WOW! and she is so young. It was great watching this lady in action. Saving things of our past. A prime reason I love the UK. They don't destroy they redo keeping the past alive.
What an absolute delight to bring this lamp back to life and let it shine! Interesting to think how such a small part was so effective and critical. A rare and fitting tribute to those incredibly brave (and often unrecognised) RAF wireless op's and navigators, fighting in the most precarious of odds. Love to own this piece of history, but it'll be snapped up.
There are few people with the matching aeroplane; be happy that you were not affected by the collecting bug, and were on the lookout for a plane for your lamp; much more capital intense. - Have A Nice Day.
a parabolic light bulb with a back reflector would have been nicer and better for "reading air flight path maps" such an (awful light bulb) as the authentic thing in those days.
Anything is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Just look at the "rare" heaps of rust with Ford badges on being sold on Ebay. And the sellers descriptions are something else. "Could be back on the road with a couple of weekends work - no time wasters or tyre kickers - I'm in no rush to sell and I know what these are worth" Drew obviously makes a good living out of what he does. But I'm sure he's also had his fingers burned on a few occasions.
I hate you (noisy neighbour) but, remember on eBay there are plenty of millionaires perusing and so some prices paid are just "rich man's world". - Have A Nice Day.
Looks like there are a lot of Idiots out there with more money than Sense! If you want a smile try salvage hunters - give a fiver, it's a parady, let me know what you think? Cheers Vince.
It's a lamp ffs, the war brought 100 of thousands of men that seen their brothers in arms die for the cause and no one took the time to sit with them, and here everyone is, lusting over a lamp that did nothing but be part of a tool.
How does he know its seen action. If it had a bullet hole it would be interesting. Its just an old lamp that could do with a paint job.. Means so much to Drew he wants to sell it for 1000 quid. Its a total scam... My uncle was shot down and killed in a hurricane during ww2. I think he'd be horrified to know some slimeball phsudo antique dealer would be profiteering off bits of his plane... My grandad was in the RFC in the first world war, going up over the trenches in a balloon and phoning down the german gun positions as snipers took pot shots at him. He too would be horrified to see the relics of his bravery being touted for ten times its worth like someone robbing the dead for personal profit... If Drew had any decency he donate it for free to the Imperial war museum...
I watched this episode last night. I thought it was satire tbh. Firstly, he paid £175 for it? Secondly, he paid £240 to restore it??? Thirdly, he valued it at £1000?????!!!!!!!?????? I mean seriously, you wouldn't even buy that at a car boot sale for £10. Just goes to show how utterly stupid some people are.
Not as stupid as buying an Ikea lamp and throwing it away in 6 months. Then again i wouldnt pay a £1000 pounds for it i would however pay £ 80 and restore it myself.
I bought a model 60 today for £30, although it's a little different and not as old or have the same history it's mostly the same. Seems like he paid a ridiculous amount just for the history rather than the lamp itself. Then again due to his show he has a lot more clients and potential buyers with more money than the average buyer or member of public sooo... 🤷♂️
Excellent to see someone so young restoring vintage equipment

Drew, you find the most iconic, interesting pieces.
If only that lamp could talk, good job 👌👍🏻
I love that that tiny lamp survived. Good for her!

Beautiful restoration.
The hardware Jolene sourced was amazing. Looks exactly like an old school lamp with all the proper bits and pieces👍🙂
Never in the field of ww2 RAF collecting, so much was asked by one for so few parts.
Really interesting!!!!!
Very cool new video.
Good vid.
Brava !e la lampada è venuta bene 👍
Just good to watch, every episode not my thing at all but like Netflix keep watching 👀 some thing additive there .
I love these programmes and the restorers are fantastic but i wish Drew would actually say what he sells these things for once restored!
He said £1000, he has a website for his shop, I suppose you could look.
WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT HOW LUXO JR (Pixar Lamp) IS MADE!!!
You are my people!😎😁
I sold one on eBay for £500, I think I’ve been had

I just picked a model 90 up for £30 the other day, that's what brought me here.
Can't wait to restore it!

This girlie has done an outstanding job, but i thought Drew had a boy repairer
