That was a very polite and respectful way of saying he is happy with his faith.
The Muslims are saying that Jordan Peterson was just afraid that if Muslims gave him arguments for Islam that he would be converted.
Muslims think that how can you know that Islam is not true if you have not tried or heard about it to decide.
Being happy does not mean I follow the truth!

What an outstanding declaration: “The proof of faith is the attractiveness of its adherents.”
“And they will know you are my disciples when you love each other as I have done.”
Drugs are attractive.
@PeaceNLove Indeed. I have to disagree with Jordan on this one, that the attractiveness of a faith’s adherents is proof of the faith, because, as you said, no one is perfect. It is definitely a good general indicator, but certainly not proof, per se. The attractiveness of religious adherents is generally based on how mature they are in the faith, so if you interact with an immature, selfish, struggling Christian, you could be turned off Christianity entirely - if that’s your measuring stick. Does that mean the religion is therefore false? As apostle Paul would say, “by no means!”
I am a Christian, but I struggle greatly at times with some of my besetting sins and it pains me to think that someone would observe me and reject Christianity based on my sinfulness. Jesus came for the sick, not the healthy. Jesus is the example, not me. Although I pray to be the best shining light that I can be. If I can’t be a great example, at the very least I can show humility.
@@MaxShibby
Well, prof Peterson has a point actually. Yes, all people do make stupid things and sin all the time, but even there there is a gradation, right?
You can't really say you'll become a christian because of Charlie Manson (probably baptized when he was a kid), but you're damn sure you'll want to become a christian if you meet, say, St Nicholas or Porphyrios of Kafsokalyvia.
We are all God's disciples. If people, judging from our actions, don't see anything special about Christ, it is ON US. This christian teaching is as old as the Bible, my friend!
"You are the salt of the Earth", "You are the light of the world"...etc. Small amount of people is worthy of this. Peterson is spot on on this!
@@Nemija I love what you said! And I actually agree with basically all of it! I guess it was JP’s use of the word “proof” that put me off a bit. As Christian’s we are totally supposed to be a light to the world - that is 100% what happens when we are truly led by the Holy Spirit. I guess my perspective of JP’s comment was, if someone is looking at how brightly someone shines in order to choose which religion to believe, as proof of its validity…. I dunno. What if that person they’re looking at falls into sin at some point and becomes a poor example? I don’t think that proves that it’s false. Some of my kindest most generous friends are atheists. Is that proof there is no God? No. Absolutely Christian’s should shine, but I hesitate to call it proof as Christian’s also are susceptible to sin and can fall. So that’s why I said it’s definitely an indicator, but it’s one of many that are “proof” of Christianity.
@@MaxShibby
I know, I know. People are simply like that. They will look at (into) you and subconsciously look for your God, or any other value / virtue that you preach publicly.
It's not THE proof, right? But, to people it will be interpreted as a proof of some kind. It's the nature of the world we live in. Everyone wants the deeds.
Thats the most polite way of saying....no
True. But Peterson is genuine and thoughtful. He's really, really thought about this. He gives the question respect.

Religious books promoting harmony and peace? No way koran and bible are like a rabid wild animal biting a human to give him wisdom. Religious books are a scourge to humanity.
"the proof of faith is the attractiveness of its adherents"
If someone claims to be a genuine follower of a faith/religion and they aren't good people, they don't just do themselves a disservice, they do the entire faith a disservice.
Exactly. Muslims only want to be taken seriously in the west and for that they are trying to rally support. They can't see that Muslim majority countries are doing the worst at this point in time. As far as I understand Islam the prophet didn't ask for expansion of religion across the universe, he wanted social justice. That's not possible if privileged Muslims run away from their problems and pursue even greater privileges in the west. The western society looking down on us is a consequence of our own selfishness and lack of compassion towards people of our own ummah. Having JP come over to our faith won't help.

@@pacolugo3846 john 17:3";Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the ONLY true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."
so why you're not listening to jesus peace and blessing be upon him and instead of worchiping the only true god that he meantions you're worchiping him
@@khedimimohamednazim1839 - Jesus Christ isn't saying in this particular verse in John 17: 3 to worship.
He is saying in this particular verse what ETERNAL LIFE is about.
Eternal life is knowing the Father and the Son to make John 17: 3 short.
So, why aren't you listening to him to know the Father and the Son?
Without knowing the Son, nobody can know the Father.
Matthew 11: 27,
" All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him"
So, why haven't you known the Son to know the Father?
You know that Muhammad married his adopted son's wife Zaynab after her divorce from Zayd.
Zayd didn't have any right to divorce his wife Zaynab according to Jesus Christ in Matthew 5: 32 and Muhammad did not have any right to marry Zaynab according to Jesus Christ in Matthew 5: 32.
You may ask why.
Jesus Christ taught that the REASON for divorce is sexual immorality.
That is, if you cheat your spouse by sleeping with someone else while you are married, you have committed sexual immorality.
Zaynab never did that while she was married to Zayd. Yet, Zayd divorced a sexually faithful woman and Muhammad married her and thus Zaynab became the victim of adultery by her marriage to Muhammad and Muhammad is the adulterer responsible for it in the name of marriage.
In short, you can't just divorce your spouse just because you don't like her or him anymore according to Jesus Christ. It has to be for a valid reason and the reason being sexual immorality aka sexual unfaithfulness.
That never happened and hence, in God's eyes (since Jesus said his teachings came from the Father), Muhammad married a woman who was still married in God's eyes even though there was divorce and remarriage in man's eyes.
Now, let us read Matthew 5: 32 from Jesus Christ,
"But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery, and
whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery."
Let's apply Muhammad's life into Matthew 5: 32 and see what happens here.
But I say to you that everyone (Zayd) who divorces his wife (Zaynab), except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her (Zaynab) commit adultery, and
whoever (Muhammad) marries a divorced woman (Zaynab) commits adultery.
So, Christ teaches us that Muhammad is an adulterer in God's eyes. So, why are you not listening to Christ to know the Father who spoke through him?
John 7: 16, "Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me."
So, basically, why aren't you listening to the Father's teachings that people like Muhammad is an adulterer?

It is a very complicated question. One grows up in a family and perhaps a whole community that follows a specific religion. The point of the discussion was to find common things muslims and christians could agree upon and I think to this extent it has aready succeeded in its purpose to celebrate what we can agree upon.
That sounds really nice and i somewhat agree, but the truth is way beyond tolerance, each faith has it's own practices...., and so people must do some research and see which faith is actually the truth, doesn't matter if you grew up in a Christian family or Jewish family or muslim family, the same applies in every situation, seeking the truth, what's crazy is that in the Christian side of the world it is always conveyed that people should not seek the truth outside of themselves, and i mean religion by saying that, but as someone who was a Christian and then became an atheist because Christianity just doesn't make any sense and the amount of historical and scientific mistakes in the Bible was overwhelming to me that had to say this is definitely not from god the all knowing, about 3 years ago i came by a video on youtube which was a debate between a muslim and a very known atheist, the way the muslim guy answered every question and made me realize that the world nust not come from nothing, made me do more research and in the time of the pandemic since i had a lot of time, i dove deeper in the islamic faith, and became a muslim not a very long time ago, what I'm trying to say is, trying to just find the similarities can never be the only true solution, people must reunite and be one even if it sounds impossible, but religion is the best first step.

Spot on. Although subjective this is prophetic advice for Da'is.
Do our popular Da'is reflect the manner of our beloved Prophet Muhammad? (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) I know some that present themselves with excellent character. Then I know some who rant, complain, backbite, transgress and argue aggressively to the point where it's ugly and damaging.

76 Medicine
(6)Chapter: To treat with the urine of camels(6)باب الدَّوَاءِ بِأَبْوَالِ الإِبِلِ
Sahih al-Bukhari 5686
Narrated Anas:
The climate of Medina did not suit some people, so the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered them to follow his shepherd, i.e. his camels, and drink their milk and urine (as a medicine). So they followed the shepherd that is the camels and drank their milk and urine till their bodies became healthy. Then they killed the shepherd and drove away the camels. When the news reached the Prophet (ﷺ) he sent some people in their pursuit. When they were brought, he cut their hands and feet and their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron.

If you were a detective at a crime scene, you would be the inexperienced kind that sees a piece of evidence and immediately accuses the person who owns the evidence as the culprit. While other, more experienced detectives would remove their personal lens, and look at the crime scene through the lens of those involved, and gain a deeper more accurate understanding of the crime before identifying the actual guilty party. Stop being the inexperienced detective.
@@dom879 so cutting off hands and feet and burning peoples eyes is actually the right thing to do after the camel pee incident from an experienced detective’s perspective, I gather?
Or is the Hadith not true?
Or is it just the websites I found are not telling the truth?
The copy paste was my own contraption from doing a google search of the Hadith in question. It appears that Muslims reject all Hadith that paint Muhammad in a negative light, which makes me conclude that they have a legendary, non historical Muhammad in their minds that no one is allowed to criticize. Does that sound like something I should think makes sense?

All faith meet at the same place . I feel very at home sitting in a synagogue with my Jewish friends talking about how God is good and how we are grateful to have him bless our life. I did the same amongst Muslims friends in mosques. To me all religions and faith meet at the same core. We realize how we are similar when we talk to each other and truly listen to one another. The way we live our faith might differ in its form but the content of our faith is similarly the same when practiced for the right reasons I think and that is to remind ourselves or to contemplate the very humble idea that something is greater than us.

If you act in accordance with a religions ideals but don’t proclaim yourself to that religion, you are still in a sense part of that religion
In Christianity when it comes to ppl who simply act in accordance with ideals of faith with no real proclamation or claim to it, Jesus said...
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ Mathew 7:21-23
That’s arguable in Islam you need to be committed fully to it to the point it’s established that one needs to recite the shahadah
justin tyson wrote, _"If you act in accordance with a religions ideals but don’t proclaim yourself to that religion, you are still in a sense part of that religion"_
Not true. In logic, we sometimes refer to 'necessary' and 'sufficient'. It could be the case that for a particular recipe, water is 'necessary' in order to create the food that results from the recipe. But, if water is all we have, it isn't 'sufficient' to produce that food. In your comment, the 'acting in accordance' part is like the water: it may be 'necessary' action that's consistent with what the religion may require, but it's almost certainly not 'sufficient' to 'qualify' one as 'part of that religion'.
i fail to understand this comment, if you dont mind further elaborating on it. if you act in accordance with say Christianity's ideals, that entails you believing that Jesus is God, which makes you a Christian and a part of that religion. so how could one act in accordance with a religion's ideals, and yet not be a part of said religion??
@@apan990 Whose comment are you referring to?
