For five years, when he was at boarding school, my father woke up to the sound of Arthur Grumiaux playing Bruch's 1st violin concerto. All through his life, he owned a number of Grumiaux' recordings, and considered these the best ever made. My father passed away many years ago but I still think he was absolutely right in this regard.
Very crisp and precise performance. This piece of music is extremely difficult to play well even by today's standard. This soloist did a wonderful job and I enjoy a lot.
