Ill go first. Add a mechanic of water removal just like sea of thieves where there will be holes on the ship and it slowly will either start taking damage like FTL with oxygen. But how to combine this mechanic with the health can be negotiable.
Thank you for trying the demo of Reclaim the Sea! I hope you enjoyed it. I'm working on adding more events to increase the duration of the demo so players can see more of the game content.
I encountered this content creator showcasing the game purely by chance, I like the concept and visited your channel, You might want to do quarterly or monthly updates on game progress or simply ideas to keep people interested, please make an "about you" video with your vision for this game, if you are a one-person team, mention it. A lot of people like to support indie devs, myself included
really interesting game, looks like it could turn out quite interesting but at the moment a bit too rough for me. Good vid nonetheless! liked and subscribed
Thank you! Yeah really rough around the edges. The sound effects and the ui can use allot of work to feel more coherent and drag you more in the moment !
A lot of things jump to mind with the combat mechanics. 1: It bugs me that ships only have guns to one side. I get it from a Mechanics perspective, but it just bugs me. I probably would have added guns on both sides, and made mechanics for turning the ship around (something which could have taken x amount of time based on Engine or "steering" power), in order to bring more guns to bear, especially if your guns did differently under different circumstances or against different ships 2: Crew should move faster. It makes the crew look indifferent and apathetic, and makes the fights seem superficial and bland instead of suspenseful ... 3: ... I think the mechanics of the guns hitting squares on top of the ship is dumb. If I made the game, I would have each ship have multiple decks, and allow you to cycle through each deck, and each deck having spots for extra guns, storages, and other subsystems, and then have the enemy guns shoot through a random deck section. Then give your gunners options to aim high or low, where aiming low would maybe hit decks below water causing your ship to sink, while aiming high, might hit subsystems stored above water 4: I would defo have a better sinking animation. I know it is beta, but it looked dumb. The animation in FTL of the enemy ship blowing up into pieces is so cool, and think they could have done something similar here, instead of it just fading under the waves. also make animations for the crew dying or frantically thrashing in the water as the ship is engulfed by the waves ... But I think it has a lot of potential, but as it is right now it does not look to hold a candle to FTL, and even though the concept is cool and could have a lot of potential, I don't think this game is for me.
don't know why that other commenter said they were bored, i thought you did a great job at introducing the game. some people just have a very short attention span but click on longer videos nonetheless. don't let that bring you down, i think you're doing just fine! If you'd like to try a different style of video to capture more people's attention, you could make a separate narration audio to just talk about your impressions about the game while the footage from your playthrough rolls in the background. That way you can have a more "tight" script/bullet points to talk about, and since it's more organized it could help retain more viewers :D
Thanks Mighty, This could help out, its cuz i have this first look series , i could potentially give my review 1st then give the play through after if people r interested overall in the gameplay.
If you chould change something about the game and improve it what would it be ?

IDK, seems cool. maybe introduce intercept events where you might encounter something unexpected on the way to a waypoint,

Weird combination of "FTL: Faster Than Light" and "Abandon Ship", but has potential.
@NeutralDeer48 yeah definatly a weird combo. Especially seeing ship shooting only one side
But if you close your eyes...
Bodum Bodum Bo Bodum bodum

They could also make enemies easier and implemented a chess board type of mechanic of chasing and fleet creating

2 mins in and already bored
Thanks, any improvements you could recommend? It's hard doing my best as a small creator with limited time, so anything can help.
