I have never seen your channel but I love how straight to the point you are. You are very cut and dry. Keep being simple and you will go far, buddy. Most people don't care about every bell and whistle and I'm one of them. I had both because if I was going to spend the money I wanted to choose between the two but I personally prefer the z fold based off how it feels in my hands and how easy it is to put in my pocket. However, the aspect ratio on the OnePlus open is better
As a non content creator, as an average user, UA-cam, Instagram, gaming, etc, switching from the fold, the open is a better upgrade for an average user. If u want a powerhouse app eater, sure Samsung, but not everyone is like you 😅
Great video! I still have the Fold 3, because I didn't think Samsung did enough to warrant me upgrading. Then the OnePlus Open came along and I had a lot of interest, but you helped me determine that there were features I really needed on even my Fold 3, that the Open just did not have. So I am waiting on the next iterations of these phones until I upgrade. I appreciate you answering my questions on the your last video, that made that decision easier, because there was a lot of buzz regarding the Open... but it just would not suit my use-case.
I've been so torn thinking about switching to the Open from my Fold 5 for various reasons. The Open is the only phone that has even come close to making me consider getting rid of my Fold since I've had a Fold since the second generation. I kept going back and forth between if I should get the Open and trade in my Fold 5 in. Everyone you see online says to get the Open. But I think your video said it best. Thank you for helping me make up my mind to stick with my Fold 5 as you're right it really is superior even if the open is a good phone.
mad respect bro! love the detailed videos and unbiased opinion. I'm using the Fold 5 right now and returned the OPO because it just wasn't for me. Both devices are solid devices for different crowds. I love the fold 5 with its more robust customization capabilities and better software (in my opinion). I was interested in the OPO because of its better hardware but the software was just missing and inconsistent for me. Some people don't care about that so it's perfect for them. The different opinions online, specially on reddit, that one destroys the other in every way is just ridiculous. Again, both are very solid devices but just for different crowds.
I'm with you both. iPhone people would love OnePlus. But Samsung people who appreciate all the extra things only Samsung software can do will probably be disappointed in what they're giving up for the hardware. And I'm sure Samsung is going to up their game next year with this competition.
I nearly bought the OnePlus open, but honestly I know wireless charging is not truly wireless like OnePlus said, but I use it a lot, and also the lack of accessories for this phone I was like nah gonna wait for the z fold 6.
Love my fold 5. The outside screen i THOUGHT would be an issue but i love it. I agree with your points and i think the one plus open is a nice phone too. Dex has been a game changer for me especially when using my viture xr glasses I've been able to work remotely just by connecting a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
I have the legion phone. Thinking about the oneplus for the bigger outside screen, the crease showing less, IR blaster and i think the battery is better
Battery is still good. The customization doesn't impact battery that much in my experience, if anything it can impact overall smoothness when navigating the os if you do the absolute most customizations. But even then the impact isn't that bad.
Here is my one thing...and before I get to that, loved the review, my guy. Spotted the Toronto accent right away. But, music. Wireless. No one ever talks about this. But if you have expensive headphones, with aptx HD, aptx adaptive or aptx lossless, one plus wins. And Samsung could make it available. Snapdragon-Qualcolm chips created and supports those codecs. Licensing fee is maybe $10. At this price point, who would notice. I can't support Samsung bricking my phone for their silky proprietary codec. Headphones are almost as much as the phone. So...really? Just a bad look.
@@hugocruz2380yo I honestly shouldn’t be considering buying either of these phones but would you still say the one plus open takes the lead over zfold 5?? I’m REALLY tryna decide I’ve only ever had iPhone and shitty android.

I think the samsung is a safer bet. Some good points made on this video re software and flexibility. In my country ireland the Fold 5 can be picked up brand new for 1100e from small phone shops with registered 2yr warranty. Oneplus is still 1600 or 1800e only direct from oneplus. Samsung is repairable anywhere but the oneplus has to be mailed back and only has 1yr std warranty. I also don't think a narrow screen is a downside, look at it like a bonus.
I love my zfold 5! Personally I think it's the perfect aspect ratio. The ONLY thing holding it back is the cameras! The main lens is great. It would be nice if it had a bigger lens but it's still great. But the ultra wide is mid at best and the 3X lens is trash. I don't really mind the ultra wide but Samsung does need to put a 50/64 MP 3X periscope lens if they're going to stay competitive imo
I think they're both good in their own ways. The V2 is an amazing hardware and production feat, but based on what I've seen, I think the fold 5's software is still better. The mate x5 is super premium but really expensive and is harder to get than the rest, plus it lacks all the Google stuff. It comes down to what compromises you're willing to accept.
Grest video. I agree alot of your points about the F5's advantages including that the Open's massive camera bump is a detriment when holding it one handed. I ultimately went witht the Open because of better camera and gaming. I like to play CodM and Warzone Mobile (in 4:3 aspect ratio) and the Open handles these games significabtly better (not perfect) than the 5.
