Wow what a collection of parts. That bloke is a real collector who’s obviously passionate about these HT&S lamps. I’ll have to watch the entire episode now.
Got one of these with an early vented shade from an antique centre in Eastbourne about thirty years ago. It was twelve quid and had the springs and the friction dampers etc mounted on a nice big Ali billet turned nicely. Kicking around in the garage for years as it wasn’t ‘ proper’ until I discovered what it actually was and o cleaned it up polished the stripped shade and base and it’s in the bedroom now.
I loved the tiny lamp! It shined on such bravery. Let us never forget WWII. Thanks,

I would suggest that the guy that had all the knowledge, had restored lots of them and supplied all the missing parts possibly could have done a better job of restoring it?
I can’t speak for Drew, but as a previous business owner, finding the absolutely perfect restorers of things was a hard battle. Lost so much money with folks who didn’t know what they were doing. It took a lifetime to find people who can actually do what needs to be done without ruining your item…your investment. This Discovery show overlooks these things in there TV serious…never mentions it🤷

Why pick the still wrapped piece for the lamp unless you are going to attach it under the stand to prove authenticity? Otherwise it was a waste of a museum item.

My Grandfather and Dad had Anglepoise lamps. I have been able to keep only one. They were stout, not the cheap ones, so the "family" each got one.

Why not repaint the components first?
Antique value, ever smell WWII Electronics?
I grew up playing with a bunch of it. Repop crinkle paint is not even close to that original lead Paint. Paint a car, try to repaint this it would not be the same.
Check out a few restoration channels here on UA-cam: the work is amazing, but the pieces often lose their character - they look brand new (if it’s done really well) and quite boring. You don’t want an original that looks like a reproduction, you want something that shows its history a little bit - or a lot, in this case.
