Hi Michael, are you planing on reviewing the Cobra Forged Tec Black one length irons any time soon? Interested to see if they help the height of 4 and 5 iron flight. Cheers :)

    Is not the main reason the ball is starting to ,right due to face pointing right. Thought hmt measured face angle between two points, so the face can be pointing at target but the loft right of target if the lie angle shows significant toe down. Thought this was what you were trying to prove in 5his test

    Mike, with your swing speed, I believe you fit into 120 DG- X100. Compared to standard S-300, the 120 will slightly droop more. Give it test I think I will be correct.

      Yes agree, didn’t have X available to put in for this test. Test was more about the difference between lies as opposed to getting exact lie for me

      I agree with what your doing, the general public does not understand correct club fitting. But for a low handicap player, distance to the first step on the shaft can make a big difference. The proper shaft is important, not just swing speed. Good work, your channel is one of the best for the English chaps!

    Do you think lie angle could influence strike location? As in, too upright of a club may cause toe-biased mishits?

    • @12pharro
      @12pharro 5 років тому

      I just experienced that! New clubs too upright and all off the toe! It was maddening!

    *ONE HUGE HUGE HUGE factor is YOUR 6'5" flat would NEVER work for you! Higher handset by anatomy alone, to make flat work your shaft would have to be extended for sure.*

    And how much is the "mental effect"?

  • @timbrown8170

    I assume too upright would be more spin to the left?

    • @12pharro
      @12pharro 5 років тому

      Upright makes the plane tilt of the club face to lean to the left. No such thing as sidespin. Only axis tilt. Kills me that these simulators still say sidespin. Golf balls aren't built like gyroscopes

    Despite being only 5'8" I needed a Green Dot for my G700s.

      So common, that’s why you can’t go of a static measurement, must always be dynamic 👍

      Michael Newton Golf Yes. If I went by PING’s “web-fit” I’d be a RED dot.
