Man I ended up keeping the OnePlus and I love it. Lighter than the Z fold, better cameras and better screens. Oh! And the battery is just the best! I'm definitely returning my Z fold 5
I will tell you after a few more days of using the open it's really starting to grow on me. I haven't picked up the fold 5 yet. It's so hard to explain but I feel like the OnePlus open has some fun factor to it that the fold doesn't.
I have had my Open for two months. It is phenomenal! I had one issue, I sent it in to have them kook at it. I got a NEW one back FOUR DAYS LATER. just love this damn phone.
I was a longtime ZFold user having the ZFold 5 most recent and switched over to the OnePlus Open and have no regrets! It is simply an amazing device, I really appreciate the larger outside display and the better cameras are nice as well. Charging speeds of the Open are amazing too!
Thanks for the video. I had the Samsung Fold4, Fold5 (twice) and the Pixel Fold (twice). Waiting for the OP Open to arrive tomorrow. Can't wait to see it for myself.
@@SammyGeek ha!! Good to find people who get it. I have to say: unpopular opinion, but it didn't do it for me. Love the size of the outside screen, and it worked fine, but there is a certain polish to Samsung hardware and software that is really hard to walk away from! My S23 Ultra just feels so premium in the hand without a case. I love it, it is like fine jewelry. The OP Open didn't give me that vibe. And for that price (and now you can get the Z Fold 5 for the same or lower with holiday deals), it should hit that "premium feel" checkbox. I took the Z Fold 5 to Greece on vacation as my primary phone, and the pictures are amazing. I do like the slight over saturation that Sammy does, tbh.
@@WinterSoldier0315 I also loved my s23. I'm half tempted to get another one just to make the switch when I get bored. For me at the moment, the OnePlus open seems to be the Swiss army knife since it seems to check all the boxes of any phone I would want. It has the great front display when I need it, it takes great pictures like the s23, and then of course the inside display is like a small tablet. It's kind of the jack of all trades is the way I see it. I'm coming to my final conclusion that 90% of the time if someone already has a fold five I would absolutely not recommend the OnePlus open unless they are a super phone geek like us. I'm going to gather my thoughts and put out a video probably in the next few days. Think I have a few things that I can share that will really help people make a decision which way to go....
@@SammyGeek I think you are right about the Fold 5 owners getting the OP. Since Samsung has had 5 years to refine and update software and hardware, and they are such a huge company with research $$, it makes sense they have turned out a refined product. I agree with the Swiss Army Knife analogy for the OP Open. I love using themes on my Samsung phones and also all the extras that Good Lock offers to customize.
No. The only advantage the Open has is the battery and camera hardware. Still, both have not proven they are far better than the Z. A wider second screen is a preference. Why is that so difficult to understand? You guys write as if Samsung can't make a fold with a bigger screen. It's a choice they made with consumer feedback. Millions of feedback from owners which is something OnePlus doesn't have. Also, the Z5 looks like it is more durable than the Open and Samsung's reach goes much further. I don't have to send my Z4 across the Atlantic to get fixedbif it breaks. I can just take a train ride to downtown Manhattan.

I disagree. A wider screen is objectively better to use. Better camera system, longer battery life, lighter and thinner body. These are facts that make the OnePlus a better folding device. Not a preference but hard facts. In any case and even though I disagree with you, I respect your opinion. If you prefer using the Fold 5, enjoy it. @@efechief2659
Were you able to get the OnePlus Open for less than $1000? If so, where? I looked on the Swappa site you suggested but i can only find it for over $1000 there. I have the Fold 5 and I think I want to switch but the Open still seems really expensive rn. I know i can trade my Fold 5 in and get the Open cheaper, but im afraid of trading it jic the Open isnt what I expect
I paid well over $1,000 but still felt like I got a pretty solid deal. I've been testing it for quite some time I should jump back on and leave an update. So far I did a bunch of camera tests between the fold five and the open. Quite honestly I probably would have just kept the fold five if it wasn't for the pictures showing my son's hair as being reddish when it's actually blonde. For whatever reason the camera on the open shows more natural colors. I'll probably try and show those pictures when I post my next little review...
One thing I can tell you right now, the video quality on that OnePlus is terrible. I have this video on the highest quality setting it will play and it looks like crap. I will stick with my Z fold 5
I was kind of crushed with your last video because my One Plus was in the mail. I am a phone junkie myself. Thanks for the redemption video. I have only spent a few hours with this phone.
I know I was trying to be as fair as possible between the two phones, but I really think they're BOTH great. I know this video was a bit long-winded, but I felt like I needed to explain and show love for both the phones. I still feel like the Samsung is the safer bet, however this open is a treat to use. I've been using it for a few days now and I'm really starting to love it.
@SammyGeek Hi . You know on the fold 5 when you are taking a picture and have the big screen open you can press cover screen preview. It's so the person you are taking a picture of can see themselves before the photo. Tysm
i see what u mean . make the hard earned money worth. im on oneplus open now, all good but i think this will be my last, the phone is really good but the customer service is really suck, i felt like its too much of a hassle to deal with their customer service, im just crossing my finger that i wont need to be calling them soon.
For sure, I'm so torn between is reliability and service being more important, or fun factor and a bit of the unknown. I'm really enjoying the fun factor of this OnePlus open and haven't had any issues yet. They're both a ton of cash so I'll have to figure out my plan in the next month.
Open cover screen is nice but it makes the inside screen too square and much worse than Fold 5 in usability. You buy a foldable for the inside screen. So fold 5 is still the best phone giving the best compromise of both cover and inside screen.
@@SammyGeek nice, I hope the fog lense issue don't come back. I haven't experienced it yet. Bit Chicago ain't too cold yet but I don't it'll bother me since I'm not a picture guy like that.

Dude the oneplus is a much better device than the Samsung. Period. The fold 5 looks and feels dated now. Only a diehard fanboy can say otherwise.
Yeah, the OnePlus Open feels like a better value because you are truly getting 2 devices in one. Legit usable front screen.
