When I heard this I felt as if Jill had wrote about a conversation she had with me. Every word embodies who I've been and where I am going. What I've experienced personally. I felt as if my best friend took one of our conversations and put me on blast ever so tastefully.
This really made me cry because I felt like I've been struggling with that throughout my life, just trying to be something for somebody else and I finally got to the place where I can be something for me! And do something for me because that's what I like !I love this poem I really do

Now 43. I discoverd Ms. Jill Scott when I was 19-20 or so. I listened to her debut album front to back and back again. Her music, poetry and artistry is simply beautiful. To this day, she's one of the most beautiful souls I've discovered.
Jill Scott spoke her truth. We all should take a step back and think about ourselves and how we do things in life put self first be true to self and all things are possible.

My attraction to her transcends the sexual and takes me to a place where I can see the beauty in all black women , especially the one that I have been blessed by God and Her to be called My Empress !!!!!

I feel like you need to listen to the poem again and understand why I think that’s not the time and place. If there ever was any time and place where it’s appropriate to say women have to have this and that attributes to be perfect. Also I know you said this 10 years ago so lots could have changed in your opinion, I’m just leaving this here as a general thought.
@@Streets0fLondon I think you misinterpret my thoughts ......then and now perfection is based on the "completeness" of an individual and their ability to recognise their perfect imperfections ........I may have been a bit linear in what I wrote (even now because in using the word "completeness" I'm placing unintentionally a geometric form to an abstract thought.........in essence ......I agree with what you're saying as well...........Salutations.
