Let me explain this for all the idiots out there. He's pissed because he's being used as a contiguously plan or as he said "A Plan B" Where he's providing her a place to stay most nights, taking care of her children, making sure they have food to eat, basically being a husband and a father to her children, she's running around sleeping with other guys instead of showing any love to the man who actually cared enough to become her "provider" the thing real men do. That's what this poem is about.

He was truly in love with her. Its good that you use your fear to keep yourself and others from getting that close but he was in a situation you could never possibly understand.
That's the point of the end. It may sound shallow but that's the point and theme he's trying to keep. Because the person he loved kept such a shallow view of him, he told her that if a friend was he was gonna be, then he wouldn't support her "If you're not tryin to bend, then I'm not your friend" The shallowness of the poem is the theme. His "Friend" never returned his feelings, so he's moving on and breaking away. Gotta listen to the meaning and not just the words. Its called Poetry.
keeping a distance towards people who dont have feelings for you isnt fear, its logical. when you truly love someone you want to be around them in any capacity you can unless doing so would really hurt them. oh and now you are appointing yourself authority over what i can and cant ever understand... yes this is definitely a good time to terminate the convo its no longer adult apparently

I see that meaning now, but still if he actually loved her Id think he'd care about her enough to want to stay friends... i dont ditch my friends I have crushes on just cuz its not mutual lol. I think love is way too strong a term in this sense. And I can also distance myself from crushes enough to not get hurt but still have a friendship. I guess I really just didnt like this poem cuz i dont relate to it at all

He was upset because he was put not only in the friend zone, but being called a friend when really, he was a "Plan B" and no man likes the idea of being someone's second choice as if they had to settle because if you were in that situation and the person you were with told you that you weren't their first choice and they settled with you because they had no other better options, you'd be pretty upset as well
i guess the way you put it makes a lil more sense, but oh wells sounds like a personal problem he could have figured that out and told her how he felt or just kept it moving instead of getting played
