I'm a non Muslim, but after watching your discussion with Jordan Peterson, I bought a book that is a version of the quran that is simplified for people like myself that wouldn't be able to comprehend the actual quran. Your conversation piqued my interest enough to do that.
JP's wife: Did you eat your lunch? JP: Well, that depends. First of all I am not sure about this question. To start with what do you mean by "did", " you", "eat", " lunch"? The devils are always in the details but if you look carefully, you cant eat water. If I drink soup for lunch would it be considered eating? I am not sure about the answer to this question :(
Too be honest with all respect. After this interview/debate i am even more gratefull for islam. Islam is just so simple/pure/direct to the point. Whenever jordan peterson was talking i was just like what is this man talking about. And it is not that i dont understand his words, but he couldnt just answer any simple question directly.

I am a Christian that grew up in East Dearborn. I am 40 years old now and after all this time and reflecting the past few years, we are completely wrong about each other. Mind you, we grew up fighting Muslims in our neighborhood because we were outnumbered. The white boys of East Dearborn in the '90s. But over time the fighting stopped and we got to know each other a little better. A lot sooner than the rest of the country. This hatred towards each other was not brought on by normal people of both religions. It was the power that be in this case, the military complex of the United States of America. The people of the Middle East were lied to the American people were lied to and it created this rhetoric and misunderstanding to such a large degree that it had created monsters on both sides. What you believe in, without proof, is an emotional question. Peterson is already a believing Christian so that reaction is perfectly normal. It’s also not useful to keep on knocking on that door once he revealed he wasn’t interested.
@@thetrax3482 No door was being knocked it was a simple question "what is the purpose of life". You'd think because he's a believing Christian he'd give an answer relevant to his religion. Instead he gives a vague answer to dodge any conflict. Just pointing out what happened.
@@3ngineer627 sorry but are you daft. The door was being repeatedly knocked and unnecessarily so. ‘What is the purpose of existence’ or the purpose of life is a loaded question, with a pre supposed answer. Every person is free to assign an individual purpose to their life, and if you believe that to be Islam that’s fine. But that’s all that really is: your belief. Not a fact. Mohammed, I am a long time subscriber and a fan of your message of Islam, however, watching this full conversation on JPs channel made me want to make a recommendation, which is to let your guests talk, let them finish their line of thought before you add on to their statement or change the direction of the conversation. After reading the comments here I just want to say that I wish more people could treat other people and different views with respect and a sincere desire to understand. If around the vast world, everyone prances around claiming that they are the best, and that only people who agree specifically with themselves are correct, then we reveal our lack of awareness.... not our own greatness.

@@1994mrmysteryman perception is a funny thing. As someone who has studied Peterson's thought deeply for years, I get where he is coming from. He tries to be very specific about what he means, especially when talking about abstract concepts. He understands the limitations of language, and of his own capacity to figure things out. I understands how it can be strange for people who aren't used to that kind of communication, but in philosophy often an entire book will be devoted to a single word or two, e.g. Neonachean Ethics, Being and Time, On Truth, Beyond Good and Evil. People who have thought deeply about their words have a lot to convey when using words that most people take for granted.
@@An123Observer I have followed him extensively too and have been a fan for ages. Not every concept in this video was abstract but he deliberately goes out of his way to make it abstract and confusing, especially if he doesn't like the question or doesn't wish to answer it. There are certain things that are concrete and should be handled as such. Is the earth flat? Well, what do you mean flat? As in, do you think it's somewhat spherical in shape or is it like a plate? Well, what do you mean spherical? What do you mean plate? He does this constantly. There are some places where specificity is required. But he overdoes it drastically. He exaggerates the complexity of a question if he wants to avoid it. What do you mean by "truth"? What do you mean by "lie"? What do you mean by "belief". But then he starts talking about "transcendence" and other abstract concepts and throws his whole scrutinising process out the window when it suits him.

I think with JP his "Conquest of Makkah" moment hasn't yet come. Right now, Islam is on its pre-conquest of Makkah stage, we are not a powerful Ummah militarily. Alhumdulillah we have very very strong individuals in the ummah, and we have strong intellectual grounding, but our intellectual stance isn't in the mainstream yet. I think for a lot of people, like JP they are in need of that "conquest of makkah" moment.

To achieve global world peace and unity, one common religion acceptable to all is a necessity. Let's unite on what we can all agree on, including muslims, buddhists, hindus, christians, jews, atheists: 1) Peace (outlaw war) 2) Compassion (don't hurt yourself or others, help others when possible) 3) Charity (we all give of our surplus in order to help one another) 4) Care for young, old, sick and disabled (financed through redistributing charity) 5) Worship (each can worship as they please, as long as they don't hurt one another, nor attempt to convert others. Atheists can "worship" however they please as well, it could be celebrating science, human advancement or however they see fit) I think the above 5 points are a good summary of the key points in all world religions, as well as "humane ethics/morality" as purported by science and intellectuals (which atheists also respect). We're all in this together. One world, one planet, one family. Let's unite through our commonalities and what we can all agree on, and settle for the one world religion outlined above God bless you all!

According to Yusuf Ali the Arabic word for "a few years," Bidh'un, signifies a period of three to nine years; yet according to some scholars the victory did not come until nearly twelve years later. The Persians defeated the Byzantines and captured Jerusalem at about A.D. 614 or 615. The Byzantine counter-offensive did not begin until A.D. 622 and the victory was not complete until A.D. 625, making it a period between ten to eleven years, not "a few years" alluded to in the Quran. In fact, the Romans did not become "permanently victorious" until the signing of the peace with Khosrow’s son in 628, since Khosrow rallied his forces in 626 and was defeated and executed in 628. This means that it took the Romans 15-16 years to permanently conquer the Persians.

In my opinion its because we lack leaders in muslim communities. For example any muslim country is messed up in regards to politics. Same as the Imams in regards with their work to the youth. And sheikhs like mufti menk are kinda pleasing the narrative of feminists. Muslim communities are so fast to divide themselves because of discussions… but all they need to do is concentrate on the Quran and sunna. All those factors are the reason why muslim brothers are enjoying to listen to people like Tate and Jordan. In order to go forward, we must recognize this and go about our commonalities and not our differences.

Is the earth flat?
Well, what do you mean flat?
As in, do you think it's somewhat spherical in shape or is it like a plate?
Well, what do you mean spherical? What do you mean plate?

This guy is like the people of Quraish who rejected Islam. I think he is afraid to leave the religion of his forefathers. I think he has concerns about what others would think. What he has built so far and his audiences would be affected if he converts. This is my opinion.
At this point i see JP just talks a lot without sayin anything.Truth is simple and easy to explain.
Jordan seemed very lost specially in this discussion, he literally asked the 5 Ws of How, What, Where, Why, When.
Man that’s rough seeing him struggle and keeping his stigma.
I enjoyed this discussion, Brother have Jordan Peterson more in your Podcast.. Thank you Jordan Peterson for attending the Muslim Podcast.
I like JPs open minnendes and coming to the UK to speak in a mosque to you. But on an intellectual way, most of his statements and answers are very vague and questionable. The fact that nearly no question was answered „directly“ and he drifted to other topics was really irritating.
To achieve global world peace and unity, one common religion acceptable to all is a necessity. Let's unite on what we can all agree on, including muslims, buddhists, hindus, christians, jews, atheists:
1) Peace (outlaw war)
2) Compassion (don't hurt yourself or others, help others when possible)
3) Charity (we all give of our surplus in order to help one another)
4) Care for young, old, sick and disabled (financed through redistributing charity)
5) Worship (each can worship as they please, as long as they don't hurt one another, nor attempt to convert others. Atheists can "worship" however they please as well, it could be celebrating science, human advancement or however they see fit)
I think the above 5 points are a good summary of the key points in all world religions, as well as "humane ethics/morality" as purported by science and intellectuals (which atheists also respect).
We're all in this together. One world, one planet, one family. Let's unite through our commonalities and what we can all agree on, and settle for the one world religion outlined above
God bless you all!
Peterson is like the Beauty Queen contestant who answers that she wants World Peace and her greatest ambition is to be a make up artists for celebrities.
JP is the definition of, "Speaking much and saying little."
Who answers, "What's the purpose of life," with, "Things are shaky on many fronts and we wanna have an abundant world where everyone has something, but we are doubtful about that and retreating into corners. We are not addressing the elephants in the room; you have to do that in the spirit of ignorance. Lets think about what unites the abrahamic faith..."
Bro give an answer, throw out the word salad
Desperate is the name of Islam!
Why does he always mention peace as a purpose when it comes to Islam? Huge bias against Islam.
The fact that Jordan kept deviating from the main point of the argument and Muhammad Hijab kept reminding him "I'm well informed of your psychological mediocrity",is what reveals who is exactly bold and upon truth.
Jordan’s so funny how he talks lol
hypocrite ...when he on campus ,love mouthing off to young lads that MUHAMMAD is a killer an Al-AQsa needs to be taken over by the Jews an what's not .
toddler emotions
Total garbage...
What do mean by....
They both are well educated n highly intelligent , well spoken n accepts their weaknesses
But what I don't understand Is that JP is a clinical psychologist but it's so easy to see what Islam really is .
What are they scared of to become a Muslim as per Qur'an n hadith n not the different sects.
It's in the Qur'an. Loud n clear
Does JP seriously consider himself agreable? He goes round and round and right and left. If things were this confusing, we would never understand any religion.
For all, please do not trust advertisers on UA-cam and invest your money blindly just because they can speak like concerned Muslims. Research before you invest.
If you got cheated, report to fraud prevention agencies.
JP is in denial.... he knows the truth, smart man he is....
Being smart has nothing to do with it.
"Do you not see that Allah has made subject to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and amply bestowed upon you His favors, [both] apparent and unapparent? But of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening Book [from Him]. ( Qur’ān 31:20)
Islam does not dissect life under the microscope like Philosphers or Psychologists do, but surprisingly, it gives you the most easiest , clearest, practical, logical, concise and perfect solutions.
For instance, you are supposed to say the prayers in the morning and evening from the Sunnah .
"In the Name of Allah, Who with His Name nothing can cause harm in the earth nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing".
The Prophet (SallaAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said that reciting this supplication three times in the morning and evening will protect a person, such that nothing can harm him, and no calamity shall befall him.
That suffices all the calamities that you can think of .
(Abu Dawud, : 5088 )
Jordan Peterson is the type of person, you never get an answer from! If he was my teacher, I would surely fail.
Subhaanallaah
I don’t get the muslim obsession with Jordan Peterson. Sure he’s educated, but he’s all over the place emotionally. Also we know who he is backed by so at the end of the day, his best interests lie with those who monetise him.
100%
In my opinion its because we lack leaders in muslim communities. For example any muslim country is messed up in regards to politics. Same as the Imams in regards with their work to the youth.
And sheikhs like mufti menk are kinda pleasing the narrative of feminists.
Muslim communities are so fast to divide themselves because of discussions… but all they need to do is concentrate on the Quran and sunna.
All those factors are the reason why muslim brothers are enjoying to listen to people like Tate and Jordan. Because they stand on the superficial for unity, manhood, values, logical thinking and many more. They do a little what islam wants from us… so yeah. I sadly totally get why they are hearing those individuals full of fault in their logic
@@Adam-kh9rb 1 month later…
A must watch, dr. Gabor Mate's opinion of JP (GM is Canadian physician best seller of +6 books and renowned speaker).
He’s humble now, but earlier on , he was spouting nonsense about Islam.
You’d think some as intelligent as him would check before he talks.
I’m too dumb to understand these guys!! Mashallah brother hijab you are a excellent example of a true Muslim!!
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Brother you are not dumb, Jordan is a professional sophisticated talk machine that gives the impression of saying something deep and profound but in truth his speech is empty useless jargon.
@@mub3ady stop being disrepsectful, u need to respect that he is here. He is genuine, and says a lot of good things. Cmon now
@@musedits5442 stop being a simp, why should we respect him! He didn't respect Islam and Muslims, didn't you listen to his garbage of a message to Muslims!!
He chose to be ignorant of Islam and was disrespectful to Muslims, why should we respect him!
Islam does not need anyone and Muslims definitely don't need him.
The dumb is the one who can't make people understand what he is saying
exactly like what jordan peterson did when brother Mohammad surprised him 🤣
Hard to accept islam (the truth) usually happen to very clever person cos they have big self confidence, high ego, not use to hear others. May Allah open his heart and mind. Amin
JP has an awesome mind. hijab wasn't quite on that level, he's like a Borg from star trek in every action is motivated by assimilation.
only Mohammed Hijab can understand JP
Genius! ❤
Server" how can I take your order today?"
Jordan Peterson "it depends on what you mean by order? And how what is even today? And what is "your"?"
Server " what the #### do you want to eat??!?!?!"
The disrespect on JP rn is crazy, u guys should appreciate he is here.
No we don't have to lol
@@Halal_Dan as a good Muslim u should
@@musedits5442 I don't look up to kafirs, if he was truly an honest good person he would accept Islam already.
@@Halal_Dan bruh
@@musedits5442 Its crazy honestly, like half the comments are like "i skipped over his answers" but then simultaneously disrespecting him, calling him self absorbed. He even says in the video that he talks too much and thats a flaw, but the basis for his answer was essentially, we should all come closer to one another and achieve peace because that is what God wants for us, even though historically we've been horrible at being kind to one another. It's a simple and honest, and good answer. But people are acting as if he was talking out of his ass
Idk why but this reminds me of Jordan Peterson vs Peter Jordanson
We'll see
Hello, I am Sajjad Saddigh from Iran. I have *questions* about Shia and Sunni. When can I ask you or someone you approve to answer me? I am still young, so I want to get the answers to the questions as soon as possible. Thank you Brother for trying to guide people.
If you want, I'll ask in the comments, but it's hard to discuss here
Salam alaykoum
Go to sapience institute (hijaab is the cofonder) they have a lighthouse where you can ask your questions and have answers.
